Norwegian singer Roy Khan (full name: Roy Sætre Khantatat) has officially announced his departure from the American melodic metal band KAMELOT. His statement on the matter follows below.
"Dear fans and friends,
"There have been a lot of speculations around why I am not touring with KAMELOT and I want to make a statement although it may not prevent further guessing as to what's actually going on. It is a fact, however, that I told the guys in the band already last fall (well after my burnout) that I was leaving the band. Naturally enough, they were shocked (as was the label and everyone else working with KAMELOT). In addition to risk of dropping ticket sales, they wanted to give me time to think things over, and so I did. My decision still stands; it is finished.
"I am currently spending time with my family in Norway taking it easy and wondering profoundly what the future is going to bring. Communication with the outer world has been so and so, but I have had several talks with Thomas [Youngblood, KAMELOT guitarist/mainman] along the way, although I am still called in sick.
"I am terribly sorry that my decision is affecting so many others and I want you to know I wish the band and associates all the best for the future and that I enjoyed every second in the spotlight. How could I not?! They were nourished by the best fans in the world!
"I am eternally thankful for everything you and KAMELOT have given me and equally sorry that it has to end here. The good news is; God was there after all...
"Love you to death!!!"

Ce n'est qu'une demi-surprise, finalement... Le fait qu'il soit remplacé pour la tournée, déjà, ça ne sentait pas très bon pour la suite, même si on pouvait toujours espérer. J'espère en tout cas qu'il reviendra sur scène ou qu'il participera à d'autres projets, parce que j'adore sa voix!

D'autant plus que les propos de Youngblood du type "Fabio Lione peut chanter des chansons de notre ancien répertoire, chose que Khan n'est plus capable....." ne laissaient pas présager d'une volonté de continuer à bosser ensemble....

Hum oui et non... Il a eu des périodes de "dépression", il était revenu au chant, et après il est reparti et on avait jamais trop su pourquoi, maintenant, on sait

Du tout, justement. Si tu lis son message où il annonce son départ de Kamelot, la version anglaise entière, tu comprends que:
1) Il semble souffrir de ce problème psychologique où on a beaucoup de mal à sortir de chez soi. Parce qu'on ne se sent pas en sécurité ou autre chose, en tout cas ça demande un effort phénoménal de sortir.
2) En soit il a l'air d'aller mieux, mais... c'est pas encore jojo. Or difficile de partir en tournée, donc faire partie d'un groupe, quand on a du mal à affronter l'extérieur...
J'espère aussi qu'il finira par rejoindre un groupe à nouveau, même dans quelques années...

Fabio: Well, I would love it!!! The Kamelot songs are great, I really like the style and Khan is probably one of the few singers that I like. So of course I would consider that!!! But first let's do the European tour and the North-American one, Then, if they will ask me, I'll be more than happy to join the band permanently. Since the first time we met and played together we had a very good feelin'. Everything was easy and natural like we knew each other for years and everybody who saw the band in South-America or Europe said we did great shows!!! I'm happy for the guys and the fans, so let's see what the future will bring for us -.never say never!!!
