British progressive metallers THRESHOLD have issued the following update from keyboardist Richard West via the Forum section of their website (http://www.thresh.net):

“It's been a while since the last Threshold newsletter, as the band have been busy working on other projects over the summer, so there hasn't been much Threshold news to report.

Surface To Stage...

Karl and Rich are hoping to find time soon to mix the live album that Threshold recorded on tour last year. Provisionally entitled Surface To Stage, it will be the first time that the band has released such epic tracks as ‘The Art Of Reason’, ‘Into The Light’ and ‘Echoes Of Life’ in a live format. The album will be sold direct to the fans through the Threshold website http://www.thresh.net in the same way as the Replica album was released in 2004.


ProgPower USA DVD...

The ProgPower USA organisation have released a limited run DVD featuring a documentary of the ProgPower USA V festival. The DVD also includes live footage of many bands who've appeared at the festival, including Threshold's performance of ‘Long Way Home’ in 2002. Fans who bought Threshold's own Critical Energy DVD will have already seen three live tracks from this 2002 performance, and for a while a fifth track 'Falling Away' was also available as a video download.

ProgPower UK 2006...

Threshold's next scheduled live concert is on March 25th next year, when they will perform at the first ever ProgPower UK festival in Cheltenham. Also included on the bill are THERION, ORPHANED LAND, PAGAN’S MIND, SECRET SPHERE, FIREWIND and FREEDOM CALL.

Thin Ice Studios...

Karl has had a busy summer producing bands at Thin Ice Studios in Surrey, England. Among the projects have been new albums for power metal acts POWER QUEST, DRAGONFORCE and INTENSE, live mixes for a DVD by Nick Barratt and Clive Nolan of PENDRAGON, and a new album for British progressive rockers GALAHAD.

FARRAH WEST...

As well as assisting Karl on some of the projects at Thin Ice, Rich has also been busy recording and producing his Farrah West band. Clips of some of the songs are now available to hear on the Farrah West website.

YARGOS...

Mac's latest project Yargos have just signed to AFM Records (home of ANNIHILATOR, DORO, MASTERPLAN among others). Yargos will release their debut album To Be Or Not To Be on November 18th. The album also features Peter Pichl (RUNNING WILD) and Andreas Kienitz (HUMAN FORTRESS), and was co-written by Mac with Yargos members Wieland Hofmeister and Anca Graterol.

KYRBGRINDER...

And finally, if you're in the UK and want to catch a Threshold-related show, Johanne's band Kyrbgrinder are playing a number of gigs around the country in November and December. The band features Johanne on drums and lead vocal duties, with a set that includes his song 'What About Me' which should be familiar to anyone with the limited edition of Threshold's Subsurface CD.

Le live a été enregistré au Z7 de Pratteln Mais il n'est vendu que sur leur site j'ai l'impression.

"Surface to Stage" was recorded at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland during THRESHOLD's "Subsurface" tour in 2004 and it marks the first time that the band have released such epic tracks as "The Art of Reason", "Into The Light" and "Echoes Of Life" in a live format. The album will be sold direct to the fans through the THRESHOLD web site, http://www.thresh.net, in the same way as the "Replica" album was released in 2004.
