After releasing their debut - As Daylight Breaks - around a month ago, German heavy/power metal group Serious Black confirm that they have parted ways with guitarist Roland Grapow, who will from now on concentrate 100% on Masterplan. Despite this departure, the band already found a replacement, and is pleased to welcome Mr. Bob Katsioanis (Firewind), who already played with the band on their recent European tour with HammerFall.
The band commented: "Dear fans and friends of Serious Black. After a great and successful tour with HammerFall and making the charts in Germany, we want to say thanks a lot for your great support of Serious Black. We are really looking forward to the festivals, other shows and upcoming tours, but as is often the case, some bad news follows the good. Roland decided today to leave Serious Black. After this great success, it will be not possible for him to manage two full-time bands at the same time. Roland wants to focus on Masterplan's new DVD and album and for him it's impossible to concentrate on those releases when we are on the road all over the world. There would be no time for any other private life anymore. At this point, we wish our friend Roland good luck and continued success with Masterplan.
"Of course many of you will wonder at this moment how Serious Black will move forward... the people who saw us on the HammerFall tour and Firewind fans will know Bob Katsionis already. Bob will be taking care of Roland's part of the guitar work from now on. So please join us in welcoming Bob officially into the Serious Black family!"

While they are currently recording material for their next full length record, German power metal collective Serious Black confirmed that their vocalist Urban Breed has decided to leave the ranks after 7 years. As you will be able to read in a statement below, the band was quite surprised regarding this decision.
Statement from Serious Black: "Hello fans, friends and partners, first of all we have to say that we are very confused about Urban's statement that he is leaving Serious Black. We were really surprised to hear about his comment via magazines and our crew - there was no conversation before.
"We respect his decision! It is true, that the production of Suite 226 and also the tour showed the differences between how we want this band to be and his view. Anyway, there is no reason for us to fight here with Urban. He is an outstanding great singer and musician and we want to thank him for more than 100 concerts worldwide, great songs and his work on 4 amazing records! We truly wish him all the best for his future!
"AND NOW the GOOD NEWS of the day: First: We had a talk with our label AFM Records recently. We have their full support to finish this record we are working on... we have to thank them a lot for their given trust!
"Second: A good old friend offered us his helping hand to get this album done. At this point many thanks to Bob Katsionis, it's great to have you on our side! One thing we can promise... we will deliver a killer album with great new tracks at its very best, crafted in teamwork! So stay tuned and rock on."
