"Night Gaunt formed in Rome in the November of 2013 from the ashes of Hypnos, a band born a year before with a different line up. Inspired by bands like Candlemass, Trouble and Celtic Frost, the combination of each member's main influences creates a dark, raw and personal traditional doom metal. The name refers to the Lovecraftian faceless creature who used to kidnap the author at nightime to take him into the Dreamland. After a few live shows in the capital, in April 2014 the band recorded its self-titled debut album that after a short time attracts the attention of the italian label Bloodrock Records. After that, the band expands its live activity playing with acts like Doctor Cyclops, Caronte, Mystifier, Satan's Satyrs, Jack Frost and Isole, and in festivals such as Navajo Calling and Florence Doom Fest. The album was released on Cd ad Vinyl in the early 2015 via Bloodrock Records and on tape via The Arcane Tapes.
Night Gaunt is the sound of the suffocating weight of loss, sorrow and guilt in a sleepless night. Chants of darkness and the morbid, a nightmare of Poe in music where the inner restlessness takes over in a room crowded with unwanted presences."
