Bientôt un nouvel EP, avec une reprise de Cirith Ungol, une de Manilla Road, et un nouveau morceau chanté en français. ça va être assez folklo, vu la voix particulière du chanteur

Germany's SOLEMNITY will be issuing a new EP, "Another Bloody Sabbath", in April 2006. The track listing for the CD is as follows:

03. What Does It Take (CIRITH UNGOL cover)
04. Dreamtime (instrumental)

A strictly limited edition vinyl picture dics will also be made available.

SOLEMNITY's cover of CIRITH UNGOL's "What Does It Take" will also be included on the first "official" tribute to CIRITH UNGOL, entitled "One Foot in Fire" (Solemnity Music). The album is tentatively scheduled to be released in January/February2006 on regular CD and a special limited 12-inch picture vinyl edition with inlay. SOLEMNITY's third album, "Shockwave of Steel", was released earlier in the year.

Ils collectionnent les reprises récemment avec une cover pour le moins particulière du célèbre "One Rode to Asa Bay" de BATHORY, mais cela ne sortira qu'en vinyle :

Germany's SOLEMNITY recently teamed up with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra to record a classical version of BATHORY's "One Rode To Asa Bay". The song was recorded at the Ulmer Münster Cathedral in Ulm, Germany, which is said to be the highest Catholic church on earth. "THIS was the place to call on the ancient Gods and show Quorthon and all the Ases in Valhalla that they triumphed at last," the band said in a statement. "You will hear the original medieval church organ, string quartets, female and male choirs, timpanis, mouthdrums and things you can't imagine. All LIVE from the Ulmer Münster on 64-tracks!!!!!!! The song will be released early 2007 as a 10" vinyl ONLY release with LIZZY BORDEN's 'There will be Blood Tonight' on the flipside."

Un nouvel album pour bientôt


Germany's SOLEMNITY has revealed the cover artwork and track listing of its upcoming album, "Lords of the Damned", due later in the year.

SOLEMNITY's current lineup is as follows:

ou comment plagier une pochette de Manowar et Doro d'un seul coup...

J'avais pas fait gaffe mais je suis positivement surpris par le choix audacieux des 2 reprises. Au lieu d'un choix trop évident genre Cirith Ungol, ce cher Sven a pris des groupes (chrétiens tous les deux, ironiquement) très éloignés du registre de Solemnity et très éloignés entre eux. Très bons choix de chansons en plus, surtout "Tower".

Finalement ça va me manquer Solemnity, autant y'a pas grand chose qui m'accroche dans le "warrior metal" de nos jours, autant eux avaient un petit grain de folie et de décalage horrifique qui me plaisait bien, du moins sur les 2 premiers albums.
Je repense aussi à leur version française, "Hache de Guerre", pas spécialement leur meilleur titre dans le fond mais aussi incompréhensible que mémorable.

Fichtre, je dois me pencher sur ce maintenant défunt groupe, ils ont même repris One Rode to Asa Bay de Batte au riz!
