Le DVD sort fin septembre voire début octobre chez Universal normalement.

Que j'aime tout autant que Rising, et histoire qu'il n'y ait pas que des votes pour ce dernier.

On continue dans les lives d'archive qui n'arrêtent pas de sortir en ce moment :

Live In Düsseldorf 1976

According to a posting on The Rainbow Fanclan Legacy, the second of three shows from RAINBOW's September 1976 tour of Germany, newly mixed from the multi-tracks, is nearing release, and follows the pattern set by the previously issued Cologne recordings. Only one track from this particular gig is believed to have ever been issued before ("Catch the Rainbow" on the old Connoisseur title "Live in Germany"). The show dates from September 27, 1976 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and features the regular setlist from that tour:

J'ai acheté hier le Live Kölner SportHalle 25/09/1976, édité pour le 30° anniversaire de la tournée.
Set list :

J'ai été élevé depuis tout petit acec On Stage (Vinyl et cd ensuite), donc mon jugement reste influencé par cet album.
C'est Stargazer en live qui a motivé cet achat, mais cette version, sans orchestre symphonique n'apporte rien de plus que l'original, est même moins puissante. Pour le reste, des versions un peu modifiées de ce que je connaissais, mais rien d'essentiel. Le son me semble moins bon que On Stage, souffle permanent , ex l'intro de Greensleeves et les solos de Mistreated. Une intro sur Man On The Silver Mountain assez Boogy, délire de Blackmore.
Déçu par le livret minimaliste, quand on a connu les excellentes photos grand format du vinyl On Stage.
Pour les fans collectionneurs uniquement (j'en fais un peu parti), Sinon je préfère rester sur On Stage et sur Rising pour Stargazer.

The last of three shows from RAINBOW's September 1976 tour of Germany (Düsseldorf and Köln are already available), newly mixed from the multi-tracks, and issued to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band's first world tour is finally released in Europe. As before the two-CD set features the regular setlist from that tour:

01. Kill The King
02. Mistreated
03. Sixteenth Century Greensleeves
04. Catch The Rainbow
05. Man On The Silver Mountain
06. Stargazer
07. Still I'm Sad
08. Do You Close Your Eyes

The two-CD comes with an eight-page colour booklet with notes and pictures. The release is expected sometime in October/November, according to Deep-Purple.net.

In Japan this two-CD was already released in May 2006 as part of a six-CD box containing all three concerts. In Europe "Live in Köln" (Cologne) was released in July 2006, "Live in Düsseldorf 1976" in February 2007.

Note: Although the CD is supposed to be recorded in the Messzentrum Halle in Nürnberg, there are still sources that claim RAINBOW played that night in the Mannheim Multihalle and never did Nürnberg that tour. Even the booklets of "Live In Germany 1976" (released in 1990) and "Live In Köln 1976" name Mannhelm for September 28.

- On Stage

- le dvd "Live On Stage'77"

La nouvelle de la sortie d'un autre concert me plait bien, mais je ne vois pas ce qu'il peut apporter de plus qui n'est pas déja sur les autres.
J'ai du mal à saisir l'intérêt de l'édition d'un autre concert. A part peut-être pour le fan extreme fétichiste et tout et tout ... qui veut se composer une trilogie (c'est très à la mode les trilogies).

J'ai trouvé dans une collection "éco" masterplan un DVD live de Rainbow enregistré à Budokan sans doute sur le bent out of shape tour au vu de la set list avec JLTurner, R. Glover

, David Rosenthal, et chuck Burgi aux drums.

JL Turner déclare qu'il serait le chanteur légitime si jamais Blackmore reformait RAINBOW, hypothèse qu'il n'exclut pas :

Joe: That is the question of the universe. There have been so many rumors about a reunion with different lineups. Ritchie always gets tired eventually. This one is waning. I have heard that he is now hit-and-miss with the band as some gigs are full and some gigs are not full. He is also picking up the electric more and people are always screaming for PURPLE and RAINBOW. I think it is possible that a reunion could happen — that is a political answer but he always gets tired of things and he always is looking for new blood so there is always the chance of something happening.

Classic Rock Revisited: If RAINBOW were to get back together who should be the singer? Ronnie James Dio or you?

Joe: I know it won't be Dio because I talk to Ronnie and he is doing quite well on his own. We were offered to do the three singers of RAINBOW but that would have been a nightmare. Actually, we all get along so that might have been cool but I know Ronnie would never do it. Graham [Bonnet] would do it. I will tell you something funny. One night I was in Madrid with my friend Doogie White and we were absolutely plastered. Doogie goes, "Fuck you, it should be me as the singer if RAINBOW reformed." I was like, "You're going to sing my songs?" I was really digging at him. I said, "What was the name of the RAINBOW album you were on?" I was taking the piss out of him and then three Jack Daniels later were hugging. He thinks he was the unsung hero of RAINBOW. He emails me all the time about the gigs he does with Yngwie Malmsteen. He once told me he had to sing seven shows in a row. I asked him, "How do you sing seven shows in row" and he said, "Nobody gives a shit about the singer in this band." Okay, now I will answer your question directly: It should be me. I will tell you why, Dio had the heavier sort of dungeons and dragons stuff — don't get me wrong, I love the stuff and I am even singing some of his stuff like "Last in Line" and "Rainbow in the Dark" in BIG NOIZE. I am a huge fan of Ronnie James Dio but we [RAINBOW with Joe Lynn Turner] did have the sales. We also had the worldwide notoriety and the commercial success. They had a poll one time about who should be the singer and overwhelmingly it was me — and I need the work [laughter].

Classic Rock Revisited: You are the one guy who had always got along with Ritchie Blackmore. How in hell have you pulled that one off?

Joe: Many, many psychology courses [laughter]. I have an un-reactive mind. I have learned the Buddhist way to respond and not react. If you react to Ritchie then that is what he expects. If you learn to not react to him but instead respond with something that challenges his psyche then he respects that. Ritchie is the kind of guy who likes to push and pull you so he can see what kind of person you really are. It is a power struggle with him. One night we were crawling around on the floor drunk and I told him, "We are not going to last very long because I am afraid of intimacy." Ritchie goes, "And we are getting way too friendly." I just said, "We better enjoy it while we have it." He still says great things about me in interviews and I am really proud that he does that. The only differences we ever had were when we were fighting over what we thought was best for the music. Ritchie wanted everything to be the best it could possibly be. He wanted you to dig into the lyrics and the music and make it the best. When it was not up to snuff, he would just call the guy out on it. When he would say that to me then I would go write another lyric and sing another song better than I did before and he would say, "Now that's it." On "Street of Dreams", Ritchie came in after I sang the vocal — I had a really great moment on that song, obviously. He said, "I can't play the lead. I'm intimidated." I said, "What?" He said, "Your vocal is spot-on." I said, "It is a good vocal and it is just what we believe in with others lives and reincarnation." I broke open two Heinekens and I said, "You go in there. This is our creation; this is our baby." He lit the candles and got in the mood but he rose to the occasion. He came out and said, "Cheers, mate. Thanks for the inspiration." We were in Copenhagen at the time and there was a huge storm. They are at a point of longitude and attitude where there is a lot of huge electrical storms. They had a huge electric rod on top of the building. We were discussing this and there was a loud snap and all the lights went out. We were sitting in the dark. All of the candles came out and then he looked at me and said, "This is a sign." It was pretty eerie. Eventually, the lights came back on and the machines pumped back on and we went back to work. He would say, "Now we are working with other powers — not the lower powers but the higher powers."

Et pis d'abord, Blackmore il est content avec son groupe actuel, pourquoi qu'il reformerait Rainbow ??

Je ne pense pas non plus que Blackmore reformera Rainbow un jour. Il est très heureux avec son groupe actuel. Et puis c'est pas à 70 ans qu'il le fera ....

Comment tu peux en être aussi sur ?
Ca ne repose sur rien ...
Dans le monde du rock, on a tout vu et on peut encore tout voir...
C'est pas parcequ'il n'a plus rien fait en Hard depuis 1995 qu'il n'en refera plus jamais.
Je ne suis pas du tout d'accord..... et bien au contraire, je ne serai pas surpris qu'il prenne tout le monde à revers tres prochainement.

Dio en a 66 et il va bientôt enregistrer un nouveau Black Sabbath et repartir en tournée derriere ....

Et c'est justement parcequ'il a dépassé la soixantaine que je le verrai revenir assez rapidement au Rock ....
Je ne serai pas surpris de voir Rainbow en tête d'affiche des festivaux européeens de 2009 ....

Wait and see.

Il me semble qu'il y a quelque temps (genre 2 ans) Dio dans une interview n'excluait pas une reformation du groupe avec lui au chant.
Au jour d'aujourd'hui toujours rien ...
Maintenant c'est JL Turner ...
Oui enfin on verra bien ...

En tout cas même si je n'y crois pas, si une telle reformation se faisait je serais aux anges

J'ai jamais été un gros fan de Rainbow.
Mes préférés sont Bent out of shape, pour son côté mélodique, varié (avec 2 excellents instrumentaux). Le premier Rainbow est sympa aussi, même si un peu inégal, et il a mal vieilli (l'inverse de Rising).

Sinon je suis pas fan fan de Rising, Long live rock 'n' roll... la période Turner est sympa, mais y'a du déchet sur Straight between her eyes et Difficult to cure.
J'aime pas le dernier, Stranger, Doogie White est un chanteur de seconde zone, passe-partout, il n'a pas une forte personnalité contrairement aux autres chanteurs de Rainbow.

Graham Bonnet... bon c'est spécial, quand je le vois sur scène, j'ai plus l'impresion que sa place est au zoo de Vincennes mais bon. Enfin Down to earth est un bon album, c'est certain.

Hormis Cozy, les batteurs de Rainbow qui font poum-tchac poum-tchac, j'ai du mal. Quand on est habitué au swing de Purple, ça fait mal.
Et je trouve en général que Ritchie prend toute la place, écrase tout le reste (flagrant sur les impros interminables de On Stage), y'a pas vraiment de complémentarité claviers-guitare comme chez Purple.

Et Bob Daisley est meilleur que Jimmy Bain sinon, plus compétent techniquement, avec une carrière bien plus complète (Ozzy, Uriah Heep, Steve Vaï...)... Bain a surtout été connu pour être le bassiste de Dio, mais à part ça...

Pas d'accord.
La performance de Doogie White sur cet album est tout simplement sublime.
Sa performance vocale sur la tournée qui a suivi surpassait de loin celles de Turner ...

Tiens, j'avais pas voté! Ca faisait longtemps que je ne les avais pas écouté, mais ils me manquaient de trop (mon père les a tous dans mon ancien chez moi). Du coup j'ai racheté la plupart!
