Pagan's Mind (prog metal, Norvège)

Je ne sais pas si vous êtes au courant, mais, un nouvel album de Pagan's Mind est sorti le 16 mai dernier. Il s'intitule 'Enigmatic : Calling' et est très proche de ce que faisait Queenrÿche à l'époque de 'Operation : Mindcrime', et ce, à plusieurs niveaux : en effet, le nouvel album des norvégiens est leur 3éme album et est conceptuel, tout comme 'Operation : Mindcrime' qui fût un album conceptuel et aussi le 3éme album de Geoff Tate et de ses sbires...'Enigmatic' est un album à la production très claire et très progressif avec la plupart des titres qui ne descendent pas en dessous des 5 minutes. Encore un point commun avec 'Operation'.
Néanmoins, au niveau des compositions, le groupe de Nils K. Rue s'éloigne du groupe à Geoff Tate : plus heavy, plus thrash, on ressent une certaine volonté d'évoluer et de s'éloigner de l'héritage des ricains. C'est d'autant plus clair sur les titres les plus longs et, notamment, sur les 2éme et 6éme titres.
Un album que j'ai chroniqué sur Spirit Of Metal (il a reçu 20/20).

Ecoutez-le, il en vaut vraiment la peine.

J'aime bien ce que fait Pagan's mind, le precedent etait tres bon et le petit nouveau a pas mal d'atouts.Gros sons,morceaux complexes...le seul problème a mon niveau c'est que la voix du chanteur je commence a la trouver limite...son timbre est parfois (souvent ???!!!) énervant/saoulant...
Avec un autre chanteur ils auraient sortis un excellent album.
Par contre je ne "vois" aucun rapport avec Queensryche...que ce soit les compos ou autres.Sorry.

Tiens moi aussi j'adore cet album, du "vrai" prog sans démonstrations à la noix à mon avis, par contre comme True Belief je ne vois vraiment pas le rapport avec Queensrÿche, enfin c'est juste une de leurs influences parmi 36 autres.

Pour le chanteur j'aime bien sa voix à la base, le seul truc qui me dérange c'est qu'on dirait qu'il ne module pas des masses et sonne toujours un peu pareil, un peu froid, et il n'articule pas toujours très bien non plus. M'enfin, puissant quand même.
Musicalement y'a vraiment des plans de fou! Et pas que techniquement, c'est vraiment riche en mélodies.

Pagan's Mind est un groupe particulièrement intéressant à mes yeux (ou du moins à mes z' oreilles )


( je sais que c'est inutile mais c'est au cas ou .... et quand la migration sera fini ... en 2032 )

Les musiciens semblent véritablement (sur)doués et leur Metal/Prog tout en étant très technique possède un vrai feeling , sans tomber dans le travers de la démonstration stérile .(En plus la production est très soignée et le son des 2 derniers albums vraiment excellent) .
Bref , pour moi > c'est ni chiant ni prétentieux , juste du très bon.

La voix de Nils K. Rue est vraiment particulière , reconnaissable aisément , entre le sublime et l' horripilant.
En tout cas j' aime bien quand même.
Je pense que l' analogie avec Queensryche vient d' abord de sa façon de chanter "à la Geoff Tate" .Du moins sur certaines phases de son chant.


J'hésite encore entre Enigmatic Calling & Celestian Entrance ....Même si j' ai quand même une préférence pour Celestian Entrance

concernant leur ex guitariste Thorstein Aaby





"On the night of 24th of july,our dear friend Thorstein passed on.

After a long time of illness,things took a turn for the worse the last weeks.

Thorstein has been a respected member of the local musicenviroment since the mid-eighties,later nationwide
and also outside ofnorwegian borders-all well deserved.

Well known for his skills with the guitar as well as his easy going personality - he was the kind of guy who got more and more friends for each gig he did.

Thorstein did two albums while he was in Pagan's Mind; "Infinity Divine" and "Celestial Entrance",and
after parting with the band Thorstein quickly moved on and joined Smalltown Rockets.

Smalltown Rockets appeared on the norwegian KISS-tribute ;"God's of Thunder", with the track "C'mon and Love Me".

The last couple of years Thorstein has handled the guitar-duties in the Mötley Crüe tribute-band Wild Side.
Wild Side also recorded some of their own material.

This is a sad,sad day and all our thoughts goes out to Ingvild and the rest of Thorsteins family,and also to his big network of friends and fans.

Rest in peace,dear friend.

We will always miss you,and we will never forget you."

PAGAN'S MIND has just completed work on its first DVD, to be released by the band's own label and distributed by Indie Distribution. A street date will be announced shortly.

The DVD will be released in three different versions: an audio-CD and -DVD containing footage/recording of PAGAN'S MIND's November 1, 2008 show at Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo; a double DVD with the Rockefeller show as well as a disc with bonus material; and a limited-to-1000-copies hand-numbered three-disc version with the audio CD, the two DVDs — including more bonus material — plus an autographed photo and a guitar pick.

Vraiment hate d'entendre/voir le résultat.

j'ai découvert ce groupe il y a seulement 2 mois(en apprenant qu'ils allaient faire la premiere partie de strato ici).vraiment une bonne surprise.du coup ce dvd risque de m'intéresser.

DETAILS:
Norway's Pagan's Mind proudly announces a worldwide collaboration with
SPV/Steamhammer for the future, commencing with the band's upcoming
album to be released on May 20 in Germany, May 23 for the rest of Europe
and in June for USA/Canada. The fifth studio album from the hard-hitting
Melodic Metal outfit will be named Heavenly Ecstasy, and to promote the
album the band will embark on a tour of UK and Benelux.
Guitarist and producer Jørn Viggo Lofstad says: "After considering
offers from various labels, we decided to be a part of the new SPV
family. Signing with such a respected label gave us the spark to come up
with what we think is the most cohesive album we have done, and probably
our best offering so far. We can't wait to get back in action and
present these songs to you all."

Groupe incroyable!! Une vrai maîtrise musicale!! Le premier que j'ai écouté et qui m'a laissé sur le cul c'était "engmatic: calling", une claque!! Ma foi, c'est un album sur lequel je vais vite me pencher. Jolie pochette!! Merci pour la news..
