Oui ça représente assez ça, même si le son des grattes me paraît tout de même un brin plus heavy sur Poets.


@ Weik : en live il partage le chant avec Damond Jinya, mais (d'après mes souvenirs, ça fait longtemps que je ne l'ai plus écouté), Jon est seul au chant sur l'album. Corrigez moi si je me trompe!

Jon Oliva est bien le seul chanteur sur l'album.
Diamond n'a jamais enregistré quoi que ce soit avec le groupe.
Savatage n'a connu que 2 chanteurs en son sein Jon Oliva et Zakk Stevens (parti apres Wake....)

Tu n'as pas l'album mais tu nous sort que Oliva n'est pas le seul à chanter dessus ?

Bon en effet il n'y a que Jon qui chante dessus, un vrai regal !
L'album est tres bon à mon sens, même s'il comporte des faiblesses...
C'est vraiment dommage que le groupe ne l'ait pas soutenu plus que ca ! Ils chantaient deux titres généralement en live ("Commissar" en intro et "Surrender")...On a eu la chance d'avoir "Morphine Child" au Wacken (et sur quelques autres dates), mais c'est pas assez, y avait du potentiel en live avec d'autres titres... Et puis "Back to a reason" quoi...
Perso je le préfère à "WOM" et dans l'ensemble à "DWD".

Zack est parti à l'epoque car il voulait profiter de sa famille.

Et si Savatage est en stand by, c'est que le groupe n'a jamais vraiment eu le succès qu'il meritait, donc par conséquence ca ne remplit pas les ventres tous les jours. Alors que TSO blinde de grandes salles généralement aux USA. Jon l'a toujours dit: Savatage c'est sa vie mais il ne fait pas de fric dessus, alors que TSO paye les factures et plus.

Du fait du laps de temps entre les albums de plus en plus grand, chaque zicos vaque à ses projets.

C'est un des groupes qui n'a pas eu le succès prévu, qui restera cher dans le coeur de ses fans fidèles, mais dont une bonne majorité ne connait que de nom au mieux.
Combien ici l'ont découvert en etant sur ce forum par exemple ?

C'est sur qu'il fait du prosélytisme pour la cause du Heavy à l' "Espace Culturel "de Le****c ... On doit être la seule ville de France à avoir un Rayon Métal plus gros que celui Rap/RnB ..

Tu n'as pas l'album mais tu nous sort que Oliva n'est pas le seul à chanter dessus ?

je me suis trompé sur album (en effet puisque je ne l'ai pas) mais je pensais que l'autre chanteur qui était en tournée avec eux y était dessus aussi.
Mais en aucun cas j'étais entrain de défendre corps et ames que ce chanteur chantait sur"Poets et Madmen".

Chris Caffery révèle les projets de DVD de Savatage :

Metal Asylum: Recently some pro shot video footage of SAVATAGE when Criss Oliva was in the band during the "Streets" era, along with footage from your time with the band during the "Wake of Magellan" tour have surfaced online. When it is time to compile footage for a SAVATAGE DVD, will footage of this nature be included?

Chris: Yeah that's the plan. The idea is to make a special compilation DVD with all the videos, classic live footage from when Criss Oliva was still alive and Jon Oliva was still the lead singer, some candid stuff, plus a new live concert with everyone involved who has recorded with SAVATAGE. I know there is one concert from the Dynamo festival with the "Mountain King" lineup that had a pro shoot, actually that week they asked me to re join the band for "Gutter Ballet" was when they were flying over for the show two days later and if I had a chance to rehearse with the band at all in time I would have been part of it too. I have a copy of that show and its about an hour or so and it's the only real pro shot footage that includes Criss Oliva at all.

Et concernant une éventuelle "reformation" :

Chris: Well, I really could not tell you exactly. I know we are going to do something for the anniversary. Maybe we will do one big huge concert, record an album including all the past and present members of the band, maybe a big European festival tour. If we do a special concert tour it will include SAVATAGE's original drummer Wacholz playing the older music and probably include Alex Skolnick doing some stuff. It's just a matter of everyone getting on the same page, ya know. I'm up for anything. I think the fans want to see more than one show, I know I do.

Ca s'annonce bien tout ça en tout cas! L'interview de Oliva dans le Hard Rock mag allait dans ce sens là aussi.
Ils doivent encore un cd à leur maison de disque. Ce sera probablement un live selon moi!

J'ai un peu modifié le titre du topic pour placer deux extraits d'interview de Oliva sur le tour des 25 ans, et sur ledit dvd possible:


"- I have read that Savatage would do a final show and finish then ?"

"- I think there is going to be a tour. We are thinking about a small tour. I am never going to say that I will close it down, but if it ends up to be the last Savatage thing done, well okay. You never know. Maybe a few years go by and we decide to record something together. I never gonna say Savatage is broken up. The reason why I do this JOP stuff is that I want it out and able to do it when I want, without having the complicated structures. There is a lot of people involved in Savatage. To get all these people involved together and available at one time with one hundred percent of their attention right now is almost virtually impossible. But the 25th anniversary of Savatage is next year and we want to do something. It might be a series of shows, film and record it, perhaps some of the guys of the past come out again as guests on some stuff and I want to do this DVD package that has got all the videos of the band, a lot of live footage, a lot of backstage material, stuff of the fans, that's the plan. Hopefully we will be able to do it next Summer. I mean, that�s what we are looking at, so."

"- Will the touring of Savatage be in America?"

"- No, mostly here in Europe. Graspop will more than likely one of the things we'll do. With a big show. We are going to have the grand piano, the multiple drum kit and play our early stuff. I want to do the show chronological. Start with the early stuff, have a fifteen minute break in the middle and then it's going to move to the Zak period and go off till the end and two new songs. But they are never going to be recorded in a studio, they will only be recorded live. We are together for twenty five years now and all the guys gave the best years of their lives to the band, I cannot get mad at them when they do something else than Savatage. I love doing this, but I don�t want to do this when I am sixty, all respect for guys as Dio, but I want to be with my wife. I am married for twenty five years and I think I have seen her eight months. It sucks. I want to travel and see something instead of sitting on a bus and get drunk. We don't see anything. I have to sleep cause I have to sing. That sucks, but it is reality."



C'est bien beau le Graspop, mais faut absolument faire ca au Wacken aussi !
Rhaaaa j'espere que ça va se faire ce tour, et si toutes les periodes du 'Tage sont visitées, ça va faire quelques heures de live

En tout cas, je les vosi bien en headliner du BYH. Le concert de 2001 là-bas était bien

Une interview de Jon Oliva où il est brutalement honnête en disant que pour lui l'après Criss Oliva n'était plus Savatage... et que Savatage est mort car c'est TSO qui les fait vivre.

Jon Oliva: "You know, I'm glad you asked that because I can put that whole thing to rest. There's nothing going on. The situation is very simple. You've got the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA which is a multi-platinum, selling 30,000 tickets a night, band that is actually SAVATAGE with a different name and different singers, that has become successful. And you've got SAVATAGE which has a loyal core audience that is a lot smaller. You're talking worldwide about maybe a couple hundred thousand people where you know, I'm sitting here, talking to you on the phone, looking at my wall and I've got five platinum albums and not one of them says SAVATAGE. And that's not saying anything bad about SAVATAGE. We all loved SAVATAGE but we gave SAVATAGE its chance to get to the level where it was supposed to get to and it never did, for whatever reasons, you know — we had tragedies, everything like that. But to me SAVATAGE was never SAVATAGE after Criss died. All these other lineups of the band that people heard from 'Edge Of Thorns' (1993, Atlantic Records) on, to me was more like TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA actually than SAVATAGE. 'Dead Winter Dead' (1995, Atlantic Records), 'Handful Of Rain' (1994, Atlantic Records), 'The Wake Of Magellan' (1998, Atlantic Records)... those were the albums that spawned the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. Because we knew we had that sound, especially with 'Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12-24' and going in SAVATAGE we were getting no sales and no interest! People don't understand that whether they want to accept it or not, it is a business. I have mouths to feed, I have a family, I have bills just like everybody else and it's kind of asinine for people to sit there and argue with me about why I'm not doing SAVATAGE when SAVATAGE never made us any money. I mean we spent far more money of our own, keeping the band together and putting the band on the road than we ever earned. And we did that for a long time! A lot of bands would have cashed it in after 3-4 years of not making any money. We kept the band together for 15-20 years without making any money! And it just got to the point where it was like well, what do you do? Do you go play a club in Greece for 2,000 people or do you play Madison Square Garden in New York for 25,000 people?"
