Metal Blade Records will release the "Rising From The Grave" box set from legendary Texas metallers HELSTAR, featuring remastered versions of the "A Distant Thunder" and "Nosferatu" albums. The package will also include the brand new DVD "Twas The Night Of A Hellish Xmas".
The first authorized live video recording by HELSTAR, the DVD was recorded at the Backstage Club in Houston, Texas on December 25, 1989 and it features original HELSTAR members James Rivera on vocals along with Larry Barragan and Jerry Abarca. It was mastered by Ty Tabor (KING'S X) and James Rivera.

Formed in Houston in the early '80s, HELSTAR cut its teeth playing backyard parties and small club gigs. It soon became apparent that HELSTAR had much more to offer then its contemporaries. Combat Records snapped up the band and released HELSTAR's debut, "Burning Star", in 1984. Next came "Remnants of War", followed by HELSTAR's breakthrough album, "A Distant Thunder", in 1988. The success of "A Distant Thunder" ultimately set up HELSTAR's most critically acclaimed album, 1989's "Nosferatu".
The "Rising From The Grave" box set will be released on July 5 in Europe (three days earlier in Germany).

Je crois que mon album préféré reste Remnants of War; Burning Star et Distand Thunder sont également bien "metal comme il faut" ; Nosferatu est le seul que je trouve assez difficile d'accés.

Intrinsèquement je pense que Distant Thunder est le meilleur, en revanche mon préféré est Burning Star malgré ses défauts de jeunesse (le chant de Rivera notamment). Remnants of war est celui que j'aime le moins (mais il est bien quand même). Je parle que des albums des 80's, j'aime pas l'album de reformation.
Bonne idée ce coffret pour ceux qui n'ont pas ces albums. Fait chier pour le dvd, mais bon si le son est pourri pas de regret.
