En fait au début j'étais sceptique, je m'attendais à un truc pas terrible ....
.... et apres plusieurs écoutes, ben finalement je trouve ça archi-pourri.
Comme quoi faut jamais se fier à ses premières impressions.

J'ai écouté l'album sur le myspace officiel, mais je ne sais pas trop quoi en penser.
Des passages bien accrocheurs dans la première partie de l'album, mais aussi d'autres qui m'ont sacrément ennuyé et un côté très surproduit/surfait, donc...

Bout d'interview au passage :

Jane Stevenson of the QMI Agency recently conducted an interview with legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne. A few excerpts from the chat follow below.

On taking on Jesus Christ in a new song called "Diggin' Me Down":

"That's what I've always done [never backed down from controversy over his 40-year career with BLACK SABBATH and as a solo artist], and why should I change it now?

"What that (song asks) is, 'How bad does it have to get before (Jesus returns)? If he's not coming now, what the fuck have we got to do? A nuclear war every hour? I mean, how many people have died for their religion and how many still are? I'm going to Israel this year. I'm quite interested to go because (there are) Christians and Muslims and Jewish people all in the same area. And if they can't get on, what chance has anybody got? Too many religions but only one God."

On being raised Anglican in Birmingham, England as one of six children:

"I wasn't religious in the sense that I went to church all the time. I'd go now and again ... But Sundays were boring back then, there was nothing to do. So I could go to the Sunday school, just to do something. But most of my friends were Catholics and I used to get pissed off 'cause they'd have holidays from school when I had to go. And I used to get really upset about that."

On the departure of guitarist Zakk Wylde:

"Zakk was just helping me out for a while, he's got his own band, he doesn't need me. He's got BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. He's a road dog. He's on the road all the time. When I told him I wanted to get a permanent guitar player, he said, 'Go.' We haven't fallen out, at all."

On his new guitarist, Gus G.:

"He's a great little guitar player. He just stood out. What really impressed me about him is he plays all the old stuff as it was. You get guys come in, and go, 'It'd be better if you played it in this key.' People get too clever and they give themselves a boot out of the position. You get Gus along and he played as it was. I think he did a good job on this album but I think on the next album I'm really excited to work with him. Because (Canadian producer) Kevin (Churko) and I basically put the foundation down, and he just filled the holes."

On whether Gus G. will be the permanent guitarist for his band:

"You never know. You live with them more than you do your family when you're touring. I've had some wild (experiences). I've had people suddenly found God halfway through the tour. 'Oh, God, here we go.' 'I don't like inverted crucifixes on a T-shirt.' And I go, 'Are we a fashion show or what?' I've had it all over the years. I've had a lot of crazy stuff."

Ce terrible OZZY ! Il a fait tellement de trucs bizarres, et souvent dans l'outrance, que j'ai tendance à (presque) tout lui pardonner. Il est capable de tout, du meilleur comme du pire . Mais j'ai un faible pour cet artiste, je n'oublie pas son travail au sein du SAB' et il nous a tout de même sorti des f*cking good albums.
En ce qui concerne le dernier, il ne me surprend pas du tout, et c'est dommage. Une impression de déjà entendu. J'aime bien le single ainsi que "Fearless". Mais pour qqu'un qui découvre Ozzy, ça peut être un album tout à fait honorable.

Sinon je suis assez surpris en bien par l'album en lui-même, y a de bonnes compos avec des melodies qu'on retient facilement. Le jeu du nouveau guitariste me semble plus varie que celui de Zakk Wylde, avec notamment pas mal de parties acoustiques bien sympa.
Si le Black Rain que j'ai completement zappe est du même acabit alors je suis aussi preneur

C'est clair que le principal point positif est qu'on n'a plus des harmoniques toutes les 5 secondes. Même s'il y en a encore.
Je vais l'écouter un peu plus pour voir.

Ozzy parle des différences entre Zakk Wylde et Gus G, et de l'alcoolisme de Wylde :

Ozzy Osbourne was interviewed for the August 2010 issue of Guitar World magazine, which features the former BLACK SABBATH singer and his new guitarist, Gus G. (real name: Kostas Karamitroudis), on the cover. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Guitar World: Was there any material [on "Scream"] left over from [2007's] "Black Rain" that Zakk [Wylde, former OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist] had worked on?

Ozzy: No. Zakk came in at the beginning of the new one, but he was still drinking. When you're drunk and somebody else is drinking, it's okay, but when you're sober and somebody's blabbering away in your ear, it ain't. I mean, Zakk's a great player and I love him. I love his playing. But in the end, it came to the point that I had to get another guitarist. Not because I fell out with Zakk, but it was hard for me to be around someone who is actively drinking. I heard he's not drinking anymore. I don't know if that's true or not.

Guitar World: How are things between you and Zakk?

Ozzy: I would never slag the guy off. We're good friends, and we're like family. I feel that the whole thing was partly my fault, because Zakk was doing his own band, his own tours and helping me out when he got back. On the last tour he was with his band opening the show and my band closing the show, and that's really hard. So I'd been thinking of getting a replacement for a while, but I was procrastinating.

Guitar World: In one interview you said your band was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY.

Ozzy: Very much so! But that's not a surprise because Zakk is BLACK LABEL. I love his playing; he's one of the greats. But it was the drink getting the better of him. I couldn't watch him die. In one sick respect, it was good for me to see, because that's what I was like, and worse. Believe me, if I started drinking now you'd think, "Fuck, this is bollocks! I've got to get out of here." That's how I felt around Zakk toward the end.

Guitar World: What made you pick Gus?

Ozzy: There was something about him that shone for me. He's a great player, and I'm looking forward to recording something from scratch with him, because most of the groundwork was done on the album by the time he arrived. There's a part of Gus that I don't know. I've never worked with him full time on the road. I've done a couple of gigs with him in Los Angeles for a charity thing. When you work and live with someone on the road, you always find out some weird shit about them.

Guitar World: How are Gus and Zakk different?

Ozzy: They're worlds apart! Zakk is established and successful in his own right. I said to Gus, "You've got big shoes to fill." I really hope the fans give him a chance and remember that Zakk was like Gus at one point he was a new boy.

On dit que la première impression est souvent la bonne, pour ma part j'ai l'impression qu'il s'est laché, voire fait plaisir et sa ce ressent dans l'interprétation des vocaux.

Bien meilleur que "Down to earth" (ca c'etait pas dur...), y a de bonnes compos, les grattes sont percutantes, bref du meilleur que ce à quoi je m'attendais !

Pareil, même si on peut se poser des questions sur la voie d'ozzy (par rapport au live ), cet album est excellent
