METAL CHURCH have issued the following statement:

"Due to health complications from years of struggling with diabetes, Kirk Arrington has stepped down as METAL CHURCH's drummer. He will be missed and we wish him only the best.

"We are pleased to announce that filling Kirk's shoes is the 'one and only' Mr. Jeff Plate (SAVATAGE, CHRIS CAFFERY, TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA).

"We are very honored to have a musician of Jeff's caliber working with us and we know that he will do a fantastic job in METAL CHURCH."

METAL CHURCH are currently working on the follow-up to 2004's "The Weight of the World", tentatively due later in the year via SPV Records. The band's current lineup is completed by guitarists Kurdt Vanderhoof and Jay Reynolds (ex-MALICE), vocalist Ronny Munroe (ex-ROTTWEILLER), and bassist Steve Unger. A short European tour is scheduled for June.

C'était quand même leur batteur originel, avec son propre style. Même situation que Tom Hunting qui a quitté Exodus, ça va laisser un vide...

Vu que le planning de Metal Church n'est pas spécialement chargé, je pense que Jeff Plate pourra cumuler les 2 si Savatage se remettent en activité

J'aimerais bien qu'il soit plus chargé le planning de Metal Church justement. Weight of the World ainsi que tous les albums précécents sont des classiques. Qui se souvient du magistral Hanging in the Balance, que personne n'a acheté à l'époque d'ailleurs.....

C'est vrai que c'est leur batteur originel , le dernier membre du début avec Kurt Vanderhoof; mais justement c'est possible que Metal Church et Vanderhoof en fait c'est lla même chose , comme DAve Mustaine et Metallica... euh pardon Megadeth. Donc à priori pas de souçi pour l'avenir, je suis sûr que le prochain album va pas décevoir, son line up est loin d'être mauvais de toutes façons.

Ben...comme pas mal de monde, mes préférés de leur disco sont Metal Church (un classique) et The Dark.
J'ai bien aimé leur dernier par contre qui est pas mal du tout, et au Graspop de l'an dernier, j'ai vraiment passé un bon moment durant leur set.
Dommage pour le batteur, dorénavant il ne reste que Kurdt Vanderhoof du line up d'origine. Mais bon ça va, les musiciens qui l'entoure sont très bons, et puis il y a l'ancien gratteux de Malice qui l'accompagne, ce n'est pas un inconnu!

Le nouvel album s'intitulera A Light In The Dark, dans les lignées des 2 premiers d'après Vanderhoof. Sortie le 29 mai.

Il renfermera une nouvelle version de "Watch the children Pray" en hommage à David Wayne...

Enfin, ils seront à Pratteln le 2 Juin.

METAL CHURCH are scheduled to release their new album, "A Light In The Dark", in Germany on May 26, 2006, in Europe on May 29 and in the USA early June, reanimating the zeitgeist of their first two releases, "Metal Church" (1984) and "The Dark" (1986). "It's almost twenty years ago that we shook up the international metal scene for the first time with these two recordings," recalls guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. "Just the right moment to bring that era to mind with a brand-new album and the same sort of energy that we had back then." METAL CHURCH are currently at the studio, recording over a dozen new tracks. It remains to be seen how many of these will make it onto the new album. One thing, however, is certain: the album will include a new version of the classic "Watch The Children Pray" as a tribute to vocalist David Wayne, who passed away in May 2005.

Vanderhoof, who doubles as sound engineer and producer during the recordings, promises an offering featuring all the important trademarks of typical METAL CHURCH tracks. "Before our new drummer Jeff Plate joined the band, I would have claimed that the new album will be a traditional heavy metal album through and through. Now I'm not so sure; we may end up experimenting with the odd unusual idea, but we'll stay within the framework defined by the band's history. 'A Light In The Dark' will represent what the name METAL CHURCH has been standing for for the last twenty years."

The current band line-up consists of Kurdt Vanderhoof (guitar), Ronny Munroe (vocals), Jay Reynolds (guitar), Steve Unger (bass) and new addition Jeff Plate (drums). "I've known Jeff since my solo tour with SAVATAGE," Vanderhoof recalls. "And during the 2005 METAL CHURCH tour, when he drummed with opening act Chris Caffery's band, we also got on really well. So it suggested itself to ask him whether he wanted to join METAL CHURCH." The band have been at the studio since January, and Ronny Munroe is currently recording his vocal parts. "A Light In The Dark" is scheduled to be mixed in early March, and METAL CHURCH will tour Europe a week after the release, presenting their new material.

Super news, un nouvel album de Metal Church ça met toujours l'eau à la bouche. Ils n'ont jamais enregistré une seule merde ni même un album moyen depuis leurs débuts, donc je suis très confiant que la barre va encore être élevée.
Weight of the World sorti il y a 2 ans est un excellent album, que j'apprécie de plus en plus avec le temps (en général, c'est plutôt l'inverse).

"Weight of the World" m'avait laissé un peu sur ma faim, pourtant je suis un gros fan de Metal Church. J'sais pas, il y a un feeling que je ne retrouve pas sur cet album...

Mais je compte bien voir ce que ça donne sur le nouveau... en espérant que le changement de batteur ne se ressente pas trop.

vivement l'album. La pochette est vraiment réussie c'est vrai. je suis sûr que l'album sera encore excellent.

Malheureusement aucune date en France comme d'hab.....LA dernière fois que je les ai vu c'etait à Wacken en 99 avec David Wayne (RIP) et leur gratteux John Marshall. Ils avaient vraiment fait un super concert.

Un groupe de ce niveau devrait faire une tournée mondiale commune avec Megadeth par exemple.

Encore un cd à acheter (...et surtout à écouter). J'espère qu'il sera bon par contre a priori je vois pas trop l'intérêt d'une nouvelle version de Watch the children pray.

Ce groupe ! Qu'est-ce que je l'aime ! Mais, bon sang, il a du mal à retrouver une cohérence.

Il manque Kirk Arrington, qui était quand même considéré à la grande époque et par les Zines metal-rock comme un des meilleurs batteurs au monde: dommage que des problèmes de diabète lui ont obligé de quitter le groupe.

Maintenant, les Zicos vont et viennent et des problèmes d'entente musicale et personnel font de ce groupe un véritable casse-tête de Line Up.

Ceci étant, un nouvel album est prévu courant 2008 selon Wikipedia . J'attend avec impatience:

Metal Church will be releasing a new album currently entitled This Present Wasteland sometime 2008 which will be accompanied with a tour.

Guitarist Jay Reynolds has left the band for personal issues and will not be with the band for this album. His replacement is currently unknown.

j'ai ecouté ferrum gravis du groupe allemand viron et tout de suite j'ai pensé à metal church : des riffs heavy,un brin technique et super original,bref du heavy avec le coté melodique du trash !!

et du coup je me suis repassé le "hanging in the balance" !!

la claque qui n'avait pas fait son effet à l'epoque (pas dans l'air du temps et assez deroutant pour les fans je suppose)

quel album !!

jettez une oreille sur viron....

Hanging in the balance !!! Pas exceptionnel ! Pourtant j'avais cassé ma tirelireà l'époque. J'avais acheté l'édition classique avec le bonus track Low to Overdrive et l'import avec 3 titres lives en bonus, et je trouve qu'il ne casse pas des briques !

Et la pochette est AFFREUUUUUUSE !!!

Viron, j'ai le premier album. Autant j'avais beaucoup aimé sur scène, le groupe dépote vraiment, autant l'album est un peu moins bon je trouve. Il y a quelques morceaux très bon, mais aussi un peu de remplissage, c'est dommage.

Enfin ça reste très sympathique. Mais ça ne tue pas autant que Ram ou Ignitor ou...
