http://www.flickr.com/photos/lindaaversa You may recall the speed/thrash/crossover metal band known as Carnivore — you know, the one that had Peter Steele in it before he went off to do Type O Negative. Over the years, Carnivore got back together on and off, but ever since 2017, it’s been operating under the new name Carnivore A.D.
Now, for the first time ever under this new moniker, the band is releasing new music in the form of a new EP dubbed Transmutation. Dedicated with “love and honor to the memories of Peter Steele and Keith Alexander,” the EP seeks to keep the same insane energy that Carnivore displayed all those years ago. To help you decide if they kept it up, they released the first single from said forthcoming EP, “Social Decomposition.”
Comprised of New York City hardcore and metal stalwarts Baron Misuraca (vocals & bass – ex-SHEER TERROR), Chuck Lenihan (guitar – ex-CRUMBSUCKERS), and Joe Cangelosi (drums – ex-KREATOR, WHIPLASH, MASSACRE), the new track in question fucking rips. It’s zero to 100 in no time at all and at just over two minutes, it’s a quick slap in the face of nasty speed/thrash/death metal brutality.
Though it’s not the same band as Carnivore once was, Carnivore A.D. was given the blessing by original founding drummer Louie Beateaux, who had the following to say about the band:
“Think of Carnivore AD as a renowned dining establishment where it’s Chef passed on years ago but the recipes remain and folks still want to dine there instead of cooking the food themselves. And Chef Pete wouldn’t mind because his friends are making it with love.”
