CHIMAIRA - "The Age of Hell"

Pas que ça concerne grand monde mais ce groupe dépote et cet album mérite donc un topic.
Nouvel album, prévu pour le mois d'aout avec un nouveau line up.~

Two brand new songs from Cleveland, Ohio metallers CHIMAIRA — "Trigger Finger" and "Born In Blood" (featuring a guest appearance by Phil Bozeman of WHITECHAPEL) — have been made available through iTunes. Both cuts come off CHIMAIRA's new album, entitled "The Age of Hell", which will be released August 26 in Germany and August 29 in the United Kingdom, Australia and the rest of Europe via Long Branch Records. The CD will be made available in North America through eOne Music.

Je ne suis pas déçu. C'est du Chimaira et c'est tout. Perso j'aime pas mal

La semaine d'écoute gratuite est finie

Je suis en vacances là donc je peux pas me l'écouter.

Bon, mon frère me l'a ramené en version gratuite incluse dans le dernier numéro de Metal Hammer, donc j'ai enfin pu me l'écouter.
Je dois dire qu'à la première écoute, c'est terrible terrible.
Beaucoup trop de chant clair à mon goût. Mark Hunter tente visiblement de faire son Layne Stayley malgré le fait qu'il n'est pas un super chanteur et tente de cacher ça avec des effets assez indigestes.
Sinon, mon principal reproche serait qu'il y ait un certain manque de cohérence sur ce disque, trop de varitété peut-être. Il n'y a pas un son global pour le définir. Par exemple, "Impossibility of reason" était bien in your face, "Chimaira" était plus mur avec des compos plus longues et travaillés et "The Infection" était entièrement centré sur la lenteur et la lourdeur. Là, ça pars un peu dans les sens et ça rend un produit final assez molasson je dois dire.

Cependant, il y a quelques titres qui arrachent bien, comme le tout premier, "Born In Blood" et quelques autres.
Il faut que je me le réecoute pour me forger un véritable avis, n'ayant adhéré au dernier qu'après moultes écoutes.

Très mauvaise nouvelle pour les fans du groupe (qui ne sont pas biens nombreux ici, je le sais bien )

Les deux gratteux viennent de se barrer. Ce qui fait que Mark Hunter est desormais le seul membre d'origine. Je sais pas si le groupe va splitter mais je vois pas trop comment il peut continuer sans les 2 compositeurs principaux. Vraiment un temps de merde pou lemetal mais bon tout le monde s'en parce que Black Sabbath s'est reformé. Youpi!

I would like to start off by thanking our fans for a great tour. This last run was a blast, and truly the most fun we’ve had in a long while. The energy from the audience was exactly what we needed, and a welcoming return. Thank you guys!
Unfortunately, as much fun as we were having, behind the scenes we were aware of some unfortunate realities that prevented us from “living the dream” and having the time of our lives. We had another bomb to drop on the fans.
Early in July we were informed that Rob Arnold and Matt DeVries would be leaving Chimaira at the end of 2011. Of course this was a huge blow, but there were no hard feelings.
We understand that life invades art, everything runs its course, and we have to take different paths.We respect their decision and wish them only the best. We made heavy metal history together and that is all that matters at the end of the day.Chimaira Christmas 12 will be their last show, and we’ve been preparing to make it one that you’ll never forget.I would personally like to thank Rob and Matt for all of their hard work, years of service to Chimaira, amazing songs, and for their friendship. Together we built something special that will remain for generations to come. I’m looking forward to spending another 5 weeks on the road with two of the best (and criminally underrated) guitarists in modern metal.What’s next for Chimaira in 2012? More on that very soon.Rather than try and make light of unpleasant news, or downplay this by hyping up a new line-up, let’s take a few to honor Rob and Matt.My favorite solo of Rob’s is on The Heart Of It All and my favorite riff of Matt’s is The Dehumanizing Process.
