Sinon j'aime bien Diabolus in Musica, je vous trouve un peu dur avec cet album qui reste plus qu'honnête.

parce que Slayer en live ... ça dépote sévère avec des tempos bien plus speeds que ceux des albums (Seasons in the abyss passe pour un album de berceuses après écoute du live, he he he) ... et puis ça permet de voter pour plusieurs albums à la fois !

Haunting the Chapel, parce qu'il est encore plus court que RIB, et plus "true"! Et puis, Chemical Warfare doit être le truc le plus extreme qui ait vu le jour en 84, alors que Hell awaits(en 85) a des concurrents plus que sérieux( les premiers Possessed et Exodus entre autres).

J'en ai passé des heures à l'époque à me demander quel était le meilleur Slayer: South of Heaven, Seasons..., Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, mon avis changeait presque tous les jours.

Avec le recul je me rends compte que c'est finalement Show no Mercy que je préfère depuis une dizaine d'années, c'est là que Tom Araya chante le mieux et pour moi chaque chanson est un classique, et le coté mélodique, les influences Judas Priest me déplaisent pas non plus.

J'adore aussi Live Undead , parce qu'il a été enregistré live en studio, il a un coté spontané unique, on dirait presque une démo.
Le maxi Haunting the Chapel détruit tout aussi.

j'ai aussi voté "Show No Mercy" c'est l'album que j'écoute le plus, et j'adore le chant de Tom Arraya sur cet opus, après ça va decrescendo chez lui (selon mes goûts of course)... pis y a rien à jeter sur ce disque, c'était un plaisir que d'entendre un titre comme "Fight Till Death" sur la dernière tournée

Alors depuis le début de ce sondage je me suis procuré plusieurs albums et écouté les autres sauf 'Diabolus' et 'God Hates Us All'

Season In the Abyss - forcément ...

C'est pour moi l'album le plus abouti de Slayer. Un mix parfait entre la "brutalité basique" (pas tant que ça mais bon) de RIB et le côté un peu trop adouci de South Of Heaven, le tout assaisoné avec une atmosphère vraiment particulière. Attention, j'adore les 2 précédents aussi mais Season est au-dessus.

J'aime bien Hell Awaits, mais ça fait longtemps que je ne l'ai pas écouté et j'ai un vague souvenir de certains titres qui seraient plutôt moyens mais je ne me souviens plus (et c'est le seul que je n'ai pas donc ... enfin le seul de la période intéressante de Slayer.)

Show No Mercy serait dans la course s'il avait un meilleur son, mais ça fait aussi son charme.

Après Seasons, Slayer pour moi à fait une grande pause sans album

J'avoue bien malgré moi qu'il ne tient pas autant la longueur que je l'espérais, il est bien, mais sans plus... Je n'ai pas l'envie impulsive de le mettre dans le toaster comme d'autres cds pour l'instant.... ya de bons riffs, mais chais pas...

SLAYER frontman Tom Araya recently answered questions from registered members of the group's official forum. A couple of excerpts follow:

Q: Did SLAYER really do a song with Phil Anselmo called "Unscathed"?

Tom (answering through a moderator): No idea. If it was done, it wasn't with Tom. If it was, then it was the other guys from SLAYER. When they were doing "God Hates Us All" something was going on, but can't say for sure if this was it. He doesn't think it was the guys from SLAYER.

Q: What are you opinions on "Divine Intervention" and "Diabolus In Musica"? And what do you think about Paul's [Bostaph] drumming in SLAYER?

Tom (answering through a moderator): He can see how people see those two albums the way they do. "Diabolous" is a very rhythmic album to him. "Divine" is the one (if any) that he would not mind re-mastering. Paul is an awesome drummer. Difference between Paul and Dave [Lombardo] is that Dave has a little more finesse and Paul is more technical. Paul warms up and such, [and is] very disciplined. Equal ability, just difference in style.

Q: Tom, what up-and-coming metal bands do you listen to?

Tom (answering through a moderator): The wife and kids have control of audio in the house and it seems like he has less and less all the time. Listens to more old metal, not so much new. Likes some stuff he's heard, but he's waiting for longevity from some of the new groups. Some bands sound really similar. Have to wait and see what next CD sounds like and where they are at in three years.

Q: I've seen an interview with Tony Iommi from BLACK SABBATH and he was saying how enjoys playing "Paranoid" now as much or even more than he ever has. What old SLAYER song do you enjoy playing that you have grown more fond of as the years have passed?

Tom (answering through a moderator): A lot of "Show no Mercy" and "Hell Awaits" stuff. In Perth [Australia] they did a three-song medley — "Die By the Sword", "Show No Mercy", and "Captor of Sin". "Show No Mercy" preceded by a drum solo to first chords of "Show No Mercy". "Fight till Death", "Die by the Sword", "Black Magic", "The Antichrist" are all old songs that he enjoys playing. They play the stuff a bit faster live than the studio and he just can't get tired of playing them, it's not possible.

Q: Tom, when did you first realise that you had that amazing scream?

Tom (answering through a moderator): Not sure. The "Angel of Death" scream came about in the studio and Jeff said, "I need you to scream right here." "How long?" Tom asks. "I don't' know, but I need you to scream right here." Jeff and Kerry looked at each other when he did it and the second take is the audio that you hear on the CD.

Q: Will you be recording "The Final Six" [leftover track from "Christ Illusion" sessions]? For anything? That could be a great live song! What's your favorite song you guys have covered...

Tom (answering through a moderator): "The Final Six" is going to be worked on and another song that was edited a bit is going to be reworked. Cover song: "Highway Star" by DEEP PURPLE. "Wrathchild" by MAIDEN.

South of Heaven pour moi, malgré le peu d'albums du groupe à ma disposition, je le trouve plus homogène que Reign in Blood. (bien que angel of death à elle seule ait failli me faire changer d'avis )

Le Reign In Blood Est Vraiment Excellent ya pas a dire (Et pour moi la meilleur reste Piece by Piece sans aucune doute). Sauth Of Heaven est magnfique aussi mais Ze Must reste quand même Season... ya pas a dire,

L'album de reprise est aussi excellent, perso je l'adore tout comme le petit dernier qui, avec quelques enorme chanson s'en sort pas mal... aller je vais donné sa chance a celui là !

Absolutely, when we were making those records we were really into MERCYFUL FATE, which is why the "Hell Awaits" songs are so long. We were really into them and that is why there are ten thousand riffs and all those songs. But that album was the last time you could totally see an influence on us. I think that was the last time when were impressionable. Now we know what we do and we know what the formula for a SLAYER song is. I mean, I know the difference between liking someone and being influenced by them. But I think a lot of musicians don't.

Ultimate-Guitar.com: VENOM were another heavy influence on the sound and musical direction of SLAYER?

Yeah. Recently Cronos came around to one of our shows in Birmingham in England and I went 'that is fuckin' Cronos there man!' I never paid attention to the band once Cronos had left. He was the only reason why I was into the band. I dug his VENOM personality. A funny thing happened recently too. I was doing autographs in Germany for one of their music shows and Mantas was there too whom I had never met before so I didn't recognize him! (laughs) He doesn't look anything like he used to. Anyway he's telling me all these stories and I'm like "Yeah, I was on that tour," and he's like, "Well, I'm Mantas!" And I go "Fuck off, no you're not!" (laughs) I still listen to them all time on my I-Pod.
