Après 5 ans d'absence, le retour du groupe est annoncé :
Hyaena is the new, long-waited album of progressive death metal legends Sadist.

Produced and mixed by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genova, Italy, Hyaena is a compelling mix of the band's traditional death metal and progressive influences with ethnic and tribal sounds, centered around an intriguing concept about one of Africa's most fascinating predators, whose legend says is ridden by the devil. This is without any doubt the band's most mature, diverse and experimental album to date, in which every detail has been meticulously looked after, musically and visually. The cover artwork, tracklist and a videoclip for the first single 'The Lonely Mountain' will be released soon.

Hyaena features a very special guest appearance by percussionist Jean N’Diaye, who will also follow the band on stage on the next tour, and will be available starting from October 16th on Scarlet Records.

Sadist recently launched a video teaser for Hyaena, their seventh studio album, featuring a medley of some new tracks.

Progressive death metal veterans Sadist have released a lyric video for the song "Bloody Bates", the first single taken from the band’s upcoming album, Spellbound. Watch the video below

Produced and mixed by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genova, Italy, Spellbound is centered around the life and work of influential filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. Each of the 11 songs included in the album traces the plot of a Hitchcock movie, including masterpieces such as Frenzy, Notorius, The Birds and of course, Psycho, all with a very distinctive Sadist twist that make them stand out. Musically, Spellbound is one the band’s heaviest and darkest albums to date, but the progressive and death metal influences that fans of the band have learned to love are still intact.

The cover artwork has been made by SoloMacello (Ennio Morricone, Nick Oliveri, Mos Generator) and the first edition of the album will be available in a 6-panel digipack, vinyl limited to 500 copies and all digital formats. Spellbound will be released on November 9th on Scarlet Records.

Italian progressive death metal legends Sadist (feat. Obscura's Jeroen Paul Thesseling and ex-Necrophagist's Romain Goulon) have released a lyric video for the new single, "Finger Food". The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, Firescorched, out May 20 via Agonia Records.

Firescorched is the fastest, highly experimental and most extreme album of Sadist's career. The songs are fresh, embrace blast beats and give away a horror vibe, in combination with gloomy and anguished lyrics. The band's adventurous style, featuring jazz and Middle-Eastern influences, pierces through a veil of progressive death metal that cloaks nine new compositions (eleven, if counting two bonus songs).

The band's personnel includes - besides constant member, co-founder, guitarist and keyboardist Tommy Talamanca - long-running vocalist Trevor Sadist (with the band since 1996), new virtuoso drummer Romain Goulon (ex-Necrophagist, ex-Benighted) and fretless bass master Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Obscura, ex-Pestilence).

"Firescorched can be described as Sadist 2.0," comments Talamanca. "It's not a real concept album in the classical meaning of the word, despite the fact that most of the lyrics are somehow connected. Some of them are real horror stories, and the whole album sounds really creepy. We all love the cover artwork, which adds to that feeling."

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genoa (Italy) with artwork design by Paolo Puppo.

Italian progressive death metal legends, Sadist, announce their tenth studio album, Something To Pierce, set for release on March 7 via Agonia Records. Pre-order here, pre-save here.

The song "No Feast For Flies" is the first single to be released off the album. It's being premiered in the form of a lyric video, which can be found below.

Following the well-acclaimed Firescorched, released in 2022, the new album Something To Pierce promises to be even more aggressive, both musically and lyrically. The band's tenth instalment is a bold amalgamation of technique, aggression and experimentation; in short, "a further step towards the definition of a unique music style, which you can’t help but love…or hate," comments founding member & mastermind, Tommy Talamanca. "Like it or not, nobody sounds like Sadist!"

Something To Pierce was record, mixed and mastered by Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studios in Genoa, Italy. The cover artwork was created by Andreas Christanetoff of Armaada Art (Aborted).

Sadist started out in the early nineties, having emerged from Genoa in Italy. The band went ahead of its time, with an adventurous take on the then-developing progressive death metal sub-genre. Its presence was firmly established through an unmistakable style, detectable since the debut instalment Above The Light (1993). After a five year hiatus (2000-2005), Sadist returned to its proven sonic formula of jazz-infected epic prog-death, fraught with Middle-Eastern influences.

Along its path, Sadist kicked off concerts for Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and Motorhead, and gained exposure at high-profile fests (Wacken Open Air, Gods Of Metal, Hellfest). In 2023 alone, the band shared the stage with Samael, Pantera, Dark Tranquility and Sepultura, and continued to play festivals and one-off dates throughtout 2024, amidst putting final touches on new album, Something To Pierce. Among the group's last live appeacnces are Prog Power Europe and Corpsorate Death Fest.
