C'est un nouveau groupe pour les amateurs de metal atmosphérique finlandais :

"Vine", the debut album from THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — is available for streaming in its entirety at the Levykauppa Äx web site. (Note: The stream will only be available until September 28.)

"Vine" was released in Finland on September 22 via Cobra Records and in other territories through Century Media Records. The CD was recorded at Mastervox Studio in Oulu, Finland with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS).

"Out Of The Wind" recently entered the official single chart in the group's home country at position No. 3.

According to the group's official bio, THE MAN-EATING TREE was formed when "Vesa Ranta, having taken a break from music after SENTENCED, began to overcome his post-SENTENCED battle fatigue and lack of musical motivation. The idea of a new band — or bands — was eventually brainstormed over a period of time between Vesa and his friends, including gentlemen Miika Tenkula, Aaron Rantonen, Janne Markus and Mikko Uusimaa. Plans were made reality in 2009; the outfit was completed by the addition of Tuomas Tuominen as a vocalist and Heidi Määttä as a keyboard player. First demo recordings were made in the spring and summer of 2009.

"The bulk of compositions are the origin of Janne Markus, with some contribution also from Aaron Rantonen. Much of the lyrical input is contributed by Tuomas Tuominen. These are the building blocks of the music, which is finally arranged hands-on at the band house by the entire group."

THE MAN-EATING TREE will tour Europe in October and November with their fellow Finns TAROT.

Ces mecs ne prennent plus trop de risque musicalement.
Leurs chansons sont généralement facile, mais diablement bien réussies.
Seul problème : on écoute l'album deux fois et on connait toutes les chansons par coeur.

Nouvel album fin novembre :

THE MAN-EATING TREE — the atmospheric metal band featuring former SENTENCED drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of POISONBLACK, REFLEXION and EMBRAZE — will release its sophomore album, "Harvest", on November 28 via Century Media Records. The CD was once again helmed by producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, SENTENCED, AMORPHIS) and marks the recording debut of guitarist Antti Karhu.

THE MAN-EATING TREE will support AMORPHIS on a European tour which will kick off on December 26 in Jens, Germany. Also scheduled to appear on the bill is LEPROUS.

Commented vocalist Tuomas Tuominen: "Some of you already got the chance to meet [Antti] briefly on our late summer shows. The fine young man was welcomed to our lineup during the spring to play some mean guitar. He brings a style of playing that ranges through the far reaches of our music with ease. Soulful in one moment, packing all the needed punch in the next.

"The new recording and the strengthened lineup are not the only things that have come to a completion during the past few months.

"The album will be released worldwide through Century Media Records, with whom we inked a record deal in the summer.

"Good to work with the Century Media people; the warmth and dedication in their work matches that of ours."

Changements de line-up et nouveau clip :

The Man-Eating Tree just checked in with the following update about working on a new album and parting ways with two members:

"This Fall has been a harsh playground for emotions. As a result, there's always some good things to come out of it, some less. We have started the writing process for new The Man-Eating material. We're currently going through various new interesting ideas and making sure this new stuff will be something from the heart. Making new TMET-songs means full dedication and motivation.

"That being said, we are truly sad to see Antti Karhu (guitar and backing vocals) and Mikko Uusimaa (bass) leave The Man-Eating Tree. Unfortunately, with our plans as a band, it became impossible to match TMET with their personal life commitments elsewhere. Their decision to step aside is something we respect 100% and hope you respect too.

"They both played significant roles along the way and we´d like to thank them for all the good times and their contributions in making The Man-Eating Tree what it is today, We wish only the best for them both.

"Here's the brand new video for the song 'Death Parade.' The video was filmed during the Unioni-tour last Spring with Finntroll and Wolfheart. The song is from the latest The Man-Eating Tree album 'In The Absence Of Light.'"
