TWISTED TOWER DIRE has completed work on its fourth album, "Netherworlds", due on February 23, 2007 via Remedy Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Crest of the Martyrs" was recorded at Killabrew Studios in Annandale, Virginia with producer Matt Crooks. The track listing is as follows:

Virginia's "classic metal" act TWISTED TOWER DIRE have parted ways with vocalist Tony Taylor. "Because of some personal problems he's been having, we asked him to take a break from the band and not do the string of shows we have lined up throughout the fall," guitarist Scott Waldrop writes on the group's web site. "This was mainly out of concern for him and also because we thought it would stabilize the band. Tony told us he was quitting on the spot if we asked him take a break. So far, that is that. Right now we're not sure if there's any chance he will come back. Our thoughts are with him and his family. The conversation only lasted about an hour, but it was absolutely one of the worst things I've had to go through between friends. For the meantime, TWISTED TOWER DIRE is playing out with Johnny Aune on vocals from the Raleigh metal band VIPER. Check them out at: http://www.myspace.com/viper."

C'est dommage, j'aimais bien ce chanteur

Il serait temps que l'album sorte, en tout cas, parce que ça fait bientôt quatre ans que le groupe n'a plus rien fait et l'album précédent était une tuerie

L'album avec la couverture horrible de Riggs? Quelques bon riffs, un chanteur efficace, mais globalement super quelconque. Y'a quand même beaucoup mieux en matière de heavy trad, même chez les groupes récents.

j'avais bien aimé "Isle Of Hydra" y avait de sacré bon morceaux, le dernier est pas top, surtout avec la prod' Piet Sielck, ils ont perdu pas mal d'originalité , ça sonnait trop européen du coup

C'est clair que cet album n'était pas original du tout, mais je trouve qu'il contient vraiment de super morceaux.

J'aime toujours autant Crest of the Martyrs pour ma part, en dépis du son ultra-stéréotypé et un peu lourdaud de Piet Sielck.

Il est vrai quand même que Isle of the Hydra représente mieux le style du groupe, ça reste leur meilleur pour moi.

^ et d'ailleurs les 2 premiers albums du groupe sont réédités avec des bonus :

In the beginning of 2009 Heaven and Hell Records will be releasing re-issues of the first two TWISTED TOWER DIRE albums, The Curse Of Twisted Tower and Isle Of Hydra. Both will be a limited 1,000 press two-disc set. Each will include a ton of bonus material from the beginning of the band’s career up through the time of each album’s original release date. Including material never before released on CD. More details to follow soon.

Je les avais vus cet été au Qc Metal Fest alors qu'ils tournaient avec Cauldron. J'ai leur avant-dernier album. Et j'ai malheureusement perdu une des deux pins que le chanteur m'avait données dans le pit au show de Testament quelques jours plus tard.

“Make it Dark” is TWISTED TOWER DIRE fifth full-length studio album.
TWISTED TOWER DIRE’s name has been a synonymous for uncompromising HEAVY METAL since its inception in 1995.
Formed out “of a stubborn hatred for the 90’s anti-metal culture” as their website states, TWISTED TOWER DIRE have always been able to maintain a respectable profile, not following transitory trends but keeping true to their original metal beliefs.
After their 2007 release “Netherworlds”, TTD took a short break which included the entry of new singer Johnny Aune replacing Tony Taylor. Tragically, Tony died in a motorcycle accident on 6th Feb 2010.
In terms of songwriting “Make It Dark” represents probably the most mature album ever written by TTD. With a direct approach, the band has been able to write a very compact sounding release, made of some immediate hit songs as well as others marked with more traditional TTD taste.
“Make it Dark” is a sum of those elements which are the pillars of rock/metal music in general and that are so greatly expressed by Twisted Tower Dire in this release: guitar and vocal melodies above the standards, catchy refrains and most important of all, the feeling that each and every of these songs might become a metal classic!
Strengthened by Chris Salamone’s (While Heaven Wept) post-studio work, “Make it Dark” is a serious candidate as a 2011 top metal release

high roller devais sortir un ep,j'attend toujours

j'espere que johnny aune sera a la hauteur vocalement.

Faudrait que j'approfondisse ce groupe, je connaissais un peu grâce aux morceaux de Crest of the Martyrs sur des samplers de 2003, et quand je les ai vus en 2008 avec Cauldron, j'avais justement acheté Crest. En tout cas, il me semble que Johnny Aune se débrouillait très bien en live et que ça ne divergeait pas trop de la voix de Tony Taylor.

Arghh mais ce groupe je le trouve vraiment tout pourri!! une caricature de heavy 80's avec une légère touche épique, un chant pénible, pas de bons riffs...en plus cette pochette

j'ai du mal à comprendre qu'ils aient pu trouver leur public...enfin j'ai aussi le même problème avec Sacred Steel.

J'adore "Crest of the martyrs", il contient des hymnes pas possibles

"Isle of the Hydra" est pas mal, plus épique mais moins marquant, et je n'ai pas du tout aimé "Netherworlds", avec un chant que je trouve pas top et un son catastrophique.
On va donc bien voir ce que va donner leur nouvel album

Le budget n'est pas passé dans la pochette.

Le 6ème album des américains de Twisted Tower Dire (Heavy Power) se nomme Wars in the Unknown et vient tout juste de sortir via le label No Remorse Records. Une lyric video pour la chanson True North est disponible à l'écoute.

Nameless Grave Records presents Crest Of The Martyrs Demos, an alternate/demo version of Twisted Tower Dire’s adored third album, making the recordings available for the first time.

In the days of olde, after classic heavy metal was supplanted by extreme music and before the current reignition of interest that the genre has enjoyed, Northern Virginia’s Twisted Tower Dire tirelessly defended true heavy metal in all forms as they sought to breathe new light into a then largely dead genre. By the time their now-legendary third album Crest Of The Martyrs was written they were on top of the world, having played Wacken for the first time a couple years earlier and having released two full-lengths on The Miskatonic Foundation, run by Rich Walker of Solstice fame, as well as a wide array of EPs, splits, compilation tracks, and more.

Crest Of The Martyrs was the next step: a bigger power metal label, sleeker production, and Twisted Tower Dire’s biggest hooks and choruses yet. Underneath the gleaming power metal edge provided by the production provided by the label and studio still lurked the same triumphing true metal band, however, and for the first time Nameless Grave Records is proud to present Crest Of The Martyrs the way the band originally intended it: as a devastating, lean set of heavy metal bangers untouched by modern power metal production, and alternate studio decisions.

le son est plutôt propre pour des démos. D'habitude, je ne suis pas un fan de ce genre de sorties, que je n'écoute rarement plus d'un ou deux fois, mais que la qualité sonore et vu que j'apprécie le groupe, je devrais le prendre.
