OPETH remain hard at work on their next album, which follows up 2008’s critically acclaimed Watershed. The album is due out this fall via Roadrunner Records.
Says the band in a Facebook update, "We can exclusively reveal that the new Opeth album will be titled Heritage. The record is due for release through Roadrunner Records in September. More details to follow soon."
In early April it was revealed that keyboardist Per Wiberg has been relieved of his duties in Opeth as part of a mutual decision with the band. Keyboard duties on upcoming tours will be handled by a musician who is already rehearsing with the band. Said musician’s identity will be released at a later date.

A noter qu'ils ont un nouveau claviériste, mais pas encore officialisé :
According to the French edition of Rock Hard magazine, keyboardist Joakim Svalberg (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, GLENN HUGHES) has been rehearsing with Swedish progressive metallers OPETH for the past few weeks, but has not yet been made an official member of the band.

c'est très rock prog' ce titre, assez calme dans l'ensemble, avec des petites envolées classique pour du Opeth. Un titre agréable mais pas la claque.

C'est bien, ça met l'eau à la bouche.
Je ne vais pas dire que le titre m'a retourné mais il est conforme à ce que j'attendais et j'ai encore plus envie de connaître le reste.

Moi je trouve qu'en dépit des artifices 70's employés par Opeth, on reste toujours sur les mêmes sentiers battus foulés depuis des années par le groupe....

L'édition de septembre de Rock Hard Allemagne contiendra un mini-live d'Opeth :
The September 2011 issue of Germany's Rock Hard magazine will include a big cover story and world-exclusive live CD by Swedish progressive metallers OPETH that won't be available at record stores. "The Devil's Orchard - Live At Rock Hard Festival" is a five-song, 50-minute effort which is described as "an outstanding recording made in 2009" when the band stunned the audience with an awesome performance in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The CD will also include "The Devil's Orchard", the first single from OPETH's long-awaited new studio album, "Heritage".
Commented Rock Hard publisher Holger Stratmann: "OPETH are among the most important contemporary metal bands — and after that extensive U.S. tour, they were really able to strut their stuff. That was certainly one of the best performances ever in the history of our festival."

L'avantage d'un mini-live d'Opeth, c'est que ça dure plus longtemps qu'un live complet de WASP.

Un clip a été réalisé pour le morceau 'The Devil's Orchard':
"Heritage, the new album from Swedish progressive metallers OPETH, sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.
OPETH's previous studio CD, 2008's "Watershed", opened with more than 19,000 units to land at No. 23.
"Watershed" was the follow-up to the band's acclaimed "Ghost Reveries" CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000.
OPETH's 2003 album, "Damnation", premiered with a little over 5,000 copies. "
ça fait pas beaucoup d'albums vendus quand même, pour un top 20.

Je n'ai pas écouté d'Opeth depuis des années, et je n'ai jamais vraiment été fan non plus avant donc forcément je ne peux pas percevoir la répétition dont vous parlez, mais sur la chanson en clip ça me plait. Je croyais qu'Opeth était encore un groupe de metal.
Dans ce morceau c'est prog rock 70's à fond les ballons, avec beaucoup d'atmosphère, un peu de jazz, des variations vocales, un travail évident à la batterie, le tout très organique forcément. Je crois même que je préfère ça à tout ce que je connais d'Opeth.
