Effectivement l'album est court. les morceaux sont assez directs et, en comptant l'intro et un interlude instrumental au milieu, on doit être tout juste à 40min, à vue de nez.

Un peu plus d'un mois après, je fais tourner l'album en boucle (faut dire qu'il est pas bien long).

Je trouve rien à redire à la doublette "Redemption", "Vindication", je zapperais plus volontiers "Don't Look Back" (voir "In this Light").

Par contre "Spore", "A World Without", "Where Dreams go to Die", "Open Road", j'en suis fan.

Le groupe a récemment tourné un mini-film basé sur quelques chansons du nouvel album.
Pour mémoire ils avaient déjà réalisé un court projet filmé à l'époque d'Operation Mindcrime.

Queensrÿche recently filmed a "mini movie" with the tracks, "Spore," "Midnight Lullaby," "A World Without" and "X2" providing the score to a 10-plus minute story, dubbed "Queensrÿche: Ad Lucem." The film was created by Veva Entertainment Co. with director Daniel Andres Gomez Bagby and producer Marco De Molina and was filmed last month on location at Central City Stages in Los Angeles. The release date of the mini movie was not yet revealed.

Vocalist Todd La Torre, issued the following statement: "We decided to take a different approach with this video, which is comprised of four pieces of music from our latest self-titled release, Queensrÿche. It's a conceptual mini-movie music video that invites the audience to scratch beneath the surface a bit, rather than the usual "chewed food" that so many are used to being fed. We really wanted to deviate from a performance type of video so the music and story-line could be the main focus."

La Torre also adds, "The overall theme of the song Spore is one that deals with personal demons, relationship struggles, career pressures, personal/professional morals and ethical dilemmas. These are issues we all face on some level and the video touches upon them all. Midnight Lullaby/A World Without deals with the loss of a mother during childbirth, leaving a father as a single parent and struggling to move forward through the turmoil. X2, though it opens up our album, provides for a nice outro to it all. The end result is a roller coaster of emotion in an effort to find a healthy resolve. Given our history, we feel that this multifaceted conceptual video, along with a great cast of actors to suit, will really resonate with our fans."

D'après une interview de Scott Rockenfield en Septembre, le litige sur l'utilisation du nom du groupe aurait du être réglé par la justice américaine en Octobre.

Confiant que j'étais sur ce point (cette émanation de Queensrÿche représentatnt 75% des droits), j'y ai cru pour le Hellfest jusqu'à l'annonce désastreuse de la version de Geoff Tate programmée pour le festival (qui aura connu 67 changements de line-up d'ici le mois de Juin).

For the time being, there will continue to be two versions of Queensryche, with former frontman Geoff Tate recently receiving a continuance from the court that will push the court date concerning the band’s name until Jan. 27, 2014.

Tate and his wife Susan, who also was fired by the band from her rôle as their manager, filed suit in 2012 asking the court to grant them the rights to the band name in exchange for the singer paying the remaining members the fair market value for their interest in the band’s companies. The members of the band also filed suit to claim the name.

The case was initially scheduled to take place Nov. 18, but the Tate’s requested the continuance to provide sufficient time for both sides to continue active settlement negotiations without incurring additional court costs. The couple also cited that they have “80 potential witnesses” and adding to the scheduling issues is the fact that Queensryche will be touring this fall, making some of the witnesses more difficult to pin down for depositions.

Meanwhile, the remaining members of Queensryche filed their opposition to the Tate’s motion, but the continuance was granted. In a recent interview with the Oakland Press, drummer Scott Rockenfield stated that negotiations are ongoing with Tate, and he adds, “There’s still time for anything to happen between now and [the start of the trial].” He continued, “I think our confidence is pretty high. There’s still a lot of legal stuff you have to deal with, but we just feel good and look at it as the light at the end of the tunnel and keep playing shows and making music. I think when you do that, the right decision will be made in time.”


Pour résumer, le procès est repoussé au 27 janvier 2014, à la demande de Tate (le camp adverse y étant opposé), celui-ci désirant d'une part négocier avec les autres d'ici là, et d'autres part l'autre Queensrÿche tournant en Europe à l'automne, il aurait été difficile de choper les différentes personnes que Tate souhaite avoir comme témoins pour les faire déposer avant le procès.

Je crois qu'il n'y a dans l'absolu pas trop de surprises sur qui aura le nom (ça m'étonnerait que Tate se fasse des illusions). L'inconnu, qui ne nous concerne pas, restant de savoir combien Tate touchera pour la cession de ses parts dans la société Queensrÿche.

Effectivement je ne vois pas une issue diférente, mais le simple fait que Tate puisse continuer encore jusqu'à fin Janvier à utiliser le nom me paraît complètement aberrant. Et désoriantant pour les fans (Merci pour l'annonce au HellFest, j'ai été content... 24heures)

Le site Classic Rock rapporte que le conflit entre les deux groupes QUEENSRYCHE, issus du renvoi du chanteur Geoff Tate en 2012, et se disputant depuis la propriété du nom et de la marque, devrait bientôt prendre fin. Le jugement qui devait être rendu en novembre dernier, puis repoussé en janvier, devrait pouvoir être évité s’ils parviennent à un accord avant le 10 février.

Selon Classic Rock, Tate et ses anciens collègues ont demandé plus de temps pour travailler, en dehors du tribunal, sur un accord, en prévention d’une action judiciaire de longue durée. Le procès qui devait commencer la semaine prochaine est donc repoussé en attendant que les musiciens parviennent en privé à un accord. Si au 10 février, aucun accord n’est trouvé, ce sera à la Cour Supérieure de King County (Washington) de trancher.

"No, I didn't see that," Geoff replied (hear audio below), before adding, "Well, that's very complimentary. He's quite a gentleman, Rudy. It's a pleasure playing with that guy. He is an amazing individual. Not only is he a fantastic musician and player, but as a person, he's one of the most down-to-earth, spiritual guys you'll ever meet. He's always calm. He's the kind of guy that you can sit and have a couple-of-hour conversation with, easy."

Tate was also asked about the progress of the settlement talks with his former bandmates over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name. "I can't really talk about the court case anymore, 'cause it's kind of coming down to the end of it now," he said. "But whatever the outome of it is, I just hope that it's settled, for everyone, in a good way and everyone's happy and we can all part ways on good terms, and move on. And there's a lot of more music to come out, and I'm looking forward to that."

QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton has confirmed that singer Geoff Tate — who was fired from the Seattle progressive rock band in 2012 after fronting it for three decades — and his former bandmates have reached a settlement in their legal battle over the rights to the group's name.

Speaking to the Allentown Music Examiner, Wilton was asked when fans can expect a resolution of the legal case involving the two versions of QUEENSRŸCHE. "That's coming up," Wilton said. "What I can say is that both sides have reached an amicable settlement and it's now just a matter of time. There will be an official press release, but for now, you'll have to wait."

Wilton also revealed that the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE is continuing work on material for the follow-up to last year's self-titled effort. "We've already begun the process for the next album," he said. "We have probably six songs demoed so far. We're taking it in a direction suited to what we do as QUEENSRŸCHE but maybe a little more progressive and heavier. The thing is, you never know what you really have until it's complete. It's like carving a piece of clay and seeing how it turns out. You peel off the layers until you get to something really cool."

En tout cas, un nouveau Queensrÿche avec Todd commence à prendre forme.

Plus étonnant, en bas de la page se trouve un lien vers le site officiel du groupe officiel avec La Torre avec la mention "Queensrÿche without Geoff Tate".
