Après Graveyard et Witchcraft, Orchid viennent de signer chez Nuclear Blast.
Nuclear Blast Records has announced the signing of San Francisco-based doom rockers ORCHID to a worldwide deal.
Commented the band: "After many months of talking to different labels about our future, we're very excited to announce that we've decided to join forces with Nuclear Blast. We've been working on new material on and off for the last year and we're feeling really good about the new songs. It seems like they're a continuation in the same tradition of the material on our first full length, 'Capricorn', but also, show some new sides of our music that should surprise everyone and show that ORCHID isn't a band that just wants to keep making the same album over and over. We're really excited for everyone to hear it!"
Commented Nuclear Blast head of A&R, Andy Siry: "Ever since we first heard of ORCHID and witnessed their perfect way of bringing back the glorious days of rock music, we knew we had to work with this amazing band. Since its inception in 2006, ORCHID — which features in its ranks well-known tattoo artist Theo Mindell on vocals — has achieved massive global awareness with their stunning releases "Through The Devil's Doorway" (EP, 2009) and "Capricorn" (full-length, 2011).

Encore une fois une petite crainte à l'entente de cette nouvelle au niveau de la direction sonore que ça risque de prendre, mais comme déjà dit, ça a pas empêché Graveyard de sortir un très bon Hisingen Blues, j'attend toujours de pouvoir jeter une oreille sur le prochain Witchcraft, du coup ben on verra bien, je suis pas forcément pessimiste, plutôt curieux.

Je viens de changer d'avis 2 fois sur ce groupe en 24 heures. Après avoir trouvé que la copie était bien trop facile, j'ai finalement beaucoup accroché, en fait ils ont gardé l'esprit du Sabbath des années 68/71 en faisait un copié collé du son et du style de jeu mais sont aussi capables de produire leurs propres compos et riffs. C'est très bien executé et au final ça fait du bien de se replonger 4 décennies en arrière.
En tous cas on a vraiment l'impression que ces mecs ont passé toute leur vie enfermés dans une cave coupés du monde avec les 3 premiers albums du Sab

ouais moi j'attends encore le déclic qui me fera plus penser à une copie de Black Sabbath... mais ça vient toujours pas, presque à chaque morceau j'ai l'impression d'entendre l'original (en moins bien). Mais ça reste sympa hein...

J'ai lu une interview d'eux, ils poussent le vice à jouer et à enregistrer exclusivement avec du matos vintage des années 70, micros, amplis, pedales, instruments etc... d'où ce son très daté. Après ce sont pas les premiers à faire ça.

The EP will contain the following tracks:

„Wizard Of War" will also appear on the upcoming full-length album, „The Mouths Of Madness". „Demon"s Eyes" was previously released on an underground Halloween compilation and „Albatros" was formerly released on the band"s significant debut album, „Capricorn".

Ca y est je l'ai eu le déclic! vraiment excellent ces EPs et l'album... j'arrive enfin à faire abstraction du maître et quand on est dans le trip c'est du yeah total

Je pense que la seule chanson que je connaissais d'eux était Eastern Woman sur la compilation des Templiers #2. Une chanson que j'aime beaucoup, mais le titre, là, j'ai trop l'impression d'entendre Symptom of the universe...merci Pierre.

hum,perso je trouve que les compos de ce combo se "rapprochent" un peu trop de celles du Sab quand même....exemple sur le premier Lp, le titre "black funeral" qui rappelle franchement trop "hand of doom"....
