ouaip je me demande aussi

il m'ennuie toujours autant ce disque, j'ai pas encore réussi à l'écouter d'une traite...je trouve vraiment qu'ils pêchent au niveau des guitares qui sont pour moi la base et l'essence du Thrash, les solos sont pas inoubliables et la rythmiques franchement fadasse...niveau chant, batterie, basse rien à dire on entend que ça
bon Dimanche Testament live in Switzerland, je vais vérifier si ça passe le test du live, on va vraiment voir ce que valent ces nouveaux morceaux par rapport aux classiques du groupe

bon ben je rentre de la date de Testament et c'était

set list super old school, tous les classiques, il manquait juste Trial By Fire, mais bon y a eu "Alone In The Dark" donc ça m'allait

et très peu de nouveaux morceaux en fait.... ils ont fait "3 days in darkness" de The gathering et "More Than Meet The Eyes" du dernier qui passait d'ailleurs très bien...et je crois que c'est tout, enfin y a un titre que j'ai pas pu recasé, peut-être un morceau de Demonic ou The Gathering ou du dernier vu que je les écoute très peu... mais sinon que des classiques période skolnick à part "Low"

un bon paquet d'écoute pour dire que cet album fracasse sévère !!!! c'est vraiment du bon Testament et pour leur retour en studio ils se sont pas plantés !

cet album est vraiment très très bon , bien dand la veine old school
la production est très compacte et Skolnick a l'intelligence de ne pas tirer la couverture vers lui .
c'est vraiment l'album que jamais plus metallica sortira, ou osera sortir ou même penser à sortir tant ils sont englués dans les modes du moment pour des interets commerciaux .
Je ne pense pas que les mecs de testament pensent cartonner financierement avec cet album et tourner en tete d'affiche dans les stades aux states , ça preserve quelque chose d'important dans un groupe : l'honneteté.

à part ça , j'espere qu'Alex Skolnick va continuer son experience en trio parce que ça , c'etait vraiment très sympa , une "autre manière" de jouer du hard .
Pour les fans du guitariste , il a joué en live une fois avec les genies de la guitare que sont rodrigo y gabriela , vous pouvez trouver ça sur youtube ( en deux parties) , bonne ecoute !

Peterson aurai voulu qu'il en fasse plus justement, notamment au niveau de l'écriture des morceaux, apparemment il a pas trop eu le temps... Pour le prochain sûrement !!! en tout cas cet album fait vraiment mal !!!

Eric Peterson parle déjà du prochain album :

Metal Asylum: Do you have any songs left over from the recording of "The Formation Of Damnation" and will they show up on the next album?

Eric: Yes. We have a lot of riffs left over, songs… maybe one or two ready to go. After the touring is done in September/October, I will start putting stuff together and hopefully the album will be out in 2010. A couple songs are complete, just not vocally. One song is a ballad and we haven't had a slow one since "Low" ("Trail Of Tears"), and this one is incredible, I love it. It reminds me of something off SCORPIONS' "Lovedrive". It has a very festive feel, very wintery European feel. I came up with some new riffs recently, one after I saw the new "Underworld" prequel "Rise of the Lycans" — a couple of chords progressions. No lyrics yet for the new stuff.

Metal Asylum: Do you have a direction for the new songs?

Eric: Probably more melodic and more heavy; the best of both worlds, like "The Formation of Damnation". Looking at more thrash on the new record, but yet there will be a ballad. [Laughs] More of everything, less of nothing. [Laughs]

Metal Asylum: Looking to try anything new with the music on the new album?

Eric: You know, for the slower song, I am looking to get some strings (violins, cellos) on it instead of like the black metal keyboard thing. Actually, getting a real symphony on the slow song and I tried it out with my DRANGONLORD keyboard player and it worked. He actually thought it was for DRAGONLORD. I think it could be really cool and I wouldn't let it take over the song, [it would be] more of an atmosphere thing.

Metal Asylum: Do you see orchestral sounds in a TESTAMENT thrash song or do you think it may take away from the power and intensity?

Eric: That's more DRAGONLORD's thing, that's black metal territory. The closest we got to that was "Demonic", but that was with a death vocal.

Metal Asylum: Do you and Alex [Skolnick, guitar] sit down and write/work together on TESTAMENT music?

Eric: We have. On this latest record, he wrote the lyrics and music for "Fear". We co-wrote "Dangers of the Faithless". For the next record, if time permits, we will work together. See, it's hard sometimes because he is also busy with the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, and when he is doing that, I will work on music regardless. But it is important to TESTAMENT's sound that we work together, so even if I write a lot of the music, we still collaborate at some point.

Je suis pas trop fan de Testament, mais je suis tombé sur le blog d' Alex Skolnick. Il a écrit tout un article sur : Blackie Lawless (qui le fascine) et il se demandait si c'était pas un gros pourri, en vrai.....

Quelques jours plus tard, le même Alex écrit ceci dans son blog :
"Quand j'ai écrit mon dernier post, je n'avais aucune idée qu'au cours des 2 jours suivant, je serais très très près de ...Blackie Lawless. Je n'avais aussi aucune idée que mon ami Kyle est son guitar tech, et que WASP était sur l'affiche des 2 prochains festivals, et que je passerais 3 heures dans un ferry avec le groupe au complet !! Pourvu que Blackie n'ai pas lu mon blog !!!"

Il raconte ensuite qu'il est devenu très ami avec un guitariste de Boston,.....un certain Doug Blair !!

"The Formation of Damanation" va être ré-édité:

Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT are taking the stage once again in support of their 2008 release, "The Formation of Damnation", TESTAMENT will be touring as special guest with fellow thrash legends MEGADETH and SLAYER. The tour will feature the classic lineup of vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Paul Bostaph and will mark the 20th anniversary of these major players taking the stage together on the same stage as MEGADETH and SLAYER.

"The Formation of Damnation" will be reissued just in time for this amazing tour with SLAYER and MEGADETH with a bonus CD that contains live renditions of the classics "The New Order", "Practice What You Preach" and "Souls Of Black". The tracks will also feature enhanced video clips recorded in Alcatraz for their MTV special "52/52" campaign feature as well as the music video for "More Than Meets The Eye". This special album re-release with bonus material will be in stores on February 23. TESTAMENT will have the tour reissue available on all of the dates of the upcoming "American Carnage" tour prior to it hitting stores.
