En fait ce qui fait réellement chier c'est la partie du milieu interprétée par le line up actuel.
Steeler c'était pas mal du tout, le début de sa carrière solo avec Bob Rock et Jeff Scott Soto bien aussi et la dernière partie avec les invités était très honnête même si pas bien pensée du tout. Et c'est triste à dire mais Rudi Pell s'en sort bien mieux sur les titres de Blackmore que sur son propre répertoire.

17ème album...

German guitarist Axel Rudi Pell will release his 17th album, "Knights Call", on March 23 via SPV/Steamhammer.

"I'd rather have long-term success than the hit album everybody is always referring to." Pell knows exactly what he is talking about. His solo career has lasted for almost three decades now. In the international hard rocking universe, Pell is nothing short of a phenomenon: a musician who flies under the radar, but certainly isn't invisible. He's an honest worker who has learned his skills from scratch. He's never experienced writer's block, has never followed trends or fashions. You know what to expect from him.

So, what's new? "Game Of Sins" from 2016 was a huge success and peaked at No. 11 on the German chart. More than 1.5 million people worldwide have bought Pell's albums. What an impressive number! But there is no reason for the axeman to rest on his laurels. "Why should I retire?" asks the 57-year-old. And answers his own question: "As long as I can do what I like I'm the happiest man in the world."

Basically, Pell is living his very own dream: He has turned his hobby into a profession. But there's also a lot of determination involved. His ongoing passion drives him all the time, he's always on the lookout for a better chorus, a better solo, a better bridge, a better song. "Writing songs is like a lot of things in life: It's my way or the highway!" 17ème album...

J'adore les 3 petits "...", ça en dit tellement long

Mise à part ça, j'ai juste l'album "Magic" - qui est franchement pas mal (un petit côté "Grave Digger", mais en plus fin).
Après j'en ai écouté pas mal, mais j'en ai vraiment pas retenu grand chose : The Masquerade Ball, Shadow Zone, Kings And Queens, Mystica, Tales Of The Crown... et je crois que j'ai lâché l'affaire après "The Crest".

Est-ce que j'ai manqué quelque chose ?
Y'a un de ces albums cité ci-dessus qui vaut la peine que je reécoute ? Peut-être Masquerade Ball ? Ou un autre que je n'ai pas cité ?

Le truc c'est que la recette Axel Rudi Pell est toujours la même, si t'as Masquerade Ball t'as un peu le meilleur de tous les albums qui ont suivi... j'aime bien mais c'est très redondant. Y a peut-être Oceans Of Time (1998) qui était vraiment bon aussi avec Gioli. J'aime beaucoup aussi la période Jeff Scott Soto (Magic, Between The Walls et Black Moon Pyramid)... et puis les débuts sont très sympa car ça change mais rien d'exceptionnel non plus.

Au moins quand il changeait de chanteur, cela apportait automatiquement un minimum de fraicheur, à défaut de nouveauté.
Mais comme désormais c'est le même gars depuis 20 ans...

D'ailleurs Johnny Gioeli fait partie de 2 autres groupes pour s'occuper.

Franchement je ne comprends pas l'intérêt pour un artiste de sortir toujours et encore les mêmes chansons, les mêmes plans, les mêmes mélodies voire le même son pendant aussi longtemps.

En termes de stagnation artistique, ça doit être un des cas les plus corsés. Après si son public (allemand) suit quand même, ma foi tant mieux pour lui, mais je ne sais pas comment il fait pour rester motivé.

Je vais voir pour Black Moon Pyramid, Between the Walls et Oceans of Time (et peut-être retenter Masquerade Ball...).
Mais j'avoue avoie une préférence pour le chanteur Jeff Scott Soto : il a une voix plus rentre-dedans.

Je ne vois aucun rapport entre ARP et Grave Digger, hormis le côté répétitif et stagnant.

Sinon, Oceans of time est l'album qui a façonné son style musical et son son définitif, bien que Magic en posait déjà largement les bases (The Clown is dead, que ce titre se traine en longueur !). Depuis, il est inamovible. Oceans of time reste pour moi son meilleur de cette période qui n'en finit pas pour lui, ne serait-ce que pour le tube "Carousel". Masquerade Ball est pas mal aussi, et j'aimais bien Kings and Queens. Mais bon, c'est clair que sa carrière devient un peu ridicule à tout le temps refaire la même chose. Y'a justement que ses albums de reprises qui se démarquent un peu.

j'ai découvert ARP avec cet album, c'est le meilleur

Le titre Nightmare et Magic rappellent un peu les ambiances de l'album Excalibur de Grave Digger, mais ça s'arrête là.
J'aurais du préciser, c'est vrai.

Sinon merci pour les conseil ; je vois qu'Oceans of Time revient souvent - je vais poser une oreille dessus.
Et je vais redonner une chance à Masquerade Balls (je me souviens du titre Tear Down the Wall pas mal du tout).
