Le nouvel album des américains est en partie financé par des fans eux-même.

Long-running Arizona metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have set "Ugly Noise" as the title of their new album, which the band is currently writing for a tentative late 2012/early 2013 release.

Funding for the next FLOTSAM AND JETSAM album is being aided by the PledgeMusic.com project, which encourages fans to contribute funds to the recording of albums and the artists themselves to donate to charity as a part of their fundraising.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM last summer parted ways with drummer Craig Nielsen and was rejoined by Kelly David Smith.

The band's current lineup is the same as the one that recorded the "Cuatro" (1992), "Drift" (1995) and "High" (1997) albums:

Eric "A.K." Knutson - Vocals
Ed Carlson - Guitar
Michael Gilbert - Guitar
Jason Ward - Bass
Kelly David Smith – Drums

Vu comment le précédent était mauvais, effectivement, ce sera sans moi

j'ai l'impression que beaucoup oublient la base : des bonnes chansons.

c'est le problème actuel,les groupes veulent une super prod et en oublient de composer de bons titres.

Non du tout , je l'accroche pas du tout cet album , je dis pas qu'il est mauvais juste que je me fais chier mis à part quelque titres , j'en suis indifférent , en ce qui concerne The Cold , certes la production est pas comparable ( autre époque) mais même au niveaux de compos je trouve qu'elles tiennent la route , je persiste , je le trouve bon cet album , je suis quand même pas le seul ???

Je ne suis pas très fan de thrash, mais Doomsday For The Deceiver est un chef d'oeuvre du genre, tout simplement. Il est dans mon top 5 du thrash, à côté de Show No Mercy, RIP, Ride The Lightning et Bonded by Blood. Alors que The Cold, de ce que j'en ai écouté, c'est d'un quelconque, rien à en retenir.

Un chef d'oeuvre du genre ?? je ne suis pas quelqu'un de borné , je vais le ré écouter après tout !!
après tout j’avoue non sans honte que je ne suis pas un fin connaisseur du groupe , c'est avec Wishplash un des groupes de Thrash que je connais le moins bien , j'ai écouté My God , Doomsday et The cold ( ce dernier ma plus marqué ) .

Je ré écoute et on verra si je change d'opinion

Bien d'accord, superbe album, j'aime beaucoup le chant d'Erik AK en prime. Et je dois quasi avoir le même top 5 si j'en fait un

Ré écouté trois fois ,c'est vrais que c'est du bon , j'avoue que la première partie de l'album me gave profondément , mais à partir de fade to black les choses se corsent carrément à mon goût , c'est puissant , intelligent , de bonne facture , c'est vrais que c'est du lourd , dans votre top 5 je trouve curieux qu'il n'y ai pas "The Ultra violence"de Death Angel

un top 5 c'est toujours une dechirure

Ok, les goûts tout ça mais l'enchainement hammerhead - iron tears est tellement énorme ! Que ça te gave, je trouve ça...original on va dire

Et pour 'the ultra violence' je connais certains morceaux (j'aime particulièrement 'voracious souls') mais j'ai pas encore l'album...

When asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the new CD, Gilbert said, "I worked with [former METALLICA and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist] Jason Newsted on a few songs, and he's given me some tips about some things and opened my view up towards how I look at my music and how I want the listeners to perceive the points I'm trying to make."

He added, "[Jason] is really passionate about music, so when I called him and talked to him, I just wanted him to help out with some lyrical stuff and hear some of the music I was writing. He's a great songwriter, too. I'm not sure if everything that he got to do in METALLICA, if he was restrained a little bit, I'm not sure about all that sort of stuff, but as far as with me, anytime he wants to write with me, he's got full rein and he's got absolute say-so in everything that happens. It's a 50-50 relationship, as it would be with Eric ['A.K.' Knutson], our singer, writing music with us, or Kelly [David Smith], our drummer."

Regarding the musical direction of the new FLOTSAM AND JETSAM material, Gilbert said, "It's probably the most mature it's ever been, but if you wanna classify it as close to any other record that we've done, it's probably gonna be close to [1995's] 'Drift'. If we were gonna make a record right after 'Drift', which was out fifth record, 'Ugly Noise' would be the next one — with this lineup, you know."
