Swedish epic/power metallers FALCONER have confirmed the departure of singer Kristoffer Göbel. In a posting on their official web site, the band write, "Well, once again the line up of FALCONER is changing. 'Now again!!' you might say. It does sound a bit unstable to do this every once in a while, I know.
"After realizing that changing vocalist was not that applauded by people nor was the musical change on the last album (isn't it great when people are open minded....) we thought: 'OK, sailing towards the wind is getting boring' (personally I would say a sense of cynicism started to grow), 'Why not sail with it instead in good mood?'
"After changing the new music into more folkish style (and loving the sound of it) Karsten and I thought, 'Why not go the whole way, it would really fit the music.
"So hereby we present you the return of Mathias Blad.
"So we thank Kristoffer for the years in the band. It's been a great time we allways will cherish and we assure you all that this has nothing to do with personal matters. We wish all the best for Kriss in the future.
"This kind of thing is about the worst things you can do to a bandmate if you're all friends but in the end, this is not a sand box, it's a band."
FALCONER's fourth studio album, "Grime Vs. Grandeur", was released in May via Metal Blade Records. The CD features guest performances by Snowy Shaw (MERCYFUL FATE, KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL) on drums and Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND) on additional lead vocals.

Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Catch the Shadows", "Northwind", "Legend and the Lore", "Waltz with the Dead", "Long Gone By" and "Tower of the Queen".
Commented FALCONER guitarist Stefan Weinerhall: "Our label boss visited the studio in February. He got very supportive and positive about the new album as he heard some of the material.
"As [we previously announced] the album will be released in September/October 2006. The first edition will contain a bonus disc with four traditional songs in Swedish and a short DVD documentary of the recording session. Even the booklet itself will contain... well, more stuff.
"In July, the last recordings and the mix will take place and meanwhile I'm coming up with more details and additions to the orchestrations. Mathias is penning down the harmony and choir arrangements. This time around you will get more folky and classical instruments added to the songs, something that really enhance things and make it more colourful. I tell you, I'm dying to hear the final result. There's never been a FALCONER album this thought through, produced and filled with nuggets of gold... but I'm not the one to review it, I think."

Falconer ou comment faire du TROU en évitant tous les clichés propres au TROU (hormis la pochette, qui est caricaturale à souhait, quoique pour une fois, le fier guerrier dépose les armes pour retrouver Bobonne à la maison ) !
J'aime beaucoup le chant, incroyablement posé pour ce type de musique. Ca confère au groupe un côté "force tranquille" vraiment bienvenu pour ce style musical ! Ca m'a donné envie de découvrir le premier album qui est lui aussi très bon, quoique moins varié.

Sortie au mois d'août.
The new album (Among Beggars and Thieves) will be mixed in the end of May in Sonic Train Studios. The release date is set to the end of August. A music video will be shot for the song 'Carnival of Disgust'. Apart from the new album, 2008 will be a year off for the band. The activity will start in 2009 again, when we'll try to do a bunch of live shows again.

J'ai acheté l'album mercredi, car j'avais entendu la chanson "man of the hour" sur un sampler et je l'avais trouvée plutôt très bonne
Et là, je peux vous dire que je suis en train de prendre une méga torgnole dans la tronche!!! Cet album est une putain de tuerie de recueil de titres heavy et mélodiques! Ca riffe bien, le chanteur a une voix qui me botte vachement (c'est grave et doux à la fois, ça colle parfaitement au heavy du groupe), les mélodies sont teintées de "medieval style" (c'est traditionnel donc ), il y a une touche folklo (mais c'est léger et pas du tout gavant comme avec certains groupes). La prod est limpide et puisssante à la fois, bref j'adore et je l'écoute en boucle depuis 3 jours!
franchement, penchez vous sur ce disque!
Pour les connaisseurs, est ce que les albums précédents sont aussi bons que celui-ci?? Si c'est le cas, je vais me jeter dessus sans hésiter

Je me rappelle qu'il y avait un mini-buzz autour de ce groupe à une époque pour l'originalité de leur chanteur, qui vient de revenir apparemment, ça avait l'air intéressant mais je n'ai jamais vraiment approfondi la découverte, donc ça m'intéresse aussi de savoir ce que ça vaut par rapport aux autres.

Les premiers détails de ce nouvel album de power/folk

"Recording time is coming up. Most songs are written and rehearsed soon as the studio time is drawing nearer, starting to feel a bit stressed!! The album will be mixed in the end of January so I'd guess we're up for a late spring release.
The title of the new album will be 'Armod' and will be completely sung in Swedish except for the bonus tracks that will simply be English versions of the best (according to us) new songs.
This time we have concentrated on the traditional folk side of our music including more traditional folk songs (the majority of the material is still our own), more fiddles and flutes.
Be calm, the horrid sound of accordions will firmly be left behind!!
This is a way to finally devoting an entire album to the influences and getting that out of our system, so to speak, and to do the thing some have asked for during ten years. This is not the new direction of us but just the sound of THIS album.
We are prepared for nagging about lack of speed and the full use of the Swedish language and, of course, the cynical opinions that we lack inspiration and thus use more traditional folk songs.
The next time we'll take another step; I wonder what that can be."

Les Suédois de FALCONER sortiront leur septième album, "Armod", le 3 juin via Metal Blade Records. Le CD contiendra onze titres chantés en suédois, et a été une fois de plus enregistré au studio d'Andy La Rocque à Varberg, en Suède, entre décembre et janvier.

Pas de leur part: Falconer fait régulièrement une ou deux chansons en suédois sur leurs albums. Par contre, ce sera la première fois qu'ils chanteront intégralement en suédois.
