Harry of the Minneapolis, Minnesota radio station 93X recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen of Danish/American metal rock 'n' rollers VOLBEAT . You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

VOLBEAT has released the video for "Cape Of Our Hero", the first single from the Danish band's upcoming album, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies". The song has just hit rock radio, while the clip tells the story of a young man who looks back at his youth and remembers his father as the most heroic figure in his life. Poulsen told The Pulse Of Radio that the song was very personal to him. "I lost my father four, five years ago and I believe that every man in this universe, you know, they have their heroes and most of us are looking at our dad as a big hero," he said. "And so, of course, I'm singing about a little boy who lost his father, and then at the same time he loses his belief in his superheroes."

"Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies" will be released on April 9.

Former ANTHRAX member Rob Caggiano, who was a producer on the new disc, recently joined the band as its new guitarist. He replaces guitarist Thomas Bredahl, who was given his walking papers in November 2011.

The new disc follows up 2010's "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven", which featured three No. 1 rock radio hits, "A Warrior's Call", "Still Counting" and "Heaven Nor Hell".

VOLBEAT is currently on a spring tour of North America.

J'aime bien le morceau avec le King

Ecouté 1 fois pour l'instant, il demande à être de nouveau écouté, Album moins accessible car beaucoup de changement de rythme et de style....mais il y a des choses intéressantes comme le duo avec le King par exemple mais, je sais pas ce que fou les artistes en ce moment à nous dégoter des albums qui n'en finissent pas, 14 morceaux ca me paraît trop long...

Mieux vaut 8 ou 10 titres complètement aboutis que 7 titres bien et 7 titres moyen+...

Enfin, à récouter tout de même...

Bon, il faut l'apprivoiser un peu le nouveau Volbeat (3 écoutes en ce qui me concerne) mais au final, c'est un très bon cru, beaucoup de travail dans la composition des morceaux, il y a des morceaux plus accessible afin d'attirer une plus large population et des morceaux plus rentré dedans avec de très bonnes guitares, jamais Volbeat n'avait été aussi Heavy par moment...

Absolument rien a redire sur l'album hormis tout de même et je ne change pas ce point, je trouve que 14 morceaux , c'est trop long, 10 me paraît plus appropriée.

Au hellfest, pour finir le festival , ça risque d être assez surprenant je pense!

Aie, moi qui viens de poser sur cet album vos commentaires ne me rassurent pas trop. Après je ne connais de Volbeat que son passage au Wacken l'été dernier, donc je n'ai pas d'à - priori.

en tous cas comme le Black Album ça cartonnes dans les charts...N°1 en Allemagne, Autriche, Suisse, Norvège et Danemark et de bon classements ailleurs.

Connais pas bien ce groupe, ce que j'ai entendu me faisait penser à du Metallica période Load en plus énergique... j'ai vu sur scène dans un Sonisphere, c'était pas tété mais le public avait l'air d'aimer.

Faudra quand même que j'essaie sur disque à l'occasion.

VOLBEAT Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies - Tour Edition

Red eyes are a current issue with the Volbeat camp. One reason could well be that Volbeat have been constantly on the road since 2010 when their eponymous ‘Beyond Hell, Above Heaven’ album was released, while the second reason for the redness probably has to do with the band members rubbing their eyes in disbelief since the release of their fifth album ‘Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies’ in April. The album was a huge success from the get-go and has added several chapters to “the tale of Volbeat.”

‘Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies’ hit No. 1 spot in more than five countries around the world, including their home country Denmark and in Germany where the album in its first week sold over 50,000 copies, and in America where it landed at number nine in the main Billboard album chart!

In the months that have passed since the release of ‘Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies’ the four Volbeat gentlemen have been almost constantly on the road with their wide-ranging mix of rock and roll, heavy metal, rockabilly, country added prairie dust and south-western tinged romance, including two tours of the U.S. and a summer tour where the band headlined Europe's biggest festivals.

Effectivement aux premières écoutes, je trouvais ce nouveau Volbeat mollasson et peu excitant, mais il y' a eu un déclic et depuis je le ré-écoute assez régulièrement avec toujours beaucoup de plaisir.

Il y' a au moins 4-5 titres qui sont tout sauf chiant (Room 24, The Hangman's Body Count, Dead But Rising, l'énorme Black Bart, etc).

Vous vous contentez de peu les gars : 4 ou 5 titres pas chiants sur 14 morceaux.

Perso, un bon album, c'est minimum 80% de bonnes chansons, sinon ça vire.


Sinon, vous saviez que Volbeat c'est le nom d'un Pokémon ?

Mon propos c'est que 1/3 de l'album n'a pour moi rien de chiant (ce sont des titres assez heavy, pas ceux ayant les mélodies les plus prononcées ou les parties les plus accessibles), en réalité, si ce n'est 2/3 titres que je trouve un peu faible, cet album est très bon à mon goût.

Je comprendrais que l'on trouve certains titres plus mélodiques et 'faciles' chiants (je les apprécie la plupart), mais dans le cas de ce dernier Volbeat, un tiers de l'opus n'a rien de chiant, on peut lui reprocher des choses mais pas cette caractéristique.

Je serais curieux de découvrir Volbite. Est-ce que ce dernier album est une bonne carte de visite pour faire découvrir ce groupe à un fan de Liege Lord? Ou alors faut-il essayer avec un album plus ancien?
