Legendary UK hard rockers QUARTZ are officially working on new material following their reunion gig last December in Birmingham. Today, Mike Hopkins (original guitarist), Derek Arnold (original bassist) and Malcolm Cope (original drummer) are working with Bob Daffurn (guitarist) to write and record new material, drawing on metal, rock and pop influences. Tiens cela me fait penser que je n'ai toujours pas écouté le troisième album, alors qu'il est sorti il y a presque 30 ans..
Sinon EXCELLENT groupe que l'on devrait voir l'année prochaine au Keep It True !!!

Sur metal archives, ils mettent également Geoff Nichols (clavieriste d'origine) et David Garner (chanteur sur le 3ème album) dans le line-up. Mais c'est peut-être une erreur.

Sur leur 3éme album "against all odds", le chanteur c'est Geoff Bate. très bon album, un peu FM comme production mais les compos sont très bonnes

Quartz dates back to as early as 1974 when they were known as BANDY LEGS. They signed to Jet Records in 1976 and supported BLACK SABBATH and AC/DC. The band changed their name to Quartz for their 1977 debut album, Quartz. The album was produced by Tony Iommi and Quartz toured with Black Sabbath to support this release.
Quartz released their second studio album, Stand Up and Fight, in 1980 and their third, Against All Odds, in 1983 before calling it quits. In 1979 keyboardist Geoff Nicholls left to join Black Sabbath.
Geoff Nicholls fait bien partie du line up de la reformation, c'est d'ailleurs ce line up qui a fait le concert à Birmingham en décembre (Tony Iommi était dans le public il paraît)

Un album avec inédits et titres ré-enregistrés sort fin janvier :
Originating from the heavy metal city of Birmingham, England, Quartz date back to 1974, and were considered to be at the forefront of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal boom. Their albums such as Stand Up And Fight or the Satan's Serenade EP, are known as the classics of the genre.
On January 31st, Skol Records will release Too Hot To Handle, which can be considered as a complete unreleased album from back in the day, as it's a collection of 16 previously unreleased songs recorded between 1981 and 1982. Some of those tracks were re-recorded in different versions for the Against All Odds album (1983), and some of them see the light of the day for the first time ever. One thing is sure: Too Hot To Handle is a solid piece of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal history, and history of heavy metal in general, because of the band's connection with the legendary Black Sabbath.
The album's artwork was painted by Italian artist Roberto Toderico, known from cooperation with such extreme metal acts as Sinister, Loudblast and Asphyx.

Je crois qu'il n'est jamais sorti en CD, datant de 1983, sauf en bootleg grec que je crois avoir vu sur le net. Moi j'ai le Lp classique et le picture disque.
