Edsel Records (through Demon) will release a selection of seven GILLAN and IAN GILLAN BAND albums in March and April. These will comprise of five chart albums, which were originally released between 1979 and 1982, including "Glory Road", which debuted at No. 3 and "Future Shock" at No. 2 on the U.K. chart. Together the seven albums feature eight chart singles.

The first batch of GILLAN releases hit outlets on April 2 and include "Mr Universe" (1979), "Glory Road" (1980), "Future Shock" (1981) and "Double Trouble" (1981). These will be followed on May 7 with Ian's first solo album "Child In Time" (IAN GILLAN BAND, 1976), "Live At The Budokan" (IAN GILLAN BAND, 1977) and "Magic" (GILLAN, 1982). All seven albums have been digitally re-mastered by Ray Staff ("Bohemian Rhapsody", "Physical Graffiti", CORRINE BAILEY RAE, DEEP PURPLE) and will feature bonus tracks including live recordings, and B-sides as well as album outtakes. The deluxe packaging will contain photos, lyrics, memorabilia and some wry observations of the times by Ian Gillan himself.

Gillan says: "It's about bloody time!"

These albums feature some of Ian's cohorts, including Janick Gers, Bernie Tormé, John McCoy, Colin Towns and Mick Underwood, as well as the GILLAN classics "Sleeping On The Job", "No Easy Way", "Trouble", "Mutually Assured Destruction", "New Orleans", "No Laughing In Heaven", "Nightmare", "Restless" and "Living For The City". There are also fabulous live versions of DEEP PURPLE classics, including "Child In Time", "Smoke On The Water" and "Woman From Tokyo".

Ian Gillan is rock royalty, and has become an erudite elder statesman of the genre. He was the original Jesus Christ Superstar and — with DEEP PURPLE — he co-wrote and sang "Smoke on the Water" (one of the most popular songs of all time) among dozens of other hits. He's always made music for music's sake, not to appease critics, the industry or anyone else; to quote the man. "It's important to step off the highway sometimes and take the scenic route." He has played to tens of millions of fans, and sold over one hundred million records. To this day he approaches writing, recording and touring with the zeal, passion and commitment of an 18-year-old.

Metal Mind Productions has announced the exclusive re-releases of the selected albums from DEEP PURPLE singer IAN GILLAN’s discography: Naked Thunder, Toolbox, Cherkazoo & Other Stories, Clear Air Turbulance (IAN GILLAN BAND), Scarabus (Ian Gillan Band) and Accidentally On Purpose (GILLAN/GLOVER).

"The Voice Of Deep Purple: The Gillan Years" from Ian Gillan will be released on November 17 on 3CD digipack through Store For Music.

As DEEP PURPLE undertakes its "final" live dates around the globe on "The Long Goodbye" tour, we celebrate the "Gillan years." This set contains three albums taken from across this legendary performer's incredible and hugely varied career: "Naked Thunder" (1990), "Scarabus" (1977) and "Accidentally On Purpose" (1988).

As well as each album in full, the set includes five bonus tracks: "Smoke On The Water", "Black Night" and "Restless" from GILLAN; "Child In Time", "Woman From Tokyo" from IAN GILLAN BAND, plus an interview with Ian Gillan in Tokyo, during the GILLAN Japanese tour.

Gillan is best known of course as the lead singer and lyricist for the truly legendary DEEP PURPLE but his musical career takes in other avenues too. Upon leaving PURPLE in 1973, Gillan subsequently formed THE IAN GILLAN BAND (around late 1975/early '76) and the band simply called GILLAN in 1978. After a spell fronting BLACK SABBATH, Gillan rejoined a reunited DEEP PURPLE IN 1984. He left the band briefly in 1989 but rejoined a couple of years later and he performs with them still today across the world.

Deep Purple frontman, Ian Gillan, has announced the February 14 release of the 7CD boxset, Gillan: 1978 - 1982. The set includes studio recordings, a live album and a wealth of B-sides and bonus material.

Limited editions, including a print signed by Ian, are available while stocks last. Pre-order here, and watch a video message from Gillan below.

The new Gillan 7CD box set offers a comprehensive collection of the band's work during the years from 1978 to 1982, when they rose to prominence in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) scene.

The set includes seven albums from this era, featuring studio recordings, a live album, and a wealth of B-sides and bonus material. The albums featured in this set are as follows: Gillan (The Japanese Album) – Originally released in September 1978, this was the debut of the band formed by Ian Gillan after leaving the Ian Gillan Band. It marked a shift away from jazz fusion to a heavier rock sound. Mr. Universe – Released in 1979, this was a key album that solidified their success, featuring a mix of hard rock and NWOBHM influences. Glory Road – A 1980 release, this album is considered the height of the band’s success, both commercially and musically. Future Shock – Released in 1981, this album continued the band’s momentum, but guitarist Bernie Tormé left shortly afterward. Double Trouble – A double album from 1981 that combined studio tracks and live performances and marked Janick Gers' debut as guitarist. Magic – Released in 1982, this was the band's final studio album before they disbanded after their last performance at Wembley Arena in December 1982. Live From Reading '80 – A live album capturing the band’s powerful live performances at the Reading Festival in 1980.

The collection includes a new interview with Ian Gillan conducted by Rich Davenport, providing deeper insights into the band's history and the albums. The audio has been remastered from the original tapes where possible, ensuring high-quality sound. The packaging is designed in a 7” x 7” format, with 32-page booklet, offering a unique visual presentation for collectors. This set is a valuable offering for fans of Gillan and collectors of rock history, especially from the era of NWOBHM, showcasing the evolution of a band led by one of rock’s iconic vocalists.
