Update from Don:
Hi everybody as you see we've been busy boys,we just got back from Mexico and it was a blast! the fans were awesome and they sang every song with us, now i need to learn spanish for them. the only bummer was i didn't get to see Pancho Villa's house but now i have an excuse to go back soon. the food there was awesome! Now were off to Greece for 3 shows and a little vacation. We filmed mexico and will also film greece for a bonus DVD with our next CD lightening strikes again. we had a great time last year in greece so this time should be no exception. so mexico and greece in one week now thats being rock dogs, we'll go anywhere to play for Dokken fans I hope to see you all on tour this fall, Barry and Mick will be out with uncle Ted until August as Jon and i finish up our 4, thats right 4 new projects. a new studio CD, A live CD, greatest hits CD and my solo CD. other than that were just hanging out LOL, GOTTA GO i'm off to the airport peace.

sinon un petit sondage pour rappeler que le groupe a sorti trois bombes de hard/heavy dans les années 80 à l'époque où George Lynch faisait partie du groupe

J'aurai bien voté Back For the Attack, car c'est celui où il y a mes chansons préférées !! Mais j'ai plutôt choisi Under the Lock and key.
Merci Weik de faire un sujet sur Dokken, parce qu'il n'y avait pas grand chose ici sur ce super groupe !!
Par contre, je préfère la période avec George Lynch. J'ai le DVD live from the sun, mais je trouve que c'est très différent...

J'ai mis du temps à la saisir celle-là....

Sinon , ayant vu ce "fabuleux" sondage sur Dokken hier soir (fort tard) , c'est ce matin , en nettoyant les miettes sur la table à la fin de mon petit déjeuner que je me suis dit que ce serait sympa de réécouter un peu tout ça .
J'ai dépoussiéré un peu les 3 CD en questions ( Après une hibernation d' environ 10/15 ans) et à la fin du troisième j'avais toujours pas fini de ramasser les miettes de brioches....

En fait je ne sais toujours pas quoi voter ...

Don Dokken est un excellent chanteur et Georges Lynch

possède vraiment sa patte unique ( ah ces solos !!!) ...Globalement c'est vrai que c'est quand même super-tata-hair-metal-band ...

"Tooth and nail" un peu court et ça manque d'un petit quelque chose...

"Under Lock And Key" avec sa production Kernon/Wagner est tellement léchée que des fois certains titres deviennent véritablement noyés dans un océan de guimauve...

"Back for Attack" Là pour le coup c'est un peu trop long. Beaucoup de titres qui se ressemblent ... l' album aurait pu être plus court ( 4 titres : Kiss of Death / Standing in the Shadow / Mr scary / Dreams warriors pour Freddy...)

Bon allez après délibération avec moi-même je vote pour Tooth and Nail...

( Pfffff ... J'arrête là ce post . Pour moi c'est un exploit de taper plus de 3 mots , je n' ai aucune facilité à mettre par écrit dans un langage articulé compréhensible et structuré ce que je ressens ...Je vais retourner à mes montages photos à là con !!! )

Don Dokken est un excellent chanteur, en effet !! D"ailleurs, l"album "Up from the ashes" de DON DOKKEN, est excellent !! Ca ressemble pas mal à du Dokken, en plus !! Par contre, ce qu"ils ont fait après l"album live au Japon, j"ai pas aimé !! "The maddest hatter",...etc

Glam-Metal.com: Let's talk about "Lightning Strikes Again". I know everyone is really excited about it. Tell me how the directions are going in musically in the band. Is it more like "Hell To Pay"? Because I really liked the direction you took the band with that record.

Jon: To be honest with you, it is nothing like "Hell To Pay". I don't think so all. The twelve songs that I have been working out so far sound like vintage DOKKEN. If I played you the demo, you would probably be pretty shocked.

Glam-Metal.com: Is there going to be any ballads on "Lightning Strikes Again"?

Jon: Maybe one. It will probably be either one or none. We will probably do one. I wrote three ballads so far, that we have been messing with. We will probably pick the best one. Likely there will be one ballad, and maybe one "Jaded Heart" type of song. That is it, the rest are going to be all rocking.

Allez je revote pour Back For The Attack, rien que pour Kiss Of Death, Mr Scary et Dream Warriors (quel clip

)

Le groupe a atteint son apogée pour moi sur cet album (même si un peu trop long), mais il y a une certaine unité sur cet album au contraire par exemple de Under Lock And Key qui contient aussi du bon riff mais aussi du hard FM qui me plait moyennement.

Dokken vont sortir un live/dvd de 1981!

DOKKEN will issue a live CD, entitled "Dokken Live 1981 from Conception", on March 13 via Rhino Records. "I think the DVD is coming out at the same time, but will find out for sure by Friday," the group's frontman, Don Dokken, writes on their MySpace page. "The videos on the DVD are 'Breaking the Chains', 'Just Got Lucky', 'Burning like a Flame', 'Alone Again', 'Dream Warriors', 'Into the Fire', 'Walk Away', 'The Hunter', 'In My Dreams', 'It's Not Love', 'Heaven Sent', and the 'Unchain the Night' video. There will be also some commentary of Mick [Brown, drums] and myself talking about the making of the videos, so there's the update for now, I think I forgot one video but can't think of it right now 'cause I'm fried."

The first release, a CD entitled "From Conception: Live 1981", captures DOKKEN in an early, previously unseen concert recorded before the band signed with Elektra. The second release is the DVD debut of the band's first home video, the platinum-certified "Unchain The Night", which is expanded with unreleased videos and new extended interviews with the band. Each will be available separately on March 13. The CD will be offered at regular physical retail outlets for a suggested list price of $18.98 and at all digital retail outlets for a suggested list price of $9.99. Additionally, there will be an exclusive iTunes version featuring a video interview with the band available for $11.99. The DVD will be available at all regular retail outlets for a suggested list price of $14.99. Both will also be available at http://www.rhino.com.

"From Conception" finds singer Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, drummer Mick Brown, and bassist Jeff Pilson ripping through 10 unreleased live performances of several songs that were eventually recorded for the band's debut album, "Breaking The Chains", including "Live To Rock (Rock To Live)", "Night Rider", the album's title track and "Paris", a showcase for Lynch's formidable guitar heroics. The live disc also contains three previously unreleased songs that were excluded from their debut album because the label did not feel they were commercial enough at the time: "Goin' Down", "Hit And Run", and "Liar".

When DOKKEN released the home video "Unchain The Night" in 1985, the band was touring for its second platinum album, "Under Lock And Key". The original VHS release contained on- and off-stage footage shot by the band while on tour in Europe and America. Also included were videos of the hit singles "It's Not Love" and "In My Dreams" as well as "Into The Fire", "Just Got Lucky" and "Alone Again" from 1984's "Tooth And Nail".

For its DVD debut, "Unchain The Night" is expanded with four previously unreleased videos: "Burning Like A Flame", and "Heaven Sent" from 1987's "Back For The Attack", plus "Walk Away", a studio track added to the 1988 live album "Beast From The East". Also included is the video for "Dream Warriors", a song for "A Nightmare On Elm Street III" that featured the band and two stars from the film: Robert Englund (as Freddy Krueger) and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette. The DVD also features a newly recorded interview with the band.

Justement je viens juste de trouver la new et je cherchais à la publier mais j'ai été devancé de peu !

Il a l'air bonnar ce DVD, ya tous les vieux clips, en plus !! Tout ce que j'aime ! JE LE VEUX !!!

Mais il faut attendre jusqu'au mois de Mars !

Ben fait je me contente de faire un très rapide tour quotidien sur Blabbermouth et Bravewords et de sélectionner ce qui me semble intéressant pour le forum

Under lock and key pour moi. mais cette trilogie faist parties des meilleurs albums du hard us.
Le dvd devrait être sympa (dream warrior en clip : toutes les 80's en 4 minutes), dommage qu'on ai pas un peu de live en prime !

Sur Youtube, j'ai vu quelques lives du début de Dokken 1982 avec George Lynch, Don Dokken et son polo rayé, époque "Breaking the chains", c'était pas mal !

J'ai vote pour Under Lock And Key, sans pour autant mettre ce disque sur un piedestal. Les 2 autres bof, ca decolle jamais vraiment je trouve... Je comprends pas trop l'engouement pour ce groupe en fait

Je prefere largement des groupes comme Ratt ou Winger, et dans la categorie "groupe avec un super guitariste" le Pride de White Lion est intouchable pour moi!
