Greg Christian n'avait pas l'air très frais sur la dernière tournée US d'après certains échos que j'ai lus, peut-être a-t-il des problèmes de santé?

Et le groupe a fait des siennes lors d'un concert. Après avoir exigé un soundcheck imprévu qui a duré plus d'une heure, l'heure du début de leur show a ainsi été décalé d'une heure, ce qui n'a pas plus à Chuck Billy qui a demandé à son crew de débrancher purement et simplement le matos de la première partie locale après 2 morceaux. En signe de protestation la quasi totalité du public est resté assis pendant tout le show de Testament qui après avoir vu Chuck Billy demander au public un"do you want more heavy metal"?" resté sans réponse, a simplement quitté la scène au bout de 10 morceaux...et la première partie est revenue jouer!

Le groupe s'excuse platement :

San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have released the following statement:

"As TESTAMENT returns from our first trip to Indonesia, a country we've looked forward to visiting for many years, it is with deep disappointment that our performance didn't turn out as planned.

"While our experience in this great land had been nothing but wonderful from the time our first plane first touched down — from the warm hospitality of our fans, local staff and others to whom we are grateful, to being honored by the mayor and the press shortly before appearing in front of 50,000 fans at Kukar Rockin' Fest 2014 — things went awry only at the moment we were scheduled to hit the stage. That's when the support act directly before us began their set. Normally this would not be a big issue — rock'n'roll shows don't always run on time as everyone knows — but in this case, there was a serious problem: we had a flight to catch in just a few hours. The flight was from Balikpapan Airport, several hours from Tengarrong (the location of the concert) which required several hours driving over rugged terrain. Making matters worse, several pieces of luggage had never arrived and these needed to picked up in Jakarta before we could board our connecting flights. Missing our connecting flights in Jarkata would have caused the entire band and crew to miss our further connecting flights home (after nearly a month on tour) followed by a trip to Mexico City's Hell Heaven Fest within three days of arrival back to the U.S. So in order to play our full set and be sure we made this flight, an attempt was made to play our set on time, with the support act following us. The local stage managers, while well intentioned, did not seem to grasp the urgency of the situation as the support act (POWER METAL) continued to play and we watched our set time disappearing.

"When our singer, Chuck Billy, came out and attempted to address the support band and audience, he was not understood. Regretfully, this led to a minor confrontation with the support act who only stopped playing once their gear was finally turned off by our crew (for which they responded by dousing water on one of our own amplifiers). While this situation was interpreted as the headliner being disrespectful to the local band, that was not the intention. Not helping these miscommunications was the language barrier for which no one can be blamed — our concern wasn't understood and nobody in our entourage speaks Indonesian. We were also short of our full crew, some of whom hadn't been available when this show was added to our tour at the last minute.

"Regardless, the result was a crowd that was visibly unhappy during our set and for that we accept responsibility.

"To our Kukar Rockin' Fest audience: We deeply apologize for any hurt that was caused. While we would have appreciated the support act being more accommodating, we nonetheless apologize to them as well and meant no disrespect. In hindsight, it might have been a better decision to just let them continue and cut much of our own set. But in the heat of the moment, a judgment call was made that backfired. We regret this turn of events, which does not represent what TESTAMENT is all about, nor what we'd travelled all that way for TESTAMENT deeply appreciates the fans of Indonesia and hopes they find it within their hearts to understand what has happened and forgive. We truly hope to return to this region one day amidst deeper understanding and better circumstances."

Hé oui, avant de juger trop rapidement, faut toujours se rappeler qu'il y a toujours 2 versions de l'histoire, et même trois comme disait Extreme : un côté, l'autre, et la vérité

Et je rajouterai que je comprends aisément que ça ait pu dégénérer ainsi à cause du retard pris, si effectivement le groupe avait des impératifs de temps. Pour connaître des gens ayant joué dans ces régions du monde (et j'en ai l'expérience moi-même pour avoir joué au Sri Lanka), les choses prennent toujours un retard considérable. Et quand on est dedans, on ne comprend pas pourquoi. Les choses se passent quand elles se passent, sans explications ni raisons apparentes, et au bout du compte le concert commence 3 heures après l'heure annoncée. C'est comme ça

D'ailleurs, le groupe (comme il en parle dans le communiqué) devait se produire à un festival à Mexico, le "Hell & Heaven Fest" annulé il y' a quelques jours par les autorités locales.

Il y a 3 jours l'orga disait que ça se ferait quand même, il semble que non... j'en connait un qui était heureux d'y jouer et que ça va faire chier...

Apparemment, le site a des manques en terme de conditions de sécurité (les sorties de secours notamment), des milliers de policiers devaient être déployés pour l'évènement aussi...

Greg Christian aurait passé des derniers mois très difficiles (il semble encore en vouloir au reste du groupe) et annonce qu'il va tout de même continuer dans la musique :

"Thank you so much for the birthday wishes.

"Lately, it's been all too easy to forget how many people's lives I've actually 'touched.' The last five months or so have been some of the most difficult of my 48 years on this Earth and seeing this support really helps. Thank you.

I'm still kind of in shock by how everything went down with Testament. And all I'll really say about that is — there are no 'bros' in Testament. The catch phrase coined by the Chief himself is every one man for himself, and it's taken to a sickening extreme with zero humanity. C'est la vie. But I'm not done playing music yet. Far from it. But every day's a struggle. And on top of it all, I have to deal with a few haters (people I barely know) going out of their way to derail me in any way they can. Thanks, guys. LOL.

Anyway, thank you again for all the birthday wishes. I appreciate it more than you all can probably understand. Cheers!!!"

TESTAMENT's original bassist, Greg Christian, who was most recently forced out of the band earlier this year, has posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"I had an idea LMAO — a weekly 'column' here. I was prompted to do this by seeing vague, partial at best, and usually pretty incoherent responses — in TESTAMENT interviews — in regards to my departure. And never once an actual, factual statement. Because it's pretty cut and dry. I got sick of not getting paid, and they got sick of me getting hostile about it. Not sure they even realized they pushed me into a position of being bitter and resentful, then blamed me for not being happy. But whatever… All I'm doing here is simple — since they obviously lack the ability to speak to the press in the same manner I was spoken to regularly, I'll do it for them. And I'll try to keep it clean, maybe a little tongue in cheek about the ridiculousness, and not bitter and nasty. do my best.

"The point is just — be how you're going to be, be who or what you're going to be, but stand up and be it. Don't be one way to me, then stutter and backpedal about it to others, especially if it's because you know how not right the truth really looks.

"So I'll throw a little something out there once a week, mostly to entertain myself, since I can't afford a movie LMAO (shoulda paid me lol).

"Anyway... here goes volume 1.

"Two things I heard the last time I spoke to Chuck [Billy, TESTAMENT singer] in January and no comment from me here — just two excerpts from our conversation. FYI, my response to both was 'Ya. Okay.'
