Original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno returned to Poland in April to play a string of live shows. One of the shows - at Lizard Club in Kraków on April, 9th - was recorded for the purposes of a live DVD release and today we reveal its title and release date. The Beast Arises DVD has been set for release on October, 6th in Europe and October, 7th in North America (via MVD). Other formats available: CD, digital and 2LP.



The material from the DVD captures a sensational live show in a club full of audience that would not let Di'Anno leave the stage for a long time. The setlist included the best Iron Maiden’s tracks (from the period when Di'Anno was the band’s lead singer), as well as Killers’ and Paul Di'Anno’s solo tracks. The DVD also includes bonus features such as an interview with the Artist, a photo gallery and more. Full details will be revealed soon. You can now see a short preview of the DVD below.

Putain... mais il a encore quelques restes vocalement. Comme avec les chansons de Maiden sur scène c'est très correct et à un moment il se met à faire n'imp' : voix aigue insupportable suivi d'un beuglement de mec bourré du Wacken.
C'est moche et c'est vraiment dommage.

Je suis assez d'accord avec Yacine. j'ai regardé les deux titres ci dessus, et je m'attendais à bien pire vocalement...mais c'est horrible quand même car, Di Anno ne s'applique pas du tout et fait n'importe quoi, comme s'il n'en avait rien à foutre, alors qu'on a l'impression qu'avec un minimum d'application (et d'envie), ça pourrait être correct. Dommage.

Je l'ai vu en live il y a quelques mois et j'ai été un peu déçu, je m'attendais pas à l'entendre chanter avec sa verve d’antan, mais ça faisait plaisir de voir une légende et le voir passablement massacrer des morceaux mythiques, passant d'une voix gutturale ridicule à un chant éraillé pas controllé du tout, c'était frustrant à entendre. Sinon, sacré personnage, j'étais venu voir un one-man show en fin de compte. Curieux d'entendre ce qu'il va sortir avec son nouveau groupe quand même, c'est là qu'on verra ses 'vrais' restes.

C'était assez catastrophique en live l'année dernière, surtout quand il nous sort ses vocaux limite death metal ou qu'il n'arrive pas chanter assez vite certains morceaux et qu'il bredouille une partie des paroles pour revenir dans le rythme. Sans compter ses musiciens qui font pas mal de pain et les discours à la con du Paulo. Bon j'avoue que j'avais quand même un tant soit peu apprécié ce concert parce qu'il y avait une bonne ambiance dans la salle et à cause de la setlist mais sinon ça manque clairement de professionnalisme en live et c'est loin d'être très convaincant.

Il est désormais en fauteuil roulant en attendant son opération du genou, cf ci-dessous au Japon. Voix HS incluse, y'a pas que son genou.



Sinon j'ai trouvé ça issu du DVD de l'an dernier, avec Paulo complètement bourré qui baragouine n'importe quoi et le mec de la vidéo qui s'en amuse avec des sous-titres

Nous vous avions annoncé le week-end dernier l’hospitalisation en urgence de Paul Di’Anno survenue le 12 mai. Sans avoir sur le moment de plus amples informations sur son état de santé jugé « simplement » sérieux. Et c’est par le biais de la page Facebook de son dernier groupe en date, ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ que nous sont arrivés hier des nouvelles bien peu rassurantes.

Le communiqué fait état de taches apparentes au niveau de sa poitrine et ses poumons et un problème au niveau des glandes lymphatiques mais également le fait que ces jambes sont complètement rongées par l’arthrite.


Il est aussi indiqué qu’il reste jusqu’à nouvel ordre dans cet hôpital afin de compléter le diagnostic et que des nouvelles seront données en temps et en heure.

Chanteur d'IRON MAIDEN sur ses deux premiers albums (« Iron Maiden » et « Killers » ainsi que sur le mini-live « Maiden Japan »), il est à jamais associé à l’émergence de ce groupe-phare du metal mondial. Nous lui souhaitons un prompt rétablissement et vous tiendrons informés de l’évolution de son état lorsque des nouvelles nous parviendront.

Il lui reste un seul concert à donner avant de se retirer définitivement, sur conseils de ses médecins, après ses multiples opérations et avoir frôlé la mort suite à une septicémie.
Ce concert fin août a été reporté j'imagine...

Ensuite ce sera terminé, du moins sur scène, j'imagine qu'il pourra encore continuer en studio.

IDES OF MARCH, fronted by Paul Di'Anno and including four former IRON MAIDEN members, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of IRON MAIDEN's debut album in a headline Beermageddon festival performance in Bromsgrove, England on Sunday, August 30.

IDES OF MARCH has been specially formed for this totally unique occasion and this will be a one-off and never-to-be-repeated performance. The band lineup is:

Paul Di'Anno (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Vocals
Terry Wapram (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Guitar
Terry Rance (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Guitar
Doug Sampson (ex-IRON MAIDEN) - Drums

This is being billed in a press release as Di'Anno's "final ever" live performance. After experiencing serious health difficulties in recent months, Paul has now apparently taken the advice of his doctors and will retire from the live stage in 2020 after the IDES OF MARCH performance at Beermageddon. It is going to take one mighty effort for Paul to pull off this performance but he is determined to go out in style and give his fans one memorable final thank you and goodbye.

Paul said: "It's been a tough four years waiting to play again. I hope to be standing for this show and I'm really looking forward to it. Standing up would be great. If not, Hell on wheels coming to ya!"

The IDES OF MARCH setlist for Beermageddon will include plenty of surprises with some songs being played live for the first time in literally decades. Stand by for further announcements during the run-up to August.

Beermageddon tickets are available at www.beermageddon.co.uk. A weekend ticket includes free camping, free parking and hot showers with no fees whatsoever. Beermageddon has sold out for the last eight years so make sure you don't miss out.

Wapram said: "Really looking forward to working with these guys. Our paths have crossed many times but we never played together. Should be a killer lineup and a very special night."

A forthcoming biographical documentary movie on Paul's life is currently in the making and the producers will be filming the Beermageddon performance. The movie is being created and directed by Wes Orshoski, the creator of "Lemmy - The Movie", and more details about the movie will be released during 2020.

Jim Beerman, festival organizer, added: "Beermageddon has always been about creating magical moments, and as an old-school metalhead, I can think of nothing better than closing this years festival with IDES OF MARCH, musicians who have played such a pivotal rôle in the history of metal, playing songs from arguably one of the greatest debut albums ever released, plus so much more. It doesn't get any more magical than that."

Il vient de rencontrer Steve Harris pour la première fois depuis 30 ans, dans le cadre de la tournée de Maiden. Apparemment Paulo a changé d'état d'esprit ces derniers temps puisque désormais il couvre d'éloges Maiden. Les deux ont même repris contact après le concert.

Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno came face to face with the band's bassist Steve Harris for the first time in three decades last Sunday night (May 22) before MAIDEN's concert in Croatia.

Harris, whose group kicked off the 2022 leg of its "Legacy Of The Beast" world tour at the 22,000-capacity Arena Zagreb, came out before the show to greet a wheelchair-bound Di'Anno and chat with him for a few minutes. Paul has spent the last few months in Croatia receiving physiotherapy and lymphatic drainage treatments in preparation for his upcoming knee surgery.

After his friendly meeting with Harris, Di'Anno stuck around long enough to watch some of MAIDEN's performance before leaving near the end of the set to avoid a huge traffic jam after the show.

Di'Anno spoke about his experience meeting Harris in person after all these years in a live video chat with Canada's The Metal Voice earlier today (Saturday, May 28). He said: "Last weekend was absolutely amazing. 'Cause me and Steve [have exchanged messages] about football [in the past]. But we actually hadn't met [face to face] for a long time. And it was brilliant, because I met up with Steve's sister Linda first, whom I hadn't seen her in about 30 years. And then [seeing] Steve was amazing, and then [meeting up with MAIDEN's longtime manager] Rod [Smallwood] as well, it's made my whole year, actually. It was fantastic. It was pretty awesome."

Paul went on to say that the last time he saw Rod was in 2013 when both he and MAIDEN performed — separately — at Brazil's Rock In Rio festival.

"I missed the MAIDEN show because I got swamped by bloody press and stuff, so I couldn't actually do anything to watch the band," he explained.

Asked if it was "awkward" meeting up with Steve for the first time in 30 years, Paul said: "No. It was great. I wish I wasn't in this sort of position [being in a wheelchair]. Yeah, it was quite emotional. If it had been the first time we spoke together in 30 years, it would have been maybe a little bit more weird. But, as I said, we talk about football and stuff like that, and Steve phoned me up a couple of times from [his home in] the Bahamas."

Calling himself and Harris two "happy-go-lucky geezers" from London's East End, Paul went on to say that he owes Steve dinner "big time, because he looked after my missus and son over in the States on the last MAIDEN tour in Connecticut, in Hartford. He really looked after them — gave them backstage VIP stuff and all of that. It was great. So when I get my legs back, I'll take him out to dinner."

According to Paul, Steve called him the day after the MAIDEN show in Croatia but he missed his call. "But I did text him back," Di'Anno said.

Paul also set the record straight about where he stands with respect to his former band, saying: "What annoys me is that everyone's spreading rumors around that we don't like each other and stuff like that. I ain't got nothing [against] IRON MAIDEN at all. I tell you, the show was brilliant on Sunday — absolutely amazing."

Former Iron Maiden vocalist and frontman, Paul Di’Anno, has released a new version of the Iron Maiden classic, "Wrathchild", featured on the upcoming new album, The Book Of The Beast, available via Conquest Music on September 27.

Paul is joined by former Dragonforce vocalist, ZP Theart, to perform a duet on this amazing version of the Maiden classic. Watch a lyric video below:

The Book Of The Beast vinyl double album (available in Blood Red, Virgin White and Cold Steel coloured vinyl) and 2-disc CD/DVD include five previously unreleased tracks, along with a carefully curated collection of songs that distills many of the best moments from Di’Anno’s fascinating and formidable career. The CD/DVD also includes rare live, promotional, and acoustic video footage.

Deep cuts from albums going back to Paul’s Battlezone, Killers and solo days have been painstakingly remastered to give them a more up to date and polished production plus some of Paul’s rare acoustic, rehearsal and demo recordings have been added as a special bonus.

Perhaps the most interesting addition to this album is the unexpected reworking of two Iron Maiden classics, but with a dark twist. Both "Remember Tomorrow" and "Wrathchild" have been treated to a facelift with Paul duetting alongside Tony Martin (Black Sabbath), ZP Theart (Dragonforce) and Lidya Balaban (Crowley).

“I suppose it might sound like an unusual combination, but Lidya has got a brilliant voice,” Paul enthuses. “I’ve been trying to get it together to see Crowley, but it hasn’t happened yet.”

“I’d be very interested in working on something special with Tony and ZP in the future,” Paul adds.

The vinyl albums feature Paul duetting with Lydia Balaban while the The ZP Theart & Tony Martin duets are on CD/DVD and also digital.

With an exhaustive CV that includes Battlezone, Killers, Di’Anno (the band), Praying Mantis, The Almighty Inbredz, Warhorse and the metal supergroup Gogmagog, Paul Di’Anno is one of the most colourful and controversial characters in hard rock and heavy metal. But of course, Paul is best known for having been a member of Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981, appearing on their two iconic albums Iron Maiden and Killers, his voice bringing the band far more of a raw, punky edge than was present on subsequent records.

For that reason, Maiden’s first two albums still inspire strong reactions. Though the band became bigger than ever after his exit, there are fans that stopped liking them when Paul exited the picture. In later years, Di’Anno met members of Metallica, Pantera and Sepultura who all respectfully told him how much those first two LPs had influenced them.

“That’s always bloody brilliant to hear,” he enthuses. “It’s nice to know that you are worth something in the grand scheme of things.

Metalville Records will release "In Memory Of" from Paul Di'Anno on May 16.

On May 17 this year, the frontman of the groundbreaking first two IRON MAIDEN albums would have celebrated his 67th birthday. Unfortunately, we received the bitter news last October that the charismatic singer had passed away unexpectedly at his home in Salisbury.

"In Memory Of" is a selection of the best songs that Paul recorded during his time at Metalville Records. In addition, "In Memory Of" contains two bonus tracks that have never been released in physical form before. "Je Suis Charlie" is a track from Paul's ARCHITECTS OF CHAOZ phase, which was only released digitally at the time. "Killers" is a live version from the Wacken Open Air 2015.

The previously unpublished photos contained in the booklet and the liner notes written exclusively for the album by internationally recognized MAIDEN biographer Matthias Mader are a special added value for fans.

Di'Anno was always a person who, despite his own health problems, was concerned about the well-being of others and took a corresponding interest in their fate. To honor this in the spirit of the unforgotten artist, part of the proceeds from the sale of every CD and LP of "In Memory Of" will go to the charitable organization Metality e.V.

Finalement j'y ai trouvé un tout petit intérêt, une reprise que je n'aurais pas imaginée de sa part, et même si n'est pas David Coverdale qui veut il s'en sort quand même bien le Paulo.
