C'est peut-être intéressant : un live constitué de 2 concerts en 88 et 89 vient de sortir chez Metal War Production (?). Mais après il faut voir la qualité du son sur ce genre de sorties, c'est pas toujours fameux...

Metal War Productions has just released a live album from the long-defunct Dutch extreme metallers PESTILENCE, entitled "Chronicles of the Scourge". The collection includes two live shows: Zeche in Bochum, Germany on November 18, 1988 and Kix Festival in Veghel, The Netherlands on June 24, 1989. According to a press release from Metal War, "this killer release has been made possible with full permission and cooperation of Martin Van Drunen [ex-PESTILENCE frontman] himself! He has been working with us on this idea from its ghastly conception to the grotesque reality it has become." Metal War Productions mailorder customers will receive a bonus rehearsal disc with their order, limited to 1,000 copies.

ça sent en effet la prod de merde...
C'est un truc officiel au moins? Parce que l'histoire de la collaboration avec Martin Van Drunen, ça me fait un peu marrer, dans la mesure ou Pestilence, c'est avant tout Patrick Mameli...

Difficile à dire, c'est présenté comme de l'officiel mais j'ai également un léger doute...

On a tous des travers et Pestilence est l'un des rares groupes de Death avec Atheist et Death que j'aime bien écouter.
"Testimony of the ancients" est une tuerie...

Guitarist Patrick Mameli has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that he has resurrected his late '80s/early '90s death metal outfit PESTILENCE with a brand new lineup, featuring Patrick on vocals and guitar, Tony Choy (ATHEIST, CYNIC) on bass and Peter Wildoer (DARKANE, NON-HUMAN LEVEL) on drums. Patrick is reportedly working on new material which he has described as a modern fusion of "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) and "Spheres" (1993), but even more technical and brutal. The group's new album will tentatively be recorded by Danish producer Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, INVOCATOR) and produced by Patrick himself, and will be issued through Holland's Mascot Records.
Speaking to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding his decision to bring PESTILENCE back from the dead, Mameli stated, "It's not a reunion, because I will not be playing with any of the old lineup guys, except Tony Choy [who played on 'Testimony'], of course so...
"I always stated there WILL NEVER BE a reunion, and there won't be, since I never look back at the past and I refuse now to play with people that are not on the same musical level as I am.
"I sang on 'Testimony' and 'Spheres' (two albums later from 'Consuming Impulse' [1989]!!), so no need for [original PESTILENCE frontman] Martin [Van Drunen]. This because of the above statement I just made. Furthermore, Martin is doing other things. Good for him.
"So now you have two members that were in PESTILENCE before and one new guy.
"The reason why I bring PESTILENCE back to life is that people/fans keep asking me for this. The time is right now and Mascot is giving me the opportunity to do so.
"As you know, I have always been the driving force behind PESTILENCE, writing all the music and so forth, so that I can state: I will bring back PESTILENCE to life. More tech and way more brutal than ever before."

Bon, par-contre, il se reforme tout seul si j'ai bien compris !
Bon, ok, il y a Tony Choy qui était sur Testimony Of The Ancients, mais avec Marco Foddis à la batterie, et pourquoi pas Martin Van Drunen au chant ok, pas à la basse, faut pas déconner non plus
), ça aurait été un peu plus culte comme line-up.
J'espère en tout cas que Mameli assurera les vocaux comme à l'époque de Testimony Of The Ancients et Spheres... genre se serait con qu'il chante en voix claire et que quelques vocaux death soient enregistrés...
Perso, j'en ai un peu rien à foutre de cette reformation. Je suis un gros fan de Pestilence, tous albums confondus. Mais sérieux, ça fait des années qu'il est dans un trip beaucoup plus jazzy et technique le père Mameli (bien plus bizarre encore que Spheres), alors je vois pas bien la motivation... (enfin $i, je la vois un peu...
).
J'aurais préféré une tournée de C-187, avec des morceaux de Pestilence, chantés par Mameli (parce que le chanteur de C-187 ne collerait vraiment pas à Pestilence).
Vu le line-up, on aura droit aux excellents Testimony Of The Ancients et Spheres, mais j'ai bien peur que les cultissimes Malleus Maleficarum et Consuming Impulse passent à la trappe, car jugés trop primaires et trop immatures par Mameli.

Ben moi c'est "Testimony of the ancient" que j'aime , je sais pas ce qu'il y avait avant, Sphere j'ai pas voulu écouter quand on m'a dit que c'était du jazz
Donc je suis content et je sais même pas pourquoi en fait.

avant t'avais "Consuming impulse" (89) et "Malleus Maleficarum" (88) deux chefs d'oeuvre du death metal, le premier opus était musicalement plus thrash que foncierement death.
C'est consuming impulse qui est du pur death , très Leprosy dans le son.

ça peut-être pas mal, mais comme d'autres l'ont dit si c'est le Pestilence jazzy ça sera sans moi, et si c'est pour virer brutal jazz deathcore comme tous les 25000 groupes actuels, je ne vois pas non plus l'intérêt.
Par contre, un mix entre "Consuming" et "Testimony"...

un peu pretencieux le monsieur je trouve, c'est ce "connard" qui avait arreté Pestilence car il trouvait qu'il y avait trop de bouffon dans le metal y a quelque année. Y en a qui on pas les chevilles enflées je trouve
la question es pour reforme t'il pestilence ? pour arrondir ces fins de moi ? donc si c'est pas une reunion, il vas donc zapper la discographie du groupe anterieure a testimony ?

Tony Choy n'a pas joué sur "spheres", il avait déjà quitté le groupe. C'est Jeroen Thesseling qui fait la basse.
J'en profite pour faire une parenthèse hors-sujet, ça intéressera probablement certains : le dénommé Jeroen Thesseling a rejoint Steffen Kummerer (guitare et chant), Hannes Grossmann (batterie, ex-Necrophagist) et mon pote Christian Münzner (guitare, Civilization One, Majesty, ex-Necrophagist) dans Obscura, qui va, on s'en doute vu les protagonistes, officier dans du death metal technique

PESTILENCE entrera aux Hansen Studios au Danemark à la mi-octobre pour enregistrer leur nouvel album intitulé "Resurrection Macabre". le disque sortira en 2009 chez Mascot Records et porposera 11 nouveaux titres ainsi que 3 classiques du groupe réenregistrés. A noter que ces 3 chansons seront choisies par les fans du groupe qui peuvent voter pour leur 3 titres favoris sur le site

plus le guitarise patrice ujterwijk qui jouait sur consuming impulse, testimony et sphere qui fera parti du line up version live
pour le moment les vieux trois morceaux qui seront réengistrés sont out of the body (consuming impulse), chemo therapy (malleus) et lost soul (testimony) donc si vous en voulez d'autre faut votez sur le sondage proposé par le groupe

Netherlands-based death metal legends PESTILENCE are currently finishing up their first record in 15 years. Expect more brutal, heavier and faster songs than any old Pestilence album. The album, entitled Resurrection Macabre, features eleven new tracks and the limited edition first print will include three re-recordings chosen by fans. 'Out Of The Body', 'Chemo Therapy' and 'Lost Souls' were voted most.
The songs of the new album are lyrically more in the vein of Consuming Impulse. Meaning, they’re more 'reality-style' than religious or philosophical. Some songtitles are: 'Hangman (Into The Mind Of An Executioner)', 'Synthetic Grotesque (Trying To Create Through Cloning)', 'Fiend (Drugaddiction)', 'Resurrection Macabre (The Return Of The Pestilence)', 'Hate Suicide (Last Hours Of A Suicide-bomber)' just to name a few.
Expect a new track to be added to the band’s MySpace before the end of this year. The album cover can already be viewed at the left. Resurrection Macabre will be released March 16, 2009

Ça me fait marrer qu'ils présentent Tony Choy comme étant bassiste dans Cynic... Il a quitté le groupe avant Focus.
Par-contre, ils disent pas que c'est un ex-Pestilence alors qu'il joue sur Testimony Of The Ancients .
C'est plus ce que c'était VS.
