Il est également batteur dans un groupe appelé Brutus assez approprié pour du Brutal Death Metal à lyrics philosophiquement fondés sur le gore et l'assassinat des femmes postérieurement aux derniers outrages subis.
S'écoute gentiment et à l'oreille, peu, voire pas de reproches à faire au batteur.

Guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli of resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metallers PESTILENCE revealed to Mexico's Search & Destroy web site that the band's forthcoming studio album will be titled "Doctrine" and it will be produced by V. Santura (DARK FORTRESS, TRIPTYKON). A tentative February 2011 release is expected.

Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (PESTILENCE, OBSCURA), who is known for his signature six-string fretless playing in progressive death metal, has commented on PESTILENCE's recent lineup changes.
"Having played the first few shows with the new lineup now, I can only tell that we're very satisfied about the chemistry of this new team," he said. "Playing the older material during live performances sounds brutal as it never did before and we're busy working together on new material and arrangements for the upcoming sixth studio album, 'Doctrine', which will be fully recorded with fretless six-string bass.
"Looking back to the 'Spheres' period 1993-1994, it's obvious that our new drummer Yuma van Eekelen adds a special stamp to the band's style.
"Personally, I feel that this new rhythm section forms the right balance between brutality and technical approach.
"As most of our fans are already aware of, every album of PESTILENCE sounds different and I'm quite sure that 'Doctrine' is going to be a mind-boggling work for most of you guys!"

je m'en rappelle qu'au hellfest 2009 il y avait LE dilemme : pestilence / destruction. j'avais déjà vu destruction plusieurs fois et j'allais les revoir donc j'ai opté pour pestilence ! sauf que j'ai trouvé ça sans âme. bien exécuté mais à mille lieux des frissons que j'ai en écoutant consuming impulse ou testimony of the ancients et sans charisme. c'était pas un moment insupportable mais si c'était à refaire j'irais thrasher un coup avec mes chères bouchers teutons !
"Sinister", a brand new song from the Dutch death metallers PESTILENCE, can be streamed below. The track comes off the band's new album, "Doctrine", which will be released late April through Mascot Records. The eleven-track CD was recorded and mixed at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer Victor Bullok (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS).
Regarding the direction of the band's new music, PESTILENCE guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli previously stated, "The new material will sound, again, way different from the previous albums, and is going to top all previous PESTILENCE material, stated by insiders already.
"The new songs have the rawness of [1989's] 'Consuming Impulse', the theatrical [quality] of 1991's 'Testimony Of The Ancients' and the brutallity of [2009's comeback effort] 'Resurrection Macabre'. But this time we will try to top all our material by using the RG2228-GK [Ibanez guitar]."

Pas faux !!! Ceci dit, pour avoir réécouté le dernier album cette semaine, je maintiens que c'est un très bon album de death metal, mais effectivement c'est pas du tout du Pestilence (ni version death old-school, ni version "jazzy").
En fait, j'aurais préféré qu'ils se reforment pour torcher des trucs à la Spheres... à défaut de plaire, ça aurait au moins été intéressant et un minimum logique dans l'évolution du groupe.
Mais comme l'a dit Madiane, en live c'est tout pourri. J'ai vu deux catastrophes en deux fois, donc là...
C'est ce qu'ils avaient fait avec CS 187 mais comme tout le monde s'en branlait Mameli a reformé PESTILENCE et on voit le résultat... Perso j'aurais préféré qu'il reste dans son délire avec CS 187... Mais qui suisje pour dire que ce retournement de sitation sent l'opportunisme à plein nez.
Mameli avait demandé à Van Drunen de le rejoindre pour la reformation de PESTILENCE, mais il (mameli) ne voulait plus trop jouer les morceaux des deux premiers albums... Vous comprendrez facilement pourquoi ça ne s'est jamais fait et ne risque pas d'arriver.
C187 c'était plus violent et syncopé que Spheres... mais ouais, c'était plus logique vu les trips de Mameli. Revenir à un truc plus death "classique", voire brutal death, c'était bizarre... et inutile.
Houlala, pas fameux le nouveau titre en écoute, "sinister".
Concernant "resurrection macabre", je suis mitigé. Il y de bons moments, oui, mais c'est on s'ennuie quand même pas mal sur la durée. J'avais lu une interview de Patrick Mameli qui disait en gros que recommencer à écrire des chansons de death metal avait été plutôt facile... Ben on s'est rendu compte tout seul que tu t'es pas cassé le cul pour l'écrire, cet alboum, mon petit Patrick!
Je ne sais pas quelle est la part d'opportunisme dans cette reformation, la seule chose qui apparait clairement, c'est que ça ne coule plus de source pour l'ami Mameli. J'aime tous les vieux Pestilence, y compris "spheres", ces albums ont une âme, on sent les mecs impliqués, ils aiment ce qu'ils jouent. "Resurrection macabre", quant à lui, sonne souvent forcé, pas inspiré.

Resurrected late '80s/early '90s death metallers PESTILENCE will enter the studio in February to begin recording their new album, "Obsideo". The drum tracks on the CD will be laid down by Dave Haley of Australia's PSYCROPTIC. Songtitles set to appear on the effort include "Necromorph", "Saturation", "Soulrot", "Laniatus" and "Superconcious". According to guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mameli, the CD's overall lyrical theme will be "the journey of the human soul."
