Le groupe enregistre actuellement son 8ème album studio. Il sera mixé et masterisé par Jens Bogren.

Le successeur de "Khaos Legions" devrait sortir à la fin du printemps ou vers le début de l'été chez Century Media.

Michael Amott estime que ce futur album est "très différent de Khaos Legions". Il serait "plus personnel (au niveau des paroles), un aspect très heavy et agressif est toujours présent, mais un autre niveau de mélodie est atteint". Reste plus qu'à entendre le résultat pour confirmer ou non son propos. (VS-Webzine)

Le mixage de l'album a commencé, il s'intitulera "War Eternal" :

Three years after the release of "Khaos Legions," Arch Enemy has started mixing a 9th studio album with Jens Bogren at Fascination Street in Sweden.

Michael Amott (guitar) comments: "We've been producing ourselves, as we did on 'Khaos Legions'. We have a clear vision of what we want Arch Enemy to sound like, and we can actually achieve it without the help of outside producers. We also have the advantage of having two talented sound engineers among our ranks in Daniel Erlandsson (drums) and Nick Cordle (guitar).

"We've been tracking at a few different studios here in Sweden, the drums at Fascination Street Studio and guitars and bass in another room. We just finished vocals in a third studio with engineer Staffan Karlsson ('Khaos Legions') and the mix and mastering will done by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street mixing facility.

"Musically, this album is going a few places we haven't visited before. As our fans have come expect, our albums have all had their own vibe and 'War Eternal' will leave its own mark. Lyrically it's a much more personal record, and I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before. The songs are loaded with strong and vicious metal, drenched in tons of melody and emotion. All the trademarks of Arch Enemy are present, just more in your face and turned up to 11."

The new album will be titled "War Eternal," and Michael explains: "A lot of times life is a struggle, a war against what I like to call 'mental chains' in society that try to prevent you from living life the way you want, that try to stop you from making your dreams come true. I have always resented that and I always will. The title sums up our collective attitude a band as well; stages will be destroyed, eardrums will bleed. There will be no choice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is 'War Eternal'..."

ARCH ENEMY announces new singer

In early June 2014, ARCH ENEMY will unleash their 9th studio album, War Eternal, worldwide via Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan.
With this upcoming release, the band will introduce a new member to their ranks: Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers THE AGONIST. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now classic Wages Of Sin (2001), will be stepping down as front-woman and focusing on management, while Alissa takes her place.

Angela Gossow comments:
“Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you…I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY’s voice of anger. After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will however remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster.
I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine – and now she’s getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.
I want to thank all ARCH ENEMY fans, our labels Century Media (worldwide) and Trooper Entertainment (Japan), our dedicated road crew, and in particular Michael, Daniel and Sharlee for their love and support throughout all these years. It’s been one hell of a ride! We conquered every situation, made it through thick & thin together in the most exciting and rewarding time of my life. Thank you all for being there with me on stage, in front of the stage, and backstage. You have touched my heart, and I hope I was able to give something back to you. I am grateful for the wonderful memories - I will cherish them forever!
I am looking forward to the next decade of ARCH ENEMY madness! Alissa White-Gluz comments:

La tuile ! Angela était devenue l'âme du groupe. C'est comme si Bruce Dickinson quittait maiden. Certes elle ne composait pas mais quelle chanteuse, quelle présence sur scène.
Bienvenue et surtout bon courage à la remplacante, Angela a mis la barre très haut.

peut être effectivement une bonne nouvelle . en espérant que la nouvelle comme dans son groupe actuel n'alterne pas voix death et claire , chose, que je déteste .

enfin cela peut relancer le groupe wait and see!!!

je ne connaissais pas The Agonist, j'ai regardé sur Youtube, ça restera plus ou moins dans la continuité (à part si elle se met à faire les refrains en chant clair dans Arch Enemy).

ça aurait été couillu de leur part de prendre un mec pour remplacer Angela mais ça devait pas rentrer dans le plan marketing.

Enfin une bonne nouvelle du côté d'Arch Enemy

J'aurais bien aimé qu'ils fassent revenir Johan Liiva, qui avait une pure voix, mais il était moins sexy... J'aime bien la remplaçante à la base, même si The Agonist n'est pas ma tasse de thé. C'est quand même bien fait et elle a un certain charisme, et elle force moins sa voix qu'Angela.

Yeah!!!

Je n'ai jamais acheté d'album d'Arch Enemy,et à la base je ne suis de toute façon pas particulièrement fan de Death Mélodique(excepté Carcass,si vous les incluez là dedans),genre musical que je trouve incroyablement "pas viril";mais j'ai déjà vu des lives de ce groupe qui passaient dans différents bars métal, et j'avais toujours trouvé la voix et l'attitude de Angela Gossow particulièrement irritante et naze.

Pour une fois on est bien d'accord !

Espérons que ça reste un cas exceptionnel.

A croire que Angela ne faisait pas assez fantasmer le jeune public

L'histoire ne dit pas si du coup la nouvelle doit se taper Amott ?

pas fan de death mélodique non plus même si Arch Enemy n'a pas grand chose de Death Metal, il faut bien admettre que c'est pro, puissant et mélodique et que beaucoup de leurs titres font mouche. J'ai acheté pas mal de leurs albums mais m'en suis lassé systématiquement à cause d'un manque d'atmosphère, d'un côté trop froid et clinique et du chant monocorde d'Angela. D'ailleurs, je les ai jamais ressortis malgré leurs indéniables qualités notamment le boulot au niveau des grattes.

Je suis curieux d'entendre la nouvelle formule j'irai les voir le 2 juin à Rennes.

J'espère surtout que la nouvelle chanteuse ne fera pas de discours engagés entre chaque chanson parce que c'est ce qui me soulait le plus avec Angela!

Pas une nouvelle surprenante, Angela avait prévenu qu'elle arrêterait de chanter dans un futur assez proche, j'espère que la remplaçante aura autant la gniak sur scène (et un peu plus de résistance) et heureusement que Liiva ne revient pas dans le groupe, j'ai toujours détesté sa voix

J'adore ARCH ENEMY, c'est du métal mélodique avec du chant extrême voilà tout et je trouve ça bien bon (même si le dernier album en date m'a déçu) donc bien content qu'ils continuent leur route (même si le coup de reprendre une chanteuse bonasse a un côté un peu ridicule)
