Sorties en parallèle : un documentaire officiel pour leurs 4 décennies, ainsi que l'autobiographie de Mille (en allemand seulement pour l'instant).
Kreator – Hate & Hope, the official documentary about German thrash metal band Kreator will premiere at the 42nd annual Munich International Film Festival on July 2, with subsequent screenings on July 4 and July 6.

The official description of the 110-minute film, directed by Cordula Kablitz-Post, reads as follows: “Kreator’s fans see them as gods. Yet the band’s music seems possessed by the devil — as it’s unusually aggressive, frenetic, and uncompromising. This film is the first to portray the 40-year history of this celebrated heavy metal band, from its formation by Ruhr Valley schoolkids in 1982 to its current world tour. Then as now, they stand against the hatred and the abysses of our society. Shrill tonnes, virtuosic guitar riffs, and energetic drumbeats process the turmoil in our civilization with tremendous willpower and creativity. Between Hannah Arendt quotes and headless corpses, emerges a well-crafted poetry of chaos full of symbols of horror – a musical Molotov cocktail against evil with a cathartic effect.”

According to MagnetFilm, director Cordula Kablitz-Post goes on tour with the legendary thrash metal band for a year: Wacken Open Air, Tokyo, Osaka, Bangalore, Los Angeles and finally “Klash of the Ruhrpott” in Gelsenkirchen, where Germany’s metal greats gather. With private archive recordings and exciting interviews from Scott Ian (Anthrax), Chuck Billy (Testament), Bela B. (Die Ärzte), Phil Demmel (Machine Head), Maik Weichert (Heaven Shall Burn), Nergal (Behemoth), Lars Eidinger and Andy Sneap, they embark on a very honest and humorous journey into the wildly beating heart of German music history.

In other news, the German-language edition of Kreator frontman Mille Petrozza’s official autobiography, Your Heaven, My Hell – Mein Leben, Heavy Metal Und Wie Das Alles Passieren Konnte (Your Heaven, My Hell – How Heavy Metal Saved Me), which he co-wrote with Torsten Groß, will be published on August 28 via Ullstein Extra. The 256-page hardcover book is available for pre-order now at this location.

The official book summary reads as follows: “Ruhr area, in the seventies: Mille Petrozza grew up as the son of a drudgery family in the Altenessen district of Essen. His mother was a GDR refugee, his father a guest worker from Calabria, he worked underground. In the multicultural melting pot of the Pott, the subcultures of the time encounter structural change: the death of mines, violence, alcoholism, Pattex snooping. Heavy metal just crashes into it: After a Kiss concert, Mille becomes part of an internationally networked grassroots movement. Through heavy metal he emancipates himself from the boozing youth gangs. The first guitar gives him superpowers: With his band Kreator, Mille unexpectedly becomes an international thrash metal star. In his autobiography, Mille Petrozza tells for the first time the incredible story of his early years, how his mother signed his first record deal and then turned a heavy metal clique in the Ruhr area into one of the most important and longest-lived international thrash metal bands ever.”
