The legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK have re-grouped and are ready for battle once more. The release of the "Dogs of War" boxed set last year on Metal Mind Productions was a great success, which led to the inevitable re-release of the entire back catalog. This has proven very popular with the band's die-hard fans and helped to amass a new army of young devotees worldwide. TANK is very much in demand on the live front after being absent from the touring circuit for several years. With an unmistakable attitude and energy to its trademark sound, TANK now has a new all-star line-up fully equipped to crush everything in its path. Joining Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar will be original TANK drummer Mark Brabbs alongside two new recruits — ex-RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale. Unfortunately, original TANK vocalist/bassist Algy Ward has decided to retire from active service and will concentrate his efforts on writing his autobiography.

One of the most influential formations which emerged in the beginnings of the NWOBHM madness was TANK — a fierce, ambitious young band, taking all that was the best in punk and metal to a higher level. The group was formed in Croydon (London, England) in 1980 by Alasdair "Algy" Mackie Ward, an experienced front man who wanted to go beyond his previous musical experiences, which included playing in THE SAINTS and THE DAMNED.

Metal Mind Productions released the complete discography of TANK: "The Filth Hounds of Hades - Dogs of War 1981 - 2002" in November 2007. The collection, containing TANK's full discography extended with exclusive bonus material, is available in two editions: as a nine-CD box (8CD+DVD) and a six-LP box.

TANK sans Algy Ward c'est un peu comme MOTORHEAD sans Lemmy ou VENOM sans Cronos... et je vois très mal Doogie White chanter sur ces morceaux cradingues.

euh ouaip là je pige pas bien non plus... j'adore Doogie White mais alors l'entendre chanter dans TANK, j'admets que j'y avais pas pensé

le départ d'Algy ward est une catastrophe faut bien le reconnaître, mais après tout je préfère encore un album de TANK avec Doogie White que rien du tout.
Et ça se trouve compte tenu du talent du bonhomme ça peut tout déchirer, il peut peut être adapter son registre ?

Algy dénonce le line-up qui tourne actuellement, mais avoue qu'il est physiquement incapable de jouer sur scène :

Algy Ward, the founding bassist/vocalist of the legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK, has slammed his former bandmates for taking a version of the band out on the road in Europe without him.

In a statement released to Classic Rock magazine, Ward says, "I wish the loyal TANK fans around the world to know that the band playing various European festivals this summer under the name of 'TANK' do so without my consent.

"The band name TANK, associated logos and images are my sole intellectual property and copyright.

"I am currently unable to perform live due to poor health but continue to write and record.

Responding to Algy's statement, TANK's current lineup said, "It's a real shame when bands come to this isn't it? The trouble is TANK fans want to hear TANK play live. E-mails have come in from all over the world. Promoters have for the last eight years been trying to book TANK shows but Algy can't play live.

"As Algy himself says, he's not able to tour due to on going health problems. We wish him all the best there, but in the meantime, it's a question of do TANK fans want to hear three quarters of TANK plus two highly qualified new chaps playing the TANK material (and some new songs) or not get to see TANK at all?

"Judging from the amazing reception we received at Sweden Rock Festival last week, it would seem the overwhelming answer is yes, TANK fans are rabid to get a chance to hear TANK live.

"Many of the fans at Sweden Rock were young enough never to have had a chance to see TANK play before, now at last they can. Some of the old fans we spoke to nearly had tears in their eyes, saying they never thought they'd get a chance to hear TANK live ever again.

"But it's always difficult for some fans to cope with band lineup changes, especially when it's the frontman not able to perform any more. However, we would like to point out that since 1984, the TANK sound can be directly attributed to the bludgeoning wall of power created by the Gibson Les Pauls of Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans. The most popular songs in our live show were written by Mick and he's come up with some classic new material for the forthcoming studio album which TANK fans are going to love.

"Some difficult decisions have been made over the past few months and we have no regrets. The music and our fans are what's most important to us now and always will be. Anyone who thinks we're in it for the money has been very misinformed.

"Come and see us live, have a beer with us and enjoy our music.

The track on the site is a demo version, as the group is planning to sign a new record deal in the coming weeks and enter the studio shortly afterwards to record the new CD. Other songtitles set to appear on the album include "War Machine", "Phoenix Rising" and "Great Expectations".

Guitarist Cliff Evans told MetalTalk.net to expect the biggest TANK album yet.

"We're in the process of choosing which label to go with at the moment," he said. "We have several offers open to us and we're ready to fire as soon as we sign a deal. We'll be playing tracks from 'War Machine' when we hit the road later this year."

ça avait été très bien au Headbanger's l'été dernier. De toute façon, tous ces "vieux" groupes n'ont plus guère qu'un ou deux membres d'origine maintenant, et si c'est le seul moyen de les voir en live, je prends.

Le nouveau morceau sonne bien je trouve, mais j'ai un peu de mal à dire qu'il sonne comme du Tank.

L'album avec ce line-up s'intitulera War Machine (original pour du Tank

). Il a été enregistré dans les studios de Steve Harris.
Sortie le 25 octobre.

Legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK — featuring Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar alongside three new recruits, ex-RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White, ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale and ex-ZODIAC MINDWARP drummer Dave "Grav" Cavill — are putting the finishing touches on their new album, "War Machine", for an October 25 European release via Metal Mind Productions (December 7 in the U.S. through MVD). The production was handled by Pedro Ferreira (THE DARKNESS, THERAPY?, MEAT LOAF) and the recording was done at Steve Harris' (IRON MAIDEN) Barnyard Studios.

A demo version of a new track, "Judgement Day", is available for streaming on TANK's official web site. Other songtitles set to appear on the album include "War Machine", "Phoenix Rising" and "Great Expectations".

Due to the changed lineup, "War Machine" will combine all the influences and experience of individual band members. Cliff Evans states, "We intend to make this a classic British rock/metal album that every fan should have in their collection."

Adds the band: "We think it's going to be our best album so far."

depuis je les ai vu au Headbangers avec Doogie White et ma foi ça le faisait très bien! vivement l'album j'adore ce chanteur!

achat obligatoire pour moi !!! je fais confiance à Doggie White au niveau des vocaux, j'ai pas écouter les morceaux, j'acheterai l'album comme ça, je verrai bien et même si c'est pas terrible bah tant pis, ça fera toujours un album de vendu en plus pour le groupe.

idem, j'adore TANK et même si l'alliance semble un peu étrange, je le sens bien vu le talent de Doogie White. Et puis le coté Punk des premiers TANK tient surtout à Algy Ward, les autres musicos, les 2 gratteux par exemple, ils ont joué avant Tank dans des groupes NWOBHM plutôt mélodiques donc ils devraient bien se comprendre.
Après est ce que ça sonnera encore comme du Tank classique, pas sur, mais je suis persuadé que ce sera excellent.

depuis je me suis procuré l'album et je regrette pas. Du super bon Heavy à la Dio comme j'aime! Doogie Rules... bon après c'est quand même bizarre pour du Tank mais on s'en fout c'est la musique qui compte

J'ai recu l'album ce matin, putain il est vraiment excellent ! Algy donnait un coté très rock n roll/motorhead par son timbre de voix, mais doogie apporte plus de subtilité à tank même si ca ne sonne plus trop Tank. En tout cas c'est un excellent album de Heavy Metal à la sauce anglaise

ouais, j'ai toujours pas l'album... j'hésite du coup, si ça sonne pas comme du Tank... je sais pas ce groupe avait quand même un son particulier...

Attention l'album est excellent , et musicalement on reconnait vraiment les compos de TANK sur pas mal de titres, mais certaines chansons c'est vraiment que c'est plus du heavy anglais classique. Au final l'album serait sorti sous un autre nom on trouverait ce groupe énorme mais bon, c'est vrai qu'on cherche maintenant le coté Motorhead.

je suis d'accord avec toi , cet album est tres bon mais je ne reconnais pas du tout la "patte" TANK de "this means war" ou de "filth hounds of hades" , c'est un tres bon album de heavy classicos....
