FERETRO: News and distribution of the new CD!

The propagation of the new Feretro CD works well, there are currently 73 copies circulating or on the point of being sent… Join us and get your fix of death metal/ thrashing death the old way!
Some labels like Nuclear winter, FDA or Chaos & hell will receive copies quite soon, probably at the end of the coming week.

The band in Chile also received the package with the CDs, so the Chilean bastards should contact them if they want a copy.

You can still get a copy of the CD for a reasonable price, and get your dose of old school death/ thrashing death! If you order today, the package will likely be sent tomorrow. Check out my Webshop or bandcamp.

Hello,
Here are the last news of the FERETRO full-lenght:

A new interview of FERETRO was published on LELAHEL Metal webzine:
https://www.lelahelmetal.net/2025/10/in ... retro.html

New reviews were posted on NECROZINE webzine, GUTS OF DARKNESS webzine, THE HORROR DIMENSION webzine, METAL RULEZ.PL webzine, BRUTALISM webzine, CANADIAN ASSAULT webzine and WINTER TORMENT Blog… Check it out!

NECROZINE Webzine:
Chile’s FERETRO might have taken their time to reach a full-length, but when something brews underground for two decades, it either dies or mutates into something truly rotten.
In their case, it’s the latter. “The Mortuary Destiny of Flesh” sounds like a tomb cracking open after twenty years – raw, heavy, and filled with the kind of death metal spirit that refuses to evolve just for the sake of modernity.
This is pure old-school death metal, forged in the spirit of the late ’80s and early ’90s – unpretentious, direct, and heavy as a morgue door. The album doesn’t try to reinvent anything, and that’s exactly its strength. FERETRO know what they want to play, and they do it without hesitation. Fast, mid-tempo, or crawling — every riff feels like it’s been written with bones, not fingers.
From the opener, The Ancient Horror, it’s clear where the band draws its venom. You can hear echoes of early DEATH, the doom-heavy drag of ASPHYX, and that distinct South American filth that makes everything sound more unhinged. The guitars slice between tremolo-picked aggression and slow, suffocating riffs, while the solos are melodic in that bleak, old-school way – more like cries from the coffin than technical showcases.
Tracks like In Agony and Time to Die carry that balance perfectly: thrashy tremolo lines crashing into cavernous doom parts, drums that pound with mechanical precision but never lose that human pulse, and vocals that sound like they’re coming from a throat lined with dust and grave soil. There’s something satisfying in how natural it all feels – no triggered perfection, no sterile polish, just pure, decaying sound.
Production-wise, “The Mortuary Destiny of Flesh” keeps things deliberately rough around the edges. Everything bleeds together slightly, but that murk is part of the charm. It feels like it could’ve been recorded in a candlelit basement in 1992, and that authenticity can’t be faked.
Closer Epitaph adds an unexpected layer of atmosphere, hinting at something more melodic beneath all the rot. It’s not gothic, not clean – just haunting enough to show that FERETRO still have a few tricks left in the grave.
“The Mortuary Destiny of Flesh” is for those who grew up with tapes that hissed, riffs that suffocated, and bands that didn’t give a damn about trends. FERETRO belong to that lineage – one that’s too stubborn to die and too old to care about anything but death itself. Get your copy via Nihilistic Holocaust Recs here.

GUTS OF DARKNESS Webzine :
Duabiht

THE HORROR DIMENSION Webzine :

METAL RULEZ.PL Webzine:
To death metal — klasyczny, posępny, duszny.
Brzmienie?
Tani efekt? Może. Ale działa. W tym klimacie wszystko takie być powinno.
Czy The Mortuary Destiny of Flesh to płyta, którą będę wspominać za rok?

WINTER TORMENT Blog:
Feretro is a band that performs a great style of old school death metal and this is a review of the bands debut full length. After releasing quite a few demo's and EP's the band finally unleashes the debut The Mortuary Destiny Of Flesh. The debut consists of eight tracks of solid death metal that is defintly rooted in the 80's and 90's.The guitars are played with a mix of fast and furious patterns and some mid paced guitar parts. The guitarist does write some catchy and memorable passages even adding in some well delievered solo's throughout the songs. The drums are done with some fast drum passages that are played with skillful drumming ability. The drummer does perform some heavy mid paced drum parts as well as the more faster style for a nice mix.The vocals are old school gruff growls and some gruff screams are also used. For those who are love and worship old school death metal defintly check out Chile's Feretro today.

BRUTALISM Webzine:
Feretro finally have unleashed their debut album upon the world. A ghoulish kick in the teeth of Death Metal mixed with Thrash from Chile, the band mixes with the sounds of Slayer, Pestilence, and Incantation for thick Old School Death Metal with some Doom touches, but mostly just thrashing Death Metal. Signed to Nihilistic Holocaust, the album is full of 9 tracks that have some atmosphere, strong riffs, guttural lows, and energetic solos to keep listeners entertained. After a short 80s nightmarish horror sounding intro with guitar and keyboards, courtesy of Mauricio, things kick off with ‘Towards Perishment’ in fast, almost Slayer fashion. The riffs between Mauricio and vocalist Pedro whose thick growl is a little buried by the riffs and bass from Rodrigo, but still somewhat understandable and enjoyable as they pierce the dark. What Feretro really specialize in are their solos which are slow, melodic, dark, and yet remorseless. Grim and definitely Incantation sounding, they add the odious atmosphere to the music created. Of course, this is only short lived as drummer Felipe kicks things again in high gear with his thick ‘door knocking’ sounding style.
Things shift away from the Slayer elements a bit quickly though as the album progresses. ‘The Ancient Horror’ has faster riffs but more blastbeats and more of that Pestilence sound amongst the slower lumbering Incantation bits. It isn’t as energetic but shows more vocal range as Pedro adds in snarls and shrieks and less of his usual growl. It sounds more effective when the music is slower though, and Feretro does feature a lot of slow moments, almost more than their faster ones such as the axe dragging pace of ‘In Agony.’ With the slower pace though does come a bit of repetition of the riffs, and a trade for darker, more Doom laden tonnes as opposed to the frantic Thrash driven sound of the earlier tracks. This can also be heard in ‘The Hour of Death’ which comes off more as just a long instrumental with lengthy, drawn out riffs and some vocals right at the end, but they are more for noise effect than anything else and serves as a break from the Death Metal side of things, even though the style is indeed still Death Metal just done Incantation style.
After the middle of the album though it feels like though Feretro tends to stick to a bit of a one trick pony. Relying mostly on the Incantation/ Paradise Lost style pace, the music just seems to lumber without the life and energy it started out with. ‘Time to Die’ has some good riffs but the pacing and energy just doesn’t seem to have the mosh energy, the standing still and headbanging. ‘’Death’s Cycle’ is a track right of a Incantation’s playbook for being lengthy, dramatic, and chilling with the pace and while it does feature some fast parts up until the half of the track, falls back into typical habit with lengthy, suffocating growls and morose guitar wailing that is effective for atmosphere, but doesn’t really get listeners really into until the drums kick into overdrive. Thankfully, ‘Flesh for Worms’ is more energetic, frantic, and has some more riff energy that makes listeners not just focus on the drums, guitar solos, and vocals. The drums also are a bit more lively with that frantic ‘knock’ sound again and not just a heavy, lumbering snooze fest like a zombie trying to get in. True, Feretro try to make atmosphere as much a part of their music as the riffs, but they rely on the slowness to much and don’t add as much of the ‘horror movie aspects’ to really get the sound right when their influences definitely delivered faster music to get aggressive to, though the closing keyboards on ‘Epitaph’ were an excellent choice when it came to capturing the moment of horror.
Overall, “The Mortuary Destiny Of Flesh” is a mixed bag that does need work, but has promise. The mix of Thrash, Death Metal, and Doom a little imbalanced, but delivers an Old School Death Metal record that is steeped in the right amounts of horror lore, guitar ‘distortion,’ and a variation of fast and slow moments to keep listeners entertained without feeling bored with the song structures or themes, especially when it comes to the longer tracks due to the average Metal song being about four minutes. The album does lean more on the slow than fast side, but listeners can still headbang to it without feeling like it will tire them anytime soon.

CANADIAN ASSAULT Webzine
This band from Chile feels like an old souls band. They play straight forward, alternating fast to mostly middle paced and highly emotive deathrash metal. This heavy chugging music has a cool gloomy atmosphere to it. The vocals from Pedro Veloso are such great traditional (Chris Reifert style) growls that I find extremely infectious to listen to. This music for me is timeless and it should turn on fans of the early works of bands like Pestilence, Morgoth, Asphyx, Disciples Of Power, Autopsy, Cancer etc… - Dale
