Hello everyone,

For those that are unaware, things happened this morning that were beyond my control. I was essentially forced to confirm Therion's appearance as the date and confirmation of the show appeared on their website.

I want you to know that I have had trouble with their U.S. booking agent from the beginning. His only concern was to do his job and he could care less about the "coolness" factor from being announced at the festival or any other appearances in the States. I can understand that even though I didn't like it. He confirmed my show first and then proceeded to book their tour around it. I asked them to keep it quiet, but "quiet" is not in Jaxx's (club in VA) dictionary. Thus, tour dates started leaking. I had Therion withold my confirmation until March 1st. The next thing I know is that I get an email showing me that their entire tour was posted on their website, including my date without my consent. The damage had been done and there was nothing I could do. I have no idea who is responsible and at this point, it's a moot issue. I will always strive for secrecy, but this year it has been very tough.

I had every intention of emailing the list with the date on Feb 28th to give you a head start. I can only apologize and tell you that it is not my fault. I have not officially acknowledged the date of the festival on the website or in any of my postings on various threads on my forum. I just now got home from work and could get the word out to you via the mailing list. The date of the show is Sept 16-17. For those wondering about hotels, you need to book now. Evidently, there is a "hair dressers" show in town that weekend and they are taking up some of the rooms, specifically the Fairfield. Rest assured, this convention or whatever it is was not announced when I booked my rooms LAST YEAR so I had no idea of knowing that a bunch of cosmetologists were going to be in midtown (once again, specifically at the Fairfield) at the same time as us.

Once again, I apologize for the way things worked out. It was beyond my control.

STRATOVARIUS TO HEADLINE PROGPOWER USA VI

ATLANTA – ProgPower USA has confirmed Stratovarius as one of the headliners of the festival’s sixth installment, to be held September 16 and 17 at Earthlink Live in Atlanta.

This performance will be the Finnish power metal band’s first ever in North America. It is also the first confirmed show since the reformation of the "classic" lineup including vocalist Timo Koltipelto.

"We feel that the time is now finally right, and that the legendary ProgPower is the perfect setting for us," said keyboardist Jens Johansson. "We are really excited about this chance to connect with our fans there."


Only a total of 10 bands will be invited to play the acclaimed festival. Other bands confirmed to date are Sweden’s dark symphonic metal band Therion, Denmark’s Manticora, and Norway’s Circus Maximus, whose debut is due this spring on Sensory Records. Manticora and Circus Maximus will be making their North American debuts while Therion used the festival as the cornerstone for their North American tour in the fall.







"We are looking forward to going to the USA for the first time in our 18-year-long music career," said Christofer Johnsson, guitarist for Therion. "We will play a ‘best of’ set that will cover most of our 12 studio albums and I hope we will satisfy both older and younger fans. We are bringing with us six singers, the same as we used for the previous touring on these new albums. We have heard a lot about ProgPower and we’ve had the question why we’re not playing there, as it would be perfect for our type of stuff - so we are particularly looking forward to playing there."

Additional bands will be announced weekly on the ProgPower USA website.

Tickets will go on sale April 2 at 10 a.m. EST via all Ticketmaster outlets. Only 900 tickets will be made available to the public. Advance Gold Badges are already sold out.

One of America’s most highly praised festivals, ProgPower USA has sold-out for three consecutive years over five months in advance. There is currently a three year wait on the Gold Badge waiting list. Last year ProgPower USA drew fans from 32 states and 12 counties including Japan and Australia.

ANGRA AND CONCEPTION COMPLETE PROGPOWER USA LINE UP

ATLANTA - Brazil's Angra and Norway's Conception will round out the lineup
of this year's ProgPower USA.

Conception will feature the entire original lineup, including Roy Khan
(Kamelot) on vocals and Tore Ostby on guitar (ex-ARK), in their first
performance since 1997. "After having experienced some real blasts at
ProgPower with ARK and Kamelot, we are honored and excited to be back and
perform the first ever US gig with Conception!" said Khan and Ostby.

Angra is returning to ProgPower after making its US debut at the festival
in 2003.

Stratovarius, Therion, Orphaned Land, Pink Cream 69, Manticora, Circus
Maximus, Symphorce, and Stride have already been announced for the show.

ProgPower will take place on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17 at
Earthlink Live in Atlanta.
