In 1996 RAGE were pioneers by releasing their „Lingua Mortis" album, along with a real orchestra. This was continued with their follow ups, also on stage.

In 2010 RAGE and the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA returned on stage again, headlining the „Rock Hard Festival" in Gelsenkirchen. Everyone who has watched the incredible show, will still be overwhelmed by this great performance. If you missed the show, you can get some impressions now under the following LINK!

In future, RAGE and the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA will play two different shows. Producer Victor Smolski will envolve different guest musicians at the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA, who will also release orchestral records, while RAGE will focus on the heavy tracks. Both bands will be on Nuclear Blast Records.

C'était beaucoup plus intéressante du temps ou c'est Christian Wolf qui s'occupait des parties symphoniques (Lingua martis, XIII, Ghost, All this time, Fading hours, etc...)

At the end of January, the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA — founded by German heavy metallers RAGE as an orchestral side-project — made its live debut over the course of 2013's 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise: On the high seas in the Caribbean, the 15-member band played two highly celebrated gigs in the packed "Chorus Line Theater" on board of the "Majesty Of The Seas" cruise ship. Enthusiastic feedback by both fans and the press provided the combo with another boost of motivation for the upcoming recordings of the debut album that will take place in April under the musical direction of RAGE guitarist Victor Smolski. Right in time for several festival appearances (on this year's Wacken Open Air, among others), LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA's debut record is set for an early August release.

Comments Smolski: "Back from Florida's heat to Germany's iciness, but there can be no talk of feeling chilly — we're boiling over with work in our studio! I'm already back in arranging and composing mode, while mountains of scores are piling up on my desk. I'm already fascinated by the new LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA songs due to their multifacetedness: Rock-hard tracks, some of them even heavier than those of our latest RAGE record, '21', are contrasted with balladic melodies of sheer beauty. The first official LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA album will be something very special for us, as we've never created anything like this before. You can look forward to a concept album with long tracks, sung by Peavy and enriched with female vocals as well as with exotic orchestra instruments."

On Friday, August 2, LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA will release its new album titled "LMO".

During the past month, the three RAGE musicians — Victor Smolski (guitar), Peavy Wagner (vocals and bass) and André Hilgers (drums) — worked at full stretch to finish their opulent orchestral project that can be considered a continuation of 1996's "Lingua Mortis" album, back then a true piece of pioneering work.

The entire album was composed by Victor Smolski, who cooperated with two orchestras from Spain and Russia, enlarging the number of this mammoth project's participants to more than 100. Together with longtime co-producer Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL), Victor Smolski produced and mixed the record in Twilight Hall Studio in Krefeld, Germany. The final mastering will be done within the next days.

"LMO" follows an exciting concept on the burning of witches in Gelnhausen in 1599, written by vocalist Peavy Wagner and based on a true story. Apart from the three RAGE musicians, two female vocalists belong to LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA's regular cast: Jeannette Marchewka and soprano singer Dana Harnge. Guest vocals were contributed by Henning Basse (ex-METALLIUM), among others.

The cover artwork was created by Felipe Machado Franco who's also been responsible for the latest RAGE artwork, "21". The band photos were shot by Pia Kintrup.

This past Saturday, May 4, a rough mix of "LMO" was presented to a group of international journalists. Journalist Martin Stark of Germany's Rock It magazine describes the record as an "opulent metal opera, more orchestral than anything else, partly heavier than RAGE and melodic beyond my wildest dreams from end to end." Guitar editor Nico Ernst states: "Never before has the combination of band and orchestra worked that well." Metal.de writer Florian Schörg takes the thought further and judges: "The perfect symbiosis of two worlds sparkles with both fantastic melodies and heaviness. The gigantic spectrum of emotions can be considered the cream topping on this extraordinarily delicious sound cocktail."

Ils auraient pû sortir ça sous le nom de "RAGE feat. Lingua Mortis" que ça aurait pas changé grand chose

Eh bien j'ai acheté cet album un peu à l'arrache étant donné qu'il n'était pas cher et que j'avais bien aimé les précédentes coopération Rage/LMO. Pour être honnête je m'attendais plus à du Metal avec orchestre classique, donc un truc moyen ou juste bien, j'espérais quand même que les mecs de Rage ajoute un petit plus sympathique comme ils l'avaient déjà fait dans le passé.

Et au final j'ai vraiment aimé l'album qui passe tout seul

. L'orchestre est bien intégré à la musique et ne sert pas de fond sonore comme c'est trop souvent le cas, on a des passage bien Metal, bien "Rage" dont certains prog (le solo de "Cleansed by Fire" me fait penser à du Dream Theater par exemple

). De plus, plus j'écoute cet album plus je trouve des ressemblances avec Savatage

Une bien belle surprise en gros

J'apprécie moyennement cet album, tu as raison au niveau orchestration, il n'a pas là en fond sonore et c'est bien, mais par contre je préfère largement leur premier projet et XIII, je trouve que le son et le sous accordage de Victor smolski irait très bien pour faire du stoner, mais pas ce genre de projet, c'est bien dommage.

Grand (qui a dit gros?) fan de Rage, je me suis évidemment acheté l'album. Reçu avant hier, écouté 5 fois et j'aime beaucoup, comme presque à chaque fois.
Pour moi c'est un album de Rage avec le Lingua Mortis Orchestra, je ne comprends pas trop pourquoi ils (Rage) se mettent en retrait?
ça me fait penser à XIII, mais les morceaux sont plus longs (toujours plus de 6 minutes hormis un instru bof bof de 2mn30);
Les morceaux sont bien heavy et mélodiques dans le style de Rage, il y en a un bien bourrin avec voix agressive de Peavy ('scapegoat') et une ballade toute molle correcte. Les chanteuses accompagnent Peavy qui restent le vocalistes principal, de loin.

Un très bon disque pour moi

Acheté un peu en retard

Et une putain de bonne surprise... c'est dommage du coup d'avoir viré Smolsky quand il commençait a composer des trucs symphonique intéressant ...

J'avais déjà bien aimé Empty Hollow sur String to a web, et la c'est aussi bon, voire mieux.

L'intérêt de mettre Rage en retrait ... bof, il aurait mieux fait de faire comme sur Ghost, mettre lingua martis orchestra en featuring plutôt que l'inverse. parce que ça reste du Rage, et du bon Rage qui plus est !
Le livret est bien classe aussi (j'ai le digibook avec le dvd). Bon le truc qui saoule c'est le DVD bonus avec 2 concert de Rage ou ils jouent les 2 fois... la suite Lingua Mortis, rien que les cuivre du début et je zappe ....
