abe Reed Productions and Kendra Helms Media have joined forces to create the Metal Allstars tour, which will hit Europe in March/April 2014. The Metal Allstars tour will feature "some of the biggest contributors to the heavy metal genre along with some of the most technical musicians in the industry," according to a press release.
So far, the following European dates have been announced:
April 03 - Stockholm, SWE @ Hovet
April 05 - Riga, LAT @ Arena Riga
April 06 - Helsinki, FIN @ Hartwal Areena
April 08 - Saint Petersburg, RUS @ SK Yubileyny
April 09 - Moscow, RUS @ Stadium Live
Metal Allstars will be offering unique items and experiences to be auctioned off in order to raise funds for Ride For Dime. Ride For Dime Inc., a 501 3, charitable organization, honors the lives of guitar hero and friend, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (PANTERA), Jeff Thompson, Nathan Bray and Erin Halk. Ride For Dime has proudly given back to charities that were of interest to Darrell during his life as well as charities he would have been proud to be a part of, like Little Kids Rock, Toys For Tots, IAVA and many more. Ride For Dime was formed in 2010 and began funding its own Ride For Dime Scholarship Fund.
Originally formed in Arlington, Texas, in 2005 by Darrell's friends and family, the organization has now grown to having six nationwide chapters. Each chapter holds its own event, and all proceeds go directly to the Ride For Dime Scholarship Fund. Their current chapters include: Texas, Philadelphia, Chicago, Florida, Wisconsin, Nashville, Minnesota and the U.K.

J'avions plus entendu parler de Menza depuis son retour avorté avec Mégadèsse. En tandem avec Friedman, c'est toute une prise (à part s'il a aussi régressé que le soutenait Mustaine il y a dix ans). Par contre, Anthrax... ...Belladonna c'est bien, mais le tout nouveau guitariste qu'en fait j'ai appris qu'il existait par cette annonce... C'est aussi la première fois que j'entends parler de Shinedown.

Il semble qu'une partie du line up dévoilé n'a rien confirmé ou mieux, comme Marty Friedman n'a jamais entendu parlé du projet.
Ainsi les noms de Tom Araya, Cronos, Udo, Rob Halford et Marty Friedman ont été démentis ou non confirmés.
Ca retire déjà plus de 60 % de l'intérêt du truc.

The bands listed have nothing to do with this or any Metal All-Stars tour that features metal legends performing outside their individual bands.

Finalement, ça explique bien des choses. Parce que j'avais des sérieux doutes sur la viabilité du projet, un festival/gros concert caritatif, ça peut se faire, mais une tournée de cinq dates dans des arénas de 8000 à 15000 places... ...d'autant plus que l'objectif de la fondation est d'offrir des bourses d'études à quelques adolescents américains. Je ne crois pas que c'est une cause très prioritaire pour les publics finlandais, suédois, russes et lettons.
What is the Ride For Dime Scholarship?
In the interest of continuing music education for children, we decided that we should pursue beginning our own Scholarship Fund.
Once we raise the required amount to be active in awarding scholarships, we have a plan in place on how we will award them. Each year, we will award two eighth grade students scholarships, based on their academic grades, as well as their involvement in a music program.
The amount of the scholarship will depend upon the amount of money we raise. We plan toaward these in the respective cities, which have Ride For Dime Chapters.
Year one will be Dallas. Year two will be Philadelphia, and so on. We have to reach our needed goal, but get closer each year. We look forward to the day we do reach our goal,and are able to award a scholarship, in the name of Darrell Abbott. How cool would that be?

Je trouve ça quand même choquant que tous ces artistes, pourtant des légendes, fassent une tournée à la Paul Di'anno/Blaze Bayley/Ripper Owens. On racle un peu le fond là, non?
