ANGRA - SECOND LEG OF THE TOUR MARKS THE END OF A GREAT STORY
The great drummer Ricardo Confessori announces in through this statement that he will soon leave the command of Angra’s drumsticks. The main reason is the involvement of the musician in new projects.
He certainly continues to be a part of the Angra family, together with the band in other businesses including musical compositions of the group.
Ricardo Confessori began his musical activities studying classical piano for four years , but after hearing the music from Rush , Deep Purple , Led Zeppelin etc, by the time he was 13 years old, Ricardo decided to play the drums. Since then the musician never stopped studying and being constantly in touch with his instrument, for as much time as possible. That is the main tip the drummer offers when he is asked about his drumming.
Ricardo talks with the property of one of the great drummers of today, being globally recognized so by many musicians and specialized music magazines. His first job was as a hired musician in the band Garcia & Garcia. With this group, he recorded the album "Mr. Fire" in 1990. This album today is a rarity for collectors. After the breakup of the band, he joined the group Korzus in 1992, where he remained for a year and a half. During this period they held a series of concerts, and eventually he quit the group due to disagreements with the label. Immediately after his departure, in 1993 during the recording of Angra’s first album Angels Cry, he was invited to assume the drums in the band, and from there on Ricardo Confessori became a known drummer worldwide.
Ricardo is well known not only for merging other rhythms like salsa , merengue, etc. to heavy metal, but also for the unique way of playing, extremely technical but full of feeling and versatility, which are the signature sound of this musician today. With Angra he has recorded the anthological album " Holy Land " from 1996, a full length concept album with Brazilian rhythms that is certainly a milestone in the history of Brazilian heavy rock . Again with Angra the drummer recorded the 1998 album "Fireworks", which yielded the singles "Rainy Nights" and "Lisbon". In 1997 it was time to make the first live album, "Holy Live". Ricardo has also recorded the 1996 mini album Freedom Call and the 1994 EP " Evil Warning ".
Undoubtedly, Ricardo plays a very important rôle in the history of the band and therefore crossing it to the history of Brazilian heavy metal. All the Angra family wishes much prosperity for the new directions of his career.
Ricardo will play the 2nd leg of the tour in celebration of Angra’s Angels Cry 20th Anniversary Tour, playing the bands biggest hits that inspired his best compositions to date.
Ricardo Confessori has been collaborating with the group for many years. He has left us once and returned. He helped us create the group’s musical identity. Now, once again, the doors are open to leave and also to return. He continues with his plans and dreams and we support him. I hope to soon be able to develop some other works with this great guy. He is very professional and has an immense character. So I think. Therefore, I wish all the success in the world to Ricardo Confessori and Angra

Playing with Ricardo in Angra was a great privilege. Listening the original arrangements of the songs he recorded and playing with him was very cool. As a bassist, is very good making music with a drummer that interacts and hears what you're playing, it’s a very special exchange. The language that Ricardo brought has influenced and still influences generations of drummers, and for me it’s his greatest legacy in Angra. It is an indivisible part of our style, no matter who comes to occupy that position. In the five years we have worked together, I’ve also had the opportunity to meet a special, very dedicated and caring man, to whom the work does not end when he gets down from the drums. It was and will always be a pleasure to have Ricardo around, and that's what I hope, that it he’s always close by. I wish him lots of luck and all the best in his new projects.

Musicality, style and personality are features that highlight this great musician that is Ricardo Confessori. Since the days before Angra when we played with Supla, I knew he would be the right guy to help us develop the style we had in mind. Holy Land came and Ricardo left his legacy forever as one of the most creative drummers of our time. It was very good to re – approximate with Ricardo in the past 5 years. We enjoyed the life on the road together, sharing our musical and personal experiences. It is very nice to feel that everything we’ve created musically was the foundation to form a friendship that was born there in the early nineties, and is still alive today. To look back, laugh and cry on the blunders and successes we've had throughout life, with the real feeling we have that we are all a family, after all, we have always been together at crucial moments in the life of each other.
I hope that Ricardo fulfills his dreams, and that he knows that the doors are always open for him to play, work, travel with us, and that we all belong to this inner circle of friendship that we have created over many years. We will always be there to support him and help him in whatever he needs in this new stage of our carriers.
