Queensrÿche - American Soldier

Le prochain album de Queensrÿche aura pour thématique le vécu des soldats au front pendant les (nombreuses) guerres américaines depuis la 2ème guerre mondiale jusqu'à nos jours.

QUEENSRŸCHE is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their 12th studio album, American Soldier. The concept album, due this spring from Rhino/Atco, finds the band once again tackling some heavy subject matter, this time focusing on telling the story of war from a firsthand perspective. Singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate has spent the last few years conducting extensive interviews with veterans and has crafted their thoughts into this epic tale. American Soldier examines American wars from World War II through Iraq from the viewpoint of those in the trenches and on the frontlines. Following the album's release, Queensrÿche plan to present tracks from the album live on an extensive spring tour of the U.S., with international dates to follow later in 2009. The first date of the tour will be a hometown gig at Seattle's Snoqualmie Casino on April 16.

"Queensrÿche has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services," says Tate. "It seems like after every show, I'd end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I've conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes."

YEAH !!!!!

J'espère qu'ils auront retenu la leçon des trournée Mindcrime, où ils ont joué du TRUE QUeensryche et où ils ont eu pas mal de succès et donc qu'ils sortiront un album pas expérimental pour un sou !

A noter que Michael Wilton a enregistré toutes les parties de guitare de l'album cette fois.

Rhino has reportedly set a March 31 release date for "American Soldier", the new album from Seattle progressive rockers QUEENSRŸCHE. A preview of what appears to be the CD's artwork can be viewed on the poster below (view tiny image in the bottom left-hand corner).

According to AnybodyListening.net, QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton has revealed that he has recorded all the guitar parts for "American Soldier". He said in an online posting, "I have been slammed with making the deadline for the new QUEENSRŸCHE opus. I recorded all the guitars this time so it should sound more like the original 'RŸCHE."

j'ai eu peur en voyant le titre,j'ai cru a un énieme hommage patriotique pro-war et pro-bush,mais vu les explications de tate c'est autre chose.

effectivement,une photo qui en dit long !

mais comme tu dis ,vu les paroles et les themes abordés dans le passé,cela me paraissait bizarre aussi.
mais bon,je pensais la même chose de blackie lawless avant de me rendre compte récemment(propos lors des élections obama-mc cain) que c'était un redneck républicain pur et dur !

En cohérence avec le fait qu'il n'y ait que Wilton qui joue sur l'album, Mike Stone annonce qu'il quitte le groupe.
Que les spéculations sur le retour de DeGarmo commencent

Guitarist Mike Stone has announced his departure from QUEENSRŸCHE. He said in a statement, "After much consideration, I will not be joining QUEENSRŸCHE on the 2009 American Soldier Tour. I feel now is the time to focus on other musical endeavors, including my new band SPEED X with Nick Catanese of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I would like to thank all of the QUEENSRŸCHE fans around the world for being nothing less than amazing to me during my time with the band. You have treated me like gold, and I will never forget it. It has been an honor to be a part of the QUEENSRŸCHE family, and I wish Geoff, Michael, Scott and Eddie nothing but the very best."

QUEENSRŸCHE added in a statement, "We will miss [Mike]. He is a wonderful player and has contributed to our lives musically and spiritually. We wish him the best and hope to see him succeed in everything he chooses to participate in."
