La fin de Grip Inc

J'voudrais pas mettre la charrue avant les boeufs mais c'est inquiétant du côté de Grip Inc :
- Un chanteur qui est présenté comme un ex-Grip Inc par Squealer qu'il vient d'intégrer
- Pas de bassiste officiel depuis 2 ans
- Sorychta qui dit être dégouté du music business et qui maintenant fonde un projet goth metal :
Acclaimed guitarist/producer Waldemar Sorychta (LACUNA COIL, GRIP INC., TIAMAT, MOONSPELL) is seeking a female singer for a professional project in the "gothic rock/metal" vein. A record deal is said to be in the works for the as-yet-unnamed band, which will perform and record music composed by Sorychta.
J'adore ce groupe et en particulier leur dernier album, un des plus originaux et risqués sortis ces dernières années à mon avis, mais j'ai l'impression qu'ils ne rencontreront jamais le succès escompté et qu'ils ont baissé les bras
En espérant me tromper...

Sorychta a besoin de thunes ?
Autrement j'espère vraiment qu'ils vont continuer, des groupes de thrash aussi originaux y'en a pas 50 par les temps qui courent...

d'un autre côté les groupes de thrash ne rencontrent plus trop le succès de nos jours (malheureusement!)
Forcément quand tu fais ce genre de musique le succès est rarement au rendez vous.....contrairement aux groupes goth actuellement!

En même temps je trouve qu'il y a quand même pas mal de cd de thrash qui sortent ces derniers temps.
C'est con parcequ'ils avaient vraiment un gros potentiel et je ne connais pas leurs chiffres de vente mais j'ai toujours eu l'impression qu'ils bénéficient d'une très bonne image auprès des metalheads.
J'ai rarement croisé des metalleux qui n'aimaient pas ce groupe.

j'aime bien mais c'est très froid et carré, y a pas de folie qui va si bien au Thrash je trouve... enfin c'est pas à cause de moi qu'ils laissent tomber

C'est justement pour ça que je ne considère pas Grip Inc comme du thrash, ils vont souvent bien au-delà des limites du genre, surtout sur le dernier album.
Du coup je crois que leur public le plus adapté n'est pas forcément le public thrash old-school étant donné que les gens s'attendent souvent à du Slayer bis alors que ça n'a pas grand chose à voir, leur démarche étant plus originale. J'ai l'impression que cette étiquette de "projet de Lombardo" leur colle à la peau.
M'enfin, le premier truc que je me dis quand je vois la description du nouveau projet de Sorychta, c'est qu'il est au bout du rouleau et qu'il a besoin de thunes...

Tout n'est pas perdu...j'ai vu une interview de Lombardo (à la TV US)disant qu'il y aurait certainement un nouvel album vers 2008.

"Former GRIP INC. vocalist Gus Chambers passed away on October 13, 2008 at the age of 52. Chambers, who resided in Coventry, England, reportedly took his own life.
According to the Coventry Telegraph, Chambers made a name for himself in the UK punk scene as the frontman for SQUAD in the late '70s. He later took his skills as a top notch front-man to the new band 21 GUNS. They released the single "Ambition Rock" on Neville Staples's Shack Records.
Gus later moved to America and formed SONS OF DAMNATION before hooking up with SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo and German guitarist Waldemar Sorychta in GRIP INC. They released three acclaimed albums in the mid-to-late '90s — "Power of Inner Strength" (1995), "Nemesis" (1997), and "Solidify" (1999) — and finally came back with a fourth entitled "Incorporated" in 2004, which was greeted as a true return to form by the critics.
Gus was most recently a member of the Coventry, UK punk band MANTRA SECT which was scheduled to play its next concert tonight (Friday, October 17).
In an October 15, 2008 online posting, MANTRA SECT bassist Wendy X stated about Gus' decision to take his own life, "My emotions are swimming round and round in my head, trying to comprehend it all, so I will not say too much on here except to say to everyone that has asked why, as I do myself, that we were always, as normal, constantly in contact with him (myself virtually daily) yet none of us saw this coming. Nor many other friends that also constantly kept in touch with him either. We are at a loss about why. My usual daily phone calls with Gus all the days leading up to this didn't give any clue whatsoever that anything was THIS wrong."
"I've been very lucky in my career," Gus once said, according to the Coventry Telegraph. "I have had the privilege of playing in front of thousands of people at festivals like Rock in Rio and the Dynamo festival in Holland. Nothing though brings back fonder memories than playing in front of maybe 20 or 30 people in The Hand and Heart or the back room of The Swanswell."

Putain je suis dégoûté...
Gus Chambers était un de mes chanteurs de thrash préférés, il avait vraiment une putain de personnalité et un style bien à lui, et s'améliorait d'album en album. Et dire que Grip Inc étaient passés juste à côté de chez moi il y a une dizaine d'années et que j'y étais pas allé en me disant qu'ils repasseraient, exactement comme pour Death d'ailleurs...
Qu'il repose en paix en tout cas

Le chanteur de GRIP INC et SQUEALER AD, Gus Chambers, a mis fin à ses jours le 13 octobre 2008.
Il avait 52 ans. RIP.

une triste nouvelle un grand chanteur et un mec sympathique je l'avais rencontré à la roche sur yon après le premier album un mec bien . RIP Grip restera à jamais un très bon groupe qui a fait 4 super disques qui en plus vieillissent bien

Les deux premiers Grip INC. sont des bombes, faudra que je les ressorte prochainement du coup, un p'tit Heretic War Chant, ça sera mon hommage...
