Les vétérans du metal US mélodique et épique devraient sortir le premier album live de leur carrière d'ici la fin de l'année, avec en bonus des titres live de 1986...

OMEN has plans to release a new live CD by year's end, which will feature live recordings from the "Eternal Black Dawn" lineup, as well as bonus live tracks from 1986 featuring the original lineup (with original vocalist JD Kimball, who passed away in 2003). After the live release, the band plans to hit the studio and record a new album which will see a release sometime in mid-2007.

Il y a un titre en écoute sur leur myspace. Et je viens de découvrir qu'il y avait eu un important changement de line-up en visionnant un vidéo du KIT X. Pas étonnant que leur ancien myspace soit devenu celui de Phantom-X (le groupe des deux qui ont quitté).

Sympa d'entendre "Deathrider" en 2008, mais j'ai un peu mal avec le nouveau chanteur, la mélodie ressort moins sur ce classique du groupe.

Again, thanks so much for your support. It means the world. And please know that I too wait with anticipation for the new OMEN record. It features Danny White's stellar drumming of course and many of you have already heard new OMEN singer, Matt Story, on the song "Voices" that was posted on myspace a few years ago. I also, much to my surprise, got to hear some of Matt's recorded vocals on one of the new songs I was tracking called "Chaco Canyon", at Kenny's studio when they popped up in the mix unexpectedly late one night. He's a good singer, he's been a great friend to Kenny for years and years, he's very familiar with the OMEN songs and I'm certain he won't let Kenny, or us OMEN fans down. I, like everyone else, hope for a new OMEN record worthy of JD Kimball's legacy.

Je viens d'écouter le morceau! Pas trop convaincu, moi non plus, une impression bizarre...Le morceau me semble influencé par les groupes d'Epic Metal qui ont pourtant été influencés par Omen. Quant au chanteur, j'aimerais bien l'entendre sur In the Arena ou Teeth of the Hydra pour mieux juger son approche vocale.

Greece's Rock Overdose conducted an interview with Kenny Powell recently, the founder and guitarist of the legendary band OMEN. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

Rockoverdose.gr: You're preparing a new album Hammer damage. Is it getting finished and when it will be released;
Powell: "After several delays, I think everything is back on track with the new record, and I look for it to be released early
next spring."

Rockoverdose.gr: How will it sound?
Powell: "I have been trying to write everything from the heart for this one, every time I listen to outside influences it ends up being something I am ultimately disappointed in. So it should definitely sound like a traditional Omen record."

Rockoverdose.gr: What is the current line-up and are you feeling that it'll be more stable now?
Powell: "Matt Story - vocals, Andy Haas - bass, original drummer Steve Wittig, Kenny Powell - guitars, producer, engineer, manager, etc. Nothing would make me happier than for this to be the final line-up for Omen, but I am a realist and given the lack of resources at this level, and the knowledge that we all have personal responsibilities, changes are always possible. After having my heart crushed many times and discovering that not everyone shares my passion for Omen, I am resolved to the fact that nothing is permanent. If that happens, I will forge on, regardless of what it takes!

Rockoverdose.gr: Are you gonna tour for the promotion of the new album?
Powell: "My plan is to tour until we fall over in promotion of this new record!!"

Rockoverdose.gr: Do you believe that you’re starting a new period for Omen;
Powell: "Hammer Damage is the record that I have been waiting to make since 1987 as the follow-up to The Curse. I would not call it a new period, but the continuation of the original vision."

Cult heavy metal band OMEN will release a rare collector's album, "Into The Arena", just in time for the holidays via DSN Music. The re-digitized project will include eleven previously unreleased live and demo recordings from the mid-1980s when OMEN broke onto the metal scene. OMEN founder and guitarist Kenny Powell sifted through his archives to find these rare gems. Powell wanted to release rare recordings of live performances of the original and late OMEN singer J.D. Kimball, who is featured on such classics as "Death Rider", "The Curse" and "Battle Cry". The release chronicles the veteran metal group throughout the 1980s, following the death of Kimball, who was replaced by Coburn Pharr, and finally Matt Story.

"Into The Arena" will feature demo and rehearsal tracks of popular OMEN singles such as "Ruby Eyes (Of the Serpent)" and "Warning of Danger" as well as other rare tracks for OMEN fans.

"Into The Arena" is scheduled for a worldwide digital release Christmas week, and will be available via online/mobile stores such as Amazon.com, iTunes, Rhapsody.com, Sprint, Verizon, Spotify, iHeartRadio.com and hundreds more.
