GOTTHARD : le nouveau chanteur et Firebirth

Il s'appelle Nic Maeder et a 41 ans.

Swiss hard rock veterans GOTTHARD have released the following statement:

"Dear GOTTHARD fans — it gives us great pleasure to announce that we have found a new singer. The successor to Steve Lee, who was killed in a tragic accident last year, is Nic Maeder and is Swiss-born. Nic was born in 1971 in Lausanne, lived in Melbourne, Australia and grew up between Switzerland and 'Down Under.'"

Commented guitarist Leo Leoni: "Nic not only has a great voice and is a fantastic musician, but we also have a great person in our midst. We can rock again at last."

Added the band: "During the months after the decision to carry on was taken, we received a huge amount of applications from all over the world; it was really overwhelming!

"At this point we would really like to thank everyone, especially the candidates, to whom we were not able to send a personal message.

"Thank you for your understanding and we wish all of you lots of luck and success in the future!"

Stated drummer Hena Habegger: "The search took a long time but it was clear to all of us when we met Nic that he was the right guy. With him we can enjoy the music again and celebrate new success. I'm really happy that we are continuing."

The final decision for Nic Maeder was unanimous.

"We noticed straight away that the chemistry, both musically and personally, was right. For us, he is the new member of the family," said guitarist Freddy Scherer.

Nic Maeder, who besides his singing position also plays guitar and piano, is a very talented and creative person. His songwriting ability also means he fits perfectly into the GOTTHARD family. He is the missing piece in the puzzle.

"Music has been my companion all my life and always was an important part of it. It is a great feeling to be able to share in the birth of a song and to see how it keeps growing. I can experience that with GOTTHARD and it makes me happy. I am making music with friends," says Nic Maeder.

The band concluded: "Of course, you can write a lot about a new singer, but in the end there is nothing better than seeing and hearing him sing. We therefore decided to produce a song plus video [see below] as a thank you to our fans, which can be downloaded free of charge. It is dedicated to all our fans who didn't lose their faith and trust in GOTTHARD. You have supported us with all your strength during the past months. Thank you so much!"

Said bassist Marc Lynn: "With Nic, we have taken the right decision for GOTTHARD. A lot of courage is needed to step into the footsteps of such a great singer. For that, Nic has earned our respect. Let's never forget this and make Nic welcome in the family. We are in the studio at the moment and are working with renewed energy and enthusiasm on songs for a new album, which will be released in the spring of 2012."

Steve Lee was killed on October 5, 2010 in what has been described as a freak road accident in Nevada.

Belle voix, qui semble finalement assez proche de celle de Steve Lee, même si ça va pas être facile de passer après lui!

Il a une bonne bouille et sa voix semble assez proche de celle de Steeve Lee. Après Ganash a raison le live sera important, même si j'attends de voir la qualité des compos du prochain album parce que ce morceau

Sa voix est tellement proche de celle de Steve Lee que je pensais que c'était lui et qu'on nous ressortait donc un vieux clip... Au niveau de la voix je ne pense pas que ça changera, reste à voir sur scène. ça va être un sacré challenge de remplacer Steve...

Nouveau morceau largement dispensable !! Sans aucun intérêt, lent , du tres mauvais gotthard... Il eut été plus raisonnable d'attendre le nouvel album avec des morceaux mieux composés plutôt que de nous servir cette soupe qui nous laisse avec plein d'interrogations.

Le morceau est pas fabuleux mais pas naze non plus.
Voix assez proche de Lee, je ne me fais pas de soucis pour les titres enlevés, il a la puissance apparemment.
Par contre, sur les anciens titres plein de feeling, ca sera le gros test, parce que l'emotion ne se travaille pas, alors j'attend les "Heaven" ou "One life one soul"...

M'enfin, bon choix apparemment.

GOTTHARD met la touche finale à son nouvel album, "Firebirth", prévu pour le 1er juin chez Nuclear Blast Records.
Le CD est produit dans les propres studios du groupe, le Yellow House à Lugano, en Suisse, avec le guitariste /compositeur Leo Leoni et Paul Lani à la console, qui a déjà travaillé avec GOTTHARD sur plusieurs albums précédents comme "G-Spot" et "Homerun".

"Firebirth" marquera les débuts du nouveau chanteur de GOTTHARD ; Nic Maeder, né a Lausanne et vivant à Melbourne, il a grandi entre la Suisse et "Down Under".

Y a un Track by Track sur youtube. Ben je suis vraiment sur le cul. C'est pas les deux premiers mais ça envoie quand même. Le côté Hard Rock assez burné revient quand même bien. Il manque juste une ou deux chansons plus rapide en plus de la dernière. En tout cas, la première chanson reflète vraiment pas l'ambiance de l'album. J'ai vraiment hâte d'avoir l'album dans mes mains pour l'écouter en entier.

Comme ça leur est souvent arrivé, Gotthard sont en tête des charts suisses :

"Firebirth", the new album from Swiss hard rockers GOTTHARD, entered the chart in the band's home country at position No. 1 — the 14th time that a GOTTHARD CD has topped the Swiss chart in the group's career so far. In addition, the album landed at No. 9 on the German Media Control chart.

Commented GOTTHARD guitarist Leo Leoni: "We are really happy with this success. After the past difficult time, 'Firebirth' is like a new beginning for us and is also album number 1 of a new GOTTHARD chapter.

Ben moi j'aime vraiment bien au final. Je trouve les chansons efficaces. Après, Nick Maeder chante bien, mais il a pas le même feeling Steve Lee. La musique aussi manque un poil de spontanéité. Mais je trouve ça quand même vraiment sympa.

Attention, je remets pas en cause le nouveau chanteur qui est bien bon.
Non c'est les compos qui me paraissent moins inspirées.
Pour TOUS les albums precedents, je retenais une grande majorité de titres aux trois premieres ecoutes, ayant le grand frisson de suite pour plusieurs morceaux.

Là ce n'est pas le cas immediatement. Mais je continue mes ecoutes

agréablement surpris pour ma part! 'fin "surpris" je sais pas si c'est le mot puisque c'est du Gotthard pur jus...
mais avec la mort de Steve Lee j'avais également enterré le groupe, au final j'avais tort.
Il est vraiment pas mal ce disque, la voix est très bonne, juste assez différent pour donner un peu de fraîcheur. Après c'est clair que ce n'est pas une révolution musicale, Gotthard a pondu des meilleurs morceaux, n'empêche qu'une grande majorité des titres peuvent sans soucis s'insérer dans une setlist. Bref, un bon disque de Classic Hard Rock
