Among prog-metal lovers, the Sarasota-Bradenton band CRIMSON GLORY is semi-legendary, a rival to QUEENSRŸCHE and TOOL — especially in Europe, where its out-of-print albums are highly sought collectors' items.

It's been six years since the band released its last album, and 16 years since it performed with its classic lineup.

That will change in 2006, when CRIMSON GLORY celebrates the 20th anniversary of its first album with reissues of its back catalog, new releases of rare audio and video, and live performances, says founder/guitarist Jon Drenning.

"There's a tremendous amount of loyal fans around the world who love this band, and they're making it possible for this to happen, because they keep demanding more material from CRIMSON GLORY," Drenning said.

Drenning has reassembled original members Midnight (lead vocals), Ben Jackson (guitar) and Jeff Lords (bass). The drummer has yet to be announced.

The reunion will include:

Remastered reissues of the band's self-titled first CD, originally released in 1986, "Transcendence" (1988) and "Astronomica" (1999), all on Black Lotus Records. All will contain previously unreleased tracks; "Astronomica" may include Midnight's vocals for the first time and a new video shot at the pyramids in Egypt.

A DVD featuring never-before-released live footage, including a 1989 concert at the Manatee Civic Center.

An anthology box set, "Valley of Shadows, Kingdoms of Light".

Live performances at various European festivals.

In addition, Drenning has signed a side deal with Black Lotus to distribute CDs by unknown American bands in Europe. Drenning, who books and promotes acts in various Bradenton clubs, has already made agreements with GARGAMEL! and RIPA JODA.

The band also plans on recording an all-new album for 2007, backed by a tour.

All this begs one question: Will CRIMSON GLORY once again don the face masks synonymous with its name?

"Being that it's part of our history, I think we will to some degree," Drenning said. "Maybe for (concert) encores, we'll put the masks back on."

C'est bizarre, Midnight a répété dans plein d'interviews qu'il était ok pour un album mais pas pour rejouer live avec Crimson...

j'ai jamais ecouté le dernier crimson qui etait sorti chez NTS
il donne quoi ?

j'ai toujours été aigri de la disparition de Crimson en premiere partie de Demons & Wizards

et le deuxieme D&W il donne quoi par rapporrt au 1ier ?

J'ai bien aimé Astronomica, par contre la voix de Wade Black est assez différente de Midnight, plus brute et moins originale. Un album pas mal controversé vu le changement et ses quelques expérimentations, et quand même pas au niveau des 2 premiers à mon avis...

Astronomica, perso, je l'ai pas trop aimé. Justement à cause de l'approche plus brutale de Wade Black et au côté un peu "bourrin" de l'album en général. Je trouve que ça manque de finesse pour du Crimson Glory. Après Black a fait un gros boulot c'est clair, mais passer après Midnight, pas facile. Ils ont au moins eu le mérite de pas se répéter mais dans l'esprit, ça me fait un peu penser à ce que Judas a essayé de faire avec Jugulator. Avec un peu plus de réussite pour CG quand même.

Le groupe vient de signer chez Black Lotus. Le label grec avait déjà Midnight en solo dans son écurie, ça a dû bien faciliter les choses. Un beau programme est prévu pour les fans, en tout cas: rééditions remasterisées des vieux albums avec bonus tracks, DVD, et nouvel album pour 2007.

It was reported back in March 2005 that CRIMSON GLORY had reunited with original singer Midnight and would be releasing a new album. It was an announcement that was met with a great deal of speculation, later
confirmed by the Herald Tribune in November 2005. The following press
release regarding the reunion and a record deal has now been issued via
the band's official website:

For 16 long years, the hands of the clock were ticking away aimlessly,
for 16 long years there was very little happening. For 16 long years
there was a big gap in the world of Metal. But not anymore !

Finally that wait is now over! Crimson Glory members Jon Drenning, Jeff
Lords and Ben Jackson have finally reunited with their original singer
Midnight, following the massive demand from their loyal fanbase around
the globe and are ready to take on the world.

Now that Crimson Glory are back, metal fans all around the world can
rejoice, as there is a wealth of material that the band will release
through Black Lotus Records - on this - the bands 20th anniversary.

Firstly the Remasters :

The much revered eponymous debut album of Crimson Glory will be expanded - remastered and have a new title. Crimson Glory - Lost Reflections will not only feature new artwork, new and previously unseen band photos, lyrics and new liner notes but also the added bonus of the previously unreleased songs - 'Love Me - Kill Me' and 'Dream Dancer', which was originally only found on the Par cassette release of the album and on some hard to find singles, a new video for the song 'Lost Refection' and a band interview about the first CD, shedding light on how this
magnificent opus was crafted.

Apart from the debut, an upgraded version of the band's defining
masterpiece Transcendence will be released - subtitled Transcendence :
Renovatio, featuring new cover art, unpublished band photos, lyrics and
new liner notes, new mastering, demo versions of two songs as bonuses, a
new video for the song 'Painted Skies' and a band interview about the
second CD.

Later in this year and beyond:

There are plans for a DVD with the tentative title : Phantoms Of The

De toute façon je ne connais pas musicalement ce que fait ce groupe mais il suffit juste de regarder pour voir que c'est plus Santa Barbara qu'autre chose ce groupe. Un coup je pars, un coup je reviens ...

Tout ce que je sais, c'est que Black Lotus a tanné tous les membres de Crimson Glory pour qu'ils se reforment. Ca leur a pris un an et demi. Mais visiblement ça a marché. Maintenant on verra bien ce que ça va donner. Personnellement je ne fais pas de pronostics sur ce coup là.

Maintenant que j'y pense, Black Lotus c'est quand même viser bas pour un groupe comme Crimson qui aurait pu signer chez une grosse écurie sans problème pour leur retour, à la façon de Candlemass par exemple.

Peut-être que les autres labels estiment que le groupe n'a plus les moyens de revenir au niveau de ses 2 premiers albums, ce qui se comprend...

De son côté Midnight jamais à court d'idées se lance dans la peinture de ses chansons

"As most of you know, I DON'T LISTEN TO MUSIC. Over the past few months, I have been forced to listen to CRIMSON over and over to rehearse... not to mention the M2 [solo] stuff... so... in order to maintain what little sanity I have left, I have begun to paint again after many, many years... in my extremely rare spare time. I have a strict policy of never holding onto anything from my past except my lyrics/poems, so I have decided to commission these paintings to the highest bidder. I won't want to keep them when I'm done so I will sell them to my closest fans only. My website is the only place I will make this offer. These paintings will be done in acrylic on canvas and the buyer's name will be blended hidden somewhere in the painting. I will only paint one painting for each song representing each song's emotion and colors. I will never paint the same song twice and the buyer will have his or her choice of which song they would like me to paint and a choice of ...ANY... song I have ever sang. I have already started on 'Lost Reflection', so this one will be the first one up for bid. I will allow offers in a new room to be created soon in the forum called 'The Art Gallery'."

Bon , prévus pour ces 2 semaines la réédition des 2 derniers albums en date de Crimson Glory.
Perso, j'attendais davantage la réédition des 2 premiers mais bon , il paraît que c'est dans l'air aussi...

Il était récemment question aussi de ressortir Astronomica avec Midnight au chant, d'où ma surpise en voyant cette réédition là....

C'est un peu mal foutu quand même car Strange and beautiful était devenu introuvable (comme les 2 premiers), aussi j'aurais bien voulu que ce soit avec ce cd qu'il y ait un bonnus cd....mais j'imagine que c'est fait expres encore....

Bref, tout ça c'est bien, mais un nouvel album et une tournée ce serait pas mal aussi....

Moi c'est le premier album qui m'a fait découvrir le groupe.

Je serais également plus intéressé par une version d'Astronomica chantée par Midnight, mais peut-être que ce dernier n'est justement pas très chaud, déjà qu'ils ont du lui forcer la main pour se reformer...

Sur Astronomica il y a quand même quelques perles comme "Touch the Sun"

Si ca se trouve, ca pourrait bien être des rééditions avant d'autres...
Ces 2 albums là vont être préssés à 2000 exemplaires seulement...
C'est vraiment pas beaucoup..

mon petit frère m'avait offert strange and beautiful...en raison de l'ignoble pochette à la tête de mort coincée dans un magma de couleurs à gerber.
mais l'album est pas mal loin d'être mauvais mais je ne suis pas leur plus grand fan..le prog en général me fait chier....mais ça se laisse écouter et Midnight chante effectivement assez bien.
cette reformation ne va pas me jeter dans leur bras.

Strange and beautiful est en rupture totale avec les 2 premiers albums.
LE côté progressif est mis de côté sur cet album...Une orientation différente quoi... plus hard rock roots...
Ce n'est pas leur meilleur, loin de là...mais il n'est pas mauvais non plus.
