Bassist Mike Majewski of the reformed Texas-based underground death metallers DEVOURMENT has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"That's right fuckers, DEVOURMENT has recorded a brand new song called 'Autoerotic Asphyxiation'. It was recored at the same studio where 'Molesting the Decapitated' and 'Babykiller' were recorded and engineered by James Delgado of the band KILL THE CLIENT who did an amazing job and got us the insanely heavy sound we were looking for. This is just a promo song and a teaser that will be re-recorded for the long awaited [second] album, 'Butcher the Weak'. It is downloadable [at this location] and will be in the downloads section of this site soon. Download it and spread it everywhere!!

"DEVOURMENT has parted ways with drummer Brad Fincher due to his lack of interest in playing death metal. We found a worthy and much more enthusiastic replacement named Eric Park. Eric has played for Louisiana's SUTURE and currently plays for Texas-based bands SCARLINE and does vocals for RHOME. Eric is an extremely energetic and committed musician and is an amazing addition to DEVOURMENT's lineup.

"We chose to announce this news to coincide with the release of 'Autoerotic Asphyxiation' so he can prove his skills and dismiss any doubts about whether he can pull it off. He has done that and then some, and has only been in the band for three weeks. Make him feel welcome."

DEVOURMENT originally split up in 1999 when their then-vocalist Ruben Rosas was arrested as a fugitive from justice at the Colorado Death Fest. Now they have reformed with most of their original lineup intact, including vocalist Ruben Rosas, who spent two and a half years locked up after the Colorado Festival. The band's current line up is Majewski, Park, Wayne Knupp (the group's original vocalist, who is back after leaving the band in 1998), and Ruben Rosas, who is now handling guitars and some vocals.

Au fait, ce message consistait à déclarer à l'auditeur potentiel qu'un nouveau titre de Devourment, extrait de l'album à venir, et en téléchargement sur le site officiel et s'appelle "Autoerotic Asphyxiation".

Et après l'avoir écouté, je dirais :
- c'est beaucoup moins gru gru qu'auparavant, et plus death old school
- mais ça tue toujours autant

Je viens d'écouter le titre car je ne connaissais pas le groupe et bien comment dire ... putain Krabi je comprends pas comment tu peux nous sortir ce groupe à toute les sauces. C'est totalement inaudible, la prod est sourde et le chanteur il chante pas il vomit. Il fait de yaourt non ? Pourtant j'adore le death et le black mais là je peux pas. Sorry Krabi.

PS : attention je ne dis pas que le groupe est nul, les musiciens jouent bien mais c'est pas mon truc. Pour la peine je vais écouter Behemoth.

Ben alors j'ose même pas imaginer le reste. De toute façon je n'ai jamais été fan de brutal death.

En effet, c'est plus audible qu'avant, je suis déçu là Devourment bande de vendus !!!
Mais bon, ça reste quand même du gros barouf bien répétitif, avec un bruit de débouche-WC inimitable à la fin Le nouveau batteur a l'air pas mauvais par contre, même si sa caisse claire fait bien casserole

Chiche que c'est Lars Ulrich qui a passé son ingé son

A noter que Devourment est l'un des rares groupes de brutal death à jouer sans artifices. La batterie n'est pas triggée, la voix n'est pas pitchshiftée, rien. C'est jouer tel quel, sans trucages sur la voix ou autres.
Et en effet, la voix de débouche-évier vers les 2 minutes 54 du morceau est assez impressionnante (mais comment qu'il fait ?

Pour la prod, en effet, elle est très mauvaise, mais c'est le son TXDM qui veut ça

La plupart des batteurs de death triggent pas leur batterie! Ha oui c'est pas parce qu'ils ont un super son que c'est triggé après sur ma batterie pourrie j'peux avoir un super son tout est mixage (déjà avec un micro moyen j'ai réussi à avoir un son très bon pour une démo)

Sinon, pour infos, une news sur ce nouveau titre de DEVOURMENT a été ajoutée sur VS et le gars dit bien "groupe cultissime".

C'est de la musique multi fonction, ça fait aussi désherbant, vermifuge, débouche chiotte, décalamineur de cage à miel, insecticide .....
