Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has posted the following message on his MySpace page:
"I am just about to start recording my solo album and I've been super-busy getting all that together. But it's going smoothly and I've got a great team that I'm working with. The artists are fantastic. Unfortunately, I can't leak any names yet, but I will do what I can to let you know as each collaboration is completed."
Slash's wife, Perla Hudson, told the Rockerrazzi web site last fall that the guitarist's forthcoming album will feature a plethora of special guests, including Ozzy Osbourne and pop/R&B singer, rapper and actress Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson).
As a musician, artist, and iconic rock figure, Slash boasts a music catalog that spans several decades and a body of work that includes some of rock's greatest anthems. Since bursting onto the scene with GUNS N' ROSES in 1985, Slash has amassed album sales nearing an astounding 100 million copies along with seven Grammy nominations among countless other accolades, accomplishments and acknowledgements. Over the course of his illustrious career, Slash has performed and recorded with some of the most distinguished names in music, luminaries as diverse as Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, James Brown, and Ray Charles. Slash continues to evolve as an artist and pursue new creative outlets in fashion, TV, film scoring, and of course video games with the hugely successful Guitar Hero franchise, while remaining true to his love of rock n' roll.

Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash has commenced recording his debut solo album with Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS) on drums, Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) on bass, and Eric Valentine (SMASH MOUTH, THIRD EYE BLIND, GOOD CHARLOTTE) in the producer's chair. Slash says, "I know you're saying, 'Didn't Josh play with Axl's GUNS N' ROSES?!' He did in the '90s for a while but left after a couple years, so I don't know if it counts much. Besides, that doesn't undermine that he is an amazing drummer."
Regarding which singers will guest on his upcoming CD, Slash said, "Unfortunately, I can't divulge that info yet, but you'll know soon enough. I will say, however, that they are fantastically talented songwriters who it's been an honor to work and write with, to say the least."
Slash's wife Perla Hudson said in a video interview at Rockerrazzi.com that both Ozzy Osbourne and Fergie will make guest appearances on her husband's upcoming solo album. Slash himself told The Pulse of Radio that he was still working out the guest list. "I'm using different singers for each song, so we're figuring out which song goes with which person and I'm not sort of divulging the list of singers, but they're all well-known singers and...sort of, you know, like I go and play on a lot of other people's records, so I'm just making a record and gonna have people come play on this one, you know."
Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland.
VELVET REVOLVER is currently searching for a replacement for Weiland, who was dismissed last April.

VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has issued the following update:
"It has been a pretty productive summer so far. My [solo] record should be done next month and the recording has gone smoothly and sounds fucking great.
"Steven Adler [ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer] played on the first of the last three tracks yesterday, along with Flea [RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS] on bass. The song kicks ass and the drums and bass sound so recognizable and sound so fucking good.
"Steven is staying clean, which is great; Flea is just amazing, period.
"Steven, Flea and I all lived and met in the same neighborhood in West Hollywood back in the day. Yesterday we had a great time reminiscing about when we all first started playing rock and roll and how school didn't fit into the plan. We were like 15. Flea was the first one to join an 'established' band called ANTHEM. I remember being envious. I had a band called TIDUS SLOAN but we didn't have a singer. Sound familiar? Steven and I didn't really have a band together until a few years later when we joined Nikki Sixx's old band LONDON after Izzy [Stradlin, ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist] left. Which, incidentally, was very short-lived.
"Izzy came down and played on a track a couple weeks ago, that sounds great too. It was good to see him; it's been awhile. Our guitars together really do have a sound all their own.
"Besides having some friends of Eric Valentine's [producer] come down from Northern California and play cello and violin on a track, I haven't had any other guest musicians so far. Having Flea, Steven and Izzy play has been a real gas. There might be a couple more surprise musicians on this record I think.
"The movie I scored while I was writing songs for my record last summer, 'This Is Not A Movie', is in its final production stage and being shopped for distribution. I went to a closed screening of it at Warner Bros. a couple weeks ago. It's a really dark but funny movie; very indie and very raw. It really surprised me to hear/see it all put together. The score is awesome and almost entirely comprised of electric guitar. It gives the picture a distinct musical personality, which has many moods. Edward Furlong and Peter Coyote star in it, by the way, and are phenomenal. It's funny; Edward Furlong was teenage delinquent 'John Conner' being chased by the Terminator in 'Terminator 2'. His key scene was when he was escaping on his motorcycle to the tune of GN'R's 'You Could Be Mine'. Now he is staring in a movie that I did all the music for 18 years later.
"The Norway gig [at the Quart festival] happened and was a fucking blast. The band (Jason Bonham, John 5, Ted Andreadis and Franky Perez) was amazing and Ozzy, Fergie and Ronnie Wood were stellar, to say the least. But what really made the gig great was the crowd; they were pretty fucking fantastic. There is some talk of doing some more shows like that in the not-too-distant future; it's too good of a time.
"There's a lot of stuff coming up actually, all good. As it happens I will keep you up to date in as timely a fashion as I am capable."
Slash has been recording his solo CD with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne and AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows. Freese told MusicRadar.com that Iggy Pop, Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) of the BLACK EYED PEAS and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE) will also appear on the LP. Working songtitles include "We're All Gonna Die", "These Last Words", "Crucify The Dead" and "Beautiful, Dangerous".
In other news, Slash has revealed via Twitter that he "plays guitar on the theme song for [the new movie] 'Bruno'." He added that "there's a cameo of me, Snoop Dog, Sting, Chris Martin and Bono at the end" of the film.

Re: Slash album solo
Parmi les invités : Alice Cooper.
Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has confirmed to Australia's Undercover News that he will guest on the forthcoming solo album from VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash.
"I just finished writing a couple of songs for Slash's new album that is going to be coming out," Alice tells Undercover News. "He is working with a bunch of lead singers. It is sort of a nice idea of Slash and Alice, Slash and Iggy, Slash and Meat Loaf or whoever is going to be on it. It is a great idea."
Alice previously sang on the GUNS N' ROSES song "The Garden" from the "Use Your Illusion". Slash guest-starred on the track "Vengeance Is Mine" from Alice's last CD, "Along Came A Spider".

Re: Slash album solo
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has one final track left to record for his forthcoming solo album, which will be released in February/March under the "Slash & Friends" banner. "This song is really cool and the singer is amazing," Slash writes on his Twitter profile.
Slash has already recorded 18 songs for his upcoming solo LP, including "Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z), which will be released as a two-track CD single in Japan on November 11, also containing a version of the GN'R classic "Paradise City" (featuring CYPRESS HILL and Fergie [a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson] of the BLACK EYED PEAS).
Slash tracked most of the album with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Other confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne, AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE). The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (GOOD CHARLOTTE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and features additional appearances by ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea and former NIRVANA drummer and current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl.
Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland (who was dismissed in April 2008).

Legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) will release his first true solo album, simply entitled "Slash", in North America in April via EMI Label Services.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Slash on the 'Slash' project. EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution will be providing unique marketing and promotion services while working closely with Slash on creative ways to expose this great project to the consumer," said Dominic Pandiscia, SVP and General Manager, EMI Label Services and Caroline Distribution.
Ultimate Guitar has exclusively revealed the new album's artwork. Check it out below.
"Slash" track listing (guest vocalist listed in parenthesis):
01. Ghost (Ian Astbury)
02. Beautiful Dangerous (Fergie)
03. Nothing To Say (M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD)
04. Crucify The Dead (Ozzy Osbourne)
05. Promise (Chris Cornell)
06. By The Sword (Andrew Stockdale of WOLFMOTHER)
07. Doctor Alibi (Lemmy Kilmeister)
08. Saint Is A Sinner Too (Rocco De Luca)
09. Watch This (Dave Grohl/Duff McKagan)
10. I Hold On (Kid Rock)
11. Gotten (Adam Levine)
12. We're All Gonna Die (Iggy Pop)
13. Starlight (Myles Kennedy)
"Slash" was produced by Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and was completed with the rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.
"The idea was really simple in the beginning," said Slash. "These are all artists I wanted to work with — that I thought it would be amazing to do something creative and collaborative. And I was so impressed with what everyone brought to the table. They were all so committed to doing a good job. And we had a lot of fun making these songs."

Due to legal reasons, Slash's collaboration with BLACK EYED PEAS singer Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) on a new recording of the GUNS N' ROSES classic "Paradise City" (hear audio below), also featuring CYPRESS HILL, has had to be withdrawn from the limited-edition deluxe version of Slash's upcoming self-titled solo debut. Fans should note that a brand new track, "Back From Cali" (featuring Myles Kennedy) has now been added and that the exclusive "Baby Can't Drive" (featuring Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger) still remains.
Slash took to Twitter last fall to defend Fergie's vocal performance "Paradise City". A copy of the recording surfaced online last year while Slash was contemplating whether to include it on his new solo album. The former GUNS guitarist tweeted, "Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better (than) most dudes I know. She's a screamer at heart."
Slash recently released the first single from his upcoming solo album, a song called "By The Sword" featuring vocals from WOLFMOTHER's Andrew Stockdale. However, the initial choice for first single was "Crucify The Dead", with Ozzy Osbourne singing. Slash explained why the switch was made. "The problem with this record is, because I do have all guest singers, you run the risk of, you know, getting singles rights and interfering with the release of other people's records," he said. "So that's really what the issue was, is making sure that whatever single I was using wasn't sort of stepping on the toes of that artist's own record. And Ozzy's got a new record coming out."
Slash's album, his first official solo outing, is due out April 6.
The guitarist uses a different guest vocalist on each track, including Fergie, M. Shadows, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Lemmy Kilmister, Myles Kennedy, Iggy Pop and others.
Slash has also tapped Kennedy, lead vocalist in ALTER BRIDGE, as the singer for his upcoming solo tour, which will take place this spring. Slash's touring band will also appear at Ohio's Rock On The Range festival in May.
Slash has said in recent interviews that VELVET REVOLVER will regroup after he has toured his solo record to continue looking for a new singer.
