C'est le nom de leur prochain album, avec un line-up à peu près stable (j'ai pas vraiment vérifié mais disons que Geoff Thorpe n'a pas viré tout le monde).
San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans VICIOUS RUMORS have entered Trident Studios in Pacheco, California with producers Juan Urteaga and Geoff Thorpe to begin recording their new album, "Electric Punishment", for an April release via Steamhammer/SPV.

Geoff Thorpe, Brian Allen, Larry Howe, Stephen Goodwin and Thean Rasmussen are back with nine new songs and a wicked cover of "Strange Ways" by KISS, all of which are sure to satisfy the faithful VICIOUS RUMORS fans. "Black X List" and "D-Block" are thrashy speed killers while "Escape (From Hell)" and "Together We Unite" add a classic flavor.

"Electric Punishment" will feature special guest appearances by Mark McGee, Brad Gillis and VICIOUS RUMORS' touring guitarist Bob Capka.

San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans VICIOUS RUMORS will release their eleventh studio album, "Electric Punishment", on April 26 in Germany, April 29 in the rest of Europe and May 7 in U.S./Canada via Steamhammer/SPV. It will be available as a jewel case, on double gatefold colored vinyl and as a digital download. The cover artwork was once again created by German artist Christoph Schinzel, who has previously worked with ANVIL, CIRCLE II CIRCLE, RAVEN and AGENT STEEL. The CD was recorded at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California with producers Juan Urteaga and VICIOUS RUMORS guitarist Geoff Thorpe.

Thorpe, Brian Allen, Larry Howe, Stephen Goodwin and Thean Rasmussen are back with nine new songs and a wicked cover of "Strange Ways" by KISS, all of which are sure to satisfy the faithful VICIOUS RUMORS fans.

States Thorpe: "We have permanently grown. There have been no two identical albums in our career because each album has a new, fresh approach. Still, we've never strayed from our course — perhaps precisely for this reason. We've remained faithful to our ideals and have always been honest with our fans. I think our loyal followers value that VICIOUS RUMORS have never jumped on any kind of bandwagon. Everything we do comes from the heart and 'Electric Punishment' documents that no other band on this planet sounds like VICIOUS RUMORS. To us, that's an incentive, a challenge and a quality feature all in one. And it's something our fans can rely on when we set off on our next monster tour in spring 2013."

VICIOUS RUMORS will embark on a club tour in May and will play important festivals in Europe before going on to Japan and the USA.

"Electric Punishment" track listing:

01. I Am The Gun
02. Black X List
03. Electric Punishment
04. D - Block
05. Escape (From Hell)
06. Dime Store Prophet
07. Together We Unite
08. Eternally
09. Thirst For A Kill
10. Strange Ways (KISS cover)

VICIOUS RUMORS released a new live album, "Live You To Death", on November 27, 2012 (one day earlier internationally) through SPV/Steamhammer. The CD was recorded by Pontus Norgren of HAMMERFALL, mixed by Juan Urteaga and produced by VICIOUS RUMORS guitarist Geoff Thorpe.

2011 was the year VICIOUS RUMORS stormed European stages with their highly acclaimed studio album, "Razorback Killers", playing 92 shows in 12 months.

"Live You To Death" was recorded in December 2011 on the band's European tour as the support act for Swedish metallers HAMMERFALL. It features 11 songs, including two very special studio recordings: cover versions of "Sign Of The Southern Cross" by BLACK SABBATH and "Running Wild" by JUDAS PRIEST.

"Razorback Killers" was released in Europe in March 2011 and in the U.S. in April 2011 via SPV/Steamhammer. The CD was recorded at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California with Urteaga and Thorpe.

When San Francisco Bay Area metallers VICIOUS RUMORS returned from a long, strenuous and immensely successful world tour in autumn 2011, the musicians — least of all band mastermind and main songwriter Geoff Thorpe — couldn't really see themselves mustering the energy to release a new studio album in the foreseeable future.

"2011 was a monster year for VICIOUS RUMORS in the most positive sense of the word," Thorpe says, looking back at that time with surprise and some satisfaction. "We were on the road non-stop for more or less eight months, played countless club shows and performed at some of the most important festivals worldwide. The last show of the tour took place as part of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise — what a finale! Then everything was over very suddenly and we started to work on our new album without so much as a break. Perhaps you can imagine how difficult that was and how much concentration we needed to do that kind of work without any loss of friction." Now the doubtlessly successful result of that big challenge is scheduled for release: VICIOUS RUMORS are set to unleash "Electric Punishment" on April 29 in Europe and May 7 in U.S./Canada, sounding more multi-faceted and creative than they have done in a long time.

There definitely is no discernible loss of friction on "Electric Punishment", which is again ruled by what Thorpe refers to as an "impressive double bass thunder, double guitar attacks and haunting vocals the way you only get them with this band." At the same time, the ten new songs are clearly more multi-layered and diverse than the material on its 2011 predecessor, "Razorback Killers".

"While 'Razorback Killers' was heavy all the way through from start to finish, the new material is more in the vein of 'Word Of Mouth'," Thorpe explains. At the same time, the uncompromising toughness that their fans have come to expect of VICIOUS RUMORS is present on "Electric Punishment" as well: the two openers, "I Am The Gun" and "Black X List", are typical as can be of VICIOUS RUMORS. Thorpe refers to those numbers as "classic power metal tracks which would have fitted on every one of our albums. But there's also an unusually atmospheric song called 'Eternally', an anthem to our audience entitled 'Together We Unite' and a deeply black ballad named 'Escape (From Hell)'. I'm sure that our fans will be just as surprised of the whole album as they will be of the final KISS cover, 'Strange Ways'."

Surprised and most likely thrilled, because once again the band has brought all its skills to bear and come up with a real highlight. Thorpe, vocalist Brian Allen, bassist Stephen Goodwin and drummer Larry Howe were supported by guitarist Thean Rasmussen, who returned to the VICIOUS RUMORS fold after "Razorback Killers". In addition, Thorpe & Co. invited a number of former allies to the studio as guest musicians: Brad Gillis features on "D-Block", "Together We Unite" and "Eternally", Marc McGhee on "Escape (From Hell)", and last but not least, tour guitarist Bob Capka helped out at the studio with a number of rhythm guitars and a haunting solo on "D-Block". Thorpe says: "I had a few problems with my fingers; that's why I was glad that Bob was there to help. Otherwise, it probably wouldn't have been possible to stick to our tight production schedule."

So it's done: "Electric Punishment" is VICIOUS RUMORS' eleventh studio album and proves just how much of a force to be reckoned with this band continues to be.

"We have permanently grown, there have been no two identical albums in our career because each album has a new, fresh approach," comments Thorpe, not without pride. "Still we've never strayed from our course — perhaps precisely for this reason. We've remained faithful to our ideals and have always been honest with our fans. I think our loyal followers value that VICIOUS RUMORS have never jumped on any kind of bandwagon. Everything we do comes from the heart, and 'Electric Punishment' documents that no other band on this planet sounds like VICIOUS RUMORS. To us, that's an incentive, a challenge and a quality feature all in one. And it's something our fans can rely on when we set off on our next monster tour in spring 2013."

VICIOUS RUMORS have been scheduled to headline countless clubs and play important festivals (the Headbangers Open Air in Germany and the Alcatraz festival in Belgium having been confirmed already) before going on to Japan and the USA. Thorpe says: "We're facing big challenges again — but that sort of thing has always helped VICIOUS RUMORS to grow!"

VICIOUS RUMORS Vocalist Brian Allen - "It Has Come To My Surprise Via The Internet That I Have Been Replaced, Bypassing Friendship And Common Professional Courtesy"

Hot Flashes

Posted on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 03:21:53 EST

In an age of social media, somehow VICIOUS RUMORS have been able to head out on tour, with a new vocalist, 21 year old Dutchman, Nick Holleman (POWERIZED), without anyone knowing about it... including VR singer Brian Allen. Allen contacted BWBK exclusively regarding the recent news of his departure from the band:

"It has come to my surprise via the internet that I have been replaced by a new vocalist. To call it a shock is an understatement, bypassing friendship and common professional courtesy. As a military veteran, honor, respect, and loyalty are core values that I live by. The fact that I was never even contacted by the band along with ignored text messages since my learning of this news seriously goes against those morals and professional ethics by which I stand by. I have worked very hard to represent the band in the most professional manner, keeping true to the classic material while injecting my own style and abilities with the newer material and the last three albums I've recorded with the band."

Despite recent claims, Allen was part of the Bang Your Head Festival. That show was a tribute to departed original vocalist Carl Albert, which is why Albert's son made an appearance for that show.

Allen continues: "I am a single parent of three beautiful daughters with a career that affords stability and other benefits for my family. Unfortunately, Vicious Rumors has never been truly financially self-sustaining and is more of a cult followed band, which accounts for the lack of stability, coupled with the severe financial hardship that makes it nearly impossible to maintain even remotely an affordable living. I did it for the love and passion of music, but my life also has responsibility, and sometimes certain proposed tour dates can be a conflict. I can't throw away and risk my family dynamic and stability to pacify a non-advised small run of US dates. If we were a full time touring band and it made sense, then that would be a different story, but V.R. isn't that band."

When asked about the US tour dates, Allen offered the following: "It was not feasible for me to do the potential US dates, and I was made aware by the band about a potential fill-in vocalist. I told the band that I could do the proposed South American and European summer tour because I work nine months out of the year, thus allowing me the time for those dates. I thought I was still a named member of the band."

"The newly announced US tour dates was something that several people in our team strongly advised against. A considerable amount of time and money was invested in the band with me as the frontman for videos, three albums, countless promotions, etc. The bands lineup changes are very lengthy, and the value of a lineup lasting several consecutive albums now has been severely compromised. Many fans, peers, and those in the business valued what I brought to Vicous Rumors. The band was getting better tour packages, more respectable festivals, and was building great relations with more promoters. Many felt, including the band, that I injected new life into the band."

"Lastly, I am thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of Vicious Rumors. I would like to thank SPV Records, Red Lion Music, and all respective personnel for their friendship and professionalism, and last but not least the fans for all of their amazing support! This is perhaps a blessing in disguise to move on to new horizons musically, personally and professionally."

:hum:
San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans VICIOUS RUMORS have announced the addition of singer Nick Holleman and bassist Tilen Hudrap to the group's ranks. They also welcome back Bob Capka on guitar.

Nick, a native of Holland, has a powerful melodic voice with great range and tone. A natural talent with a high-octane stage presence and endless sustain. Nick's performance stunned VICIOUS RUMORS fans old and new during the band's last tour in the USA.

Nick was hired on the spot after VICIOUS RUMORS leader Geoff Thorpe saw a video on YouTube. "I just imagined him singing our songs and it works perfectly," Geoff said. "Once we met and the chemistry was right, I realized I found the right guy for the job."

Tilen is a native of Slovenia. After a series of auditions, Tilen was hired last summer to fill in on tour. The band liked his aggressive playing and monster stage presence so much that he was invited to join the band as a full-time member after his first show in July. Tilen already played two world tours with the band (Europe and USA, 50 shows) and appears in the newest video for the title track off the current album "Electric Punishment".

VICIOUS RUMORS welcomes back Bob Capka, who played on the highly acclaimed "Electric Punishment" CD and has been on three tours in Europe and the USA. Bob brings shredding solos and riffs as well as a hunter's killer attitude to the stage show.

Original members guitar player Geoff Thorpe and drummer Larry Howe have also announced that this killer new lineup has already recorded a live album.

After eighty shows on tour in 2013, the new VICIOUS RUMORS lineup has recorded the massive "Live U to Death 2 American Punishment". VICIOUS RUMORS has captured the power and precision with classics that have never been recorded live: "Towns on Fire", "Worlds And Machines", "Master Mind", "World Church", "You Only Live Twice", to name a few. Thirteen tracks in total. The album was recorded during the "American Punishment Tour" in the United States of America in September/October 2013.
