Le groupe américain prévoit de publier non pas un, mais deux albums dans les mois à venir !

Le premier comprend 10 titres écrits entre 2009 et 2011 et s'annonce plus 'direct' musicalement. Sortie prévue pour début 2013.

Le second sera, quant à lui, constitué d'un seul et unique morceau !! Épique !!


Tom Phillips : "It will consist of 10 brand new songs that were channeled between 2009-2011 (though one expression includes riffs dating back to 1995) and will surely once again challenge everyone's notions of what WHILE HEAVEN WEPT 'is'; while extremely melodic, heartfelt, and epic… it is (in Scott's words) 'intense and aggressive' — running the gamut from classic U.S. underground metal to melodic thrash and passages of a more 'extreme' nature. Compared to 'Fear Of Infinity', it has a very different atmosphere and is very much 'in your face' musically, yet clearly WHILE HEAVEN WEPT." An early 2013 release is expected."

En général, l'idée d'un morceau unique me rébuterait, mais vu que le morceau-fleuve The Furtest Shore est très réussi, je crois que ça peut donner quelque chose de bien.

Le 2ème album annoncé sur cette page ne sortira pas avant 1 an :

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT (Epic Doom/US) donne quelques nouvelles sur le successeur de Fear of Infinity (2011).

Le 5ème album du groupe sera enregistré à partir d'avril 2014, pour une sortie annoncé dans le courant de l'automne prochain, via Nuclear Blast.

Cet album ne contiendra qu'un morceau d'un peu plus de 40 minutes.

2014-02-11 01:00 - After two years in pre-production, the Virginia-based Epic Metal Band WHILE HEAVEN WEPT have entered the studio to begin recording the first of two brand new albums, entitled »Suspended At Aphelion« which will be released via Nuclear Blast Records in late 2014.

Founding guitarist and primary composer Tom Phillips provides more insight into what is clearly the single greatest work of the band’s career so far: “If (2011’s) »Fear Of Infinity« was our »Caress Of Steel«, »Suspended At Aphelion« is without question our »2112« – and anyone familiar with the stories behind those RUSH albums will understand that where we’re coming from is very similar both musically and circumstantially. »Suspended At Aphelion« is the culmination of 25 years and embodies everything that WHILE HEAVEN WEPT has ever represented – yet so much more; it’s everything we’ve got to give in our hearts and souls.”

He continues: “The album really is, quite simply, the greatest EPIC in our canon in that it is a single, 40+ minute monolith divided into 11 parts – in the tradition of the aforementioned »2112« and our own ‘The Furthest Shore’, ‘Finality’, and ‘Thus With A Kiss I Die’, amongst others. Yet, musically…while clearly this is WHILE HEAVEN WEPT …it’s very much beyond anything else we’ve ever done…VERY progressive, but in a harmonic sense more than the technical. The bottom line is, if you enjoyed those aforementioned “mini-epics” – or the »Vast Oceans Lachrymose« album for that matter – then this is the elevation and evolution several years beyond those. We’ve approached this one as if it were to be our last – so again, it’s everything we’ve got!”

While the »Fear Of Infinity« line-up remains intact, the recording will feature some additional highly-esteemed musicians including the extraordinary drummer Mark Zonder of FATES WARNING and WARLORD fame, as well as world-renowned classical guitarist Christopher Ladd, whom Tom has known since childhood. Both will be performing throughout the entire album and more details regarding their involvement will follow in forthcoming press releases.

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT have once again aligned with Gustavo Sazes for the cover art – the man responsible for the stunning »Fear Of Infinity« cover, and Kevin 131 – engineer and co-producer of the »Of Empires Forlorn« album from 2003.

Tom says: “The team we have assembled to realize this mammoth work is nothing short of incredible, and I cannot think of a better way to commemorate a quarter of a century of WHILE HEAVEN WEPT than to release the definitive statement of the band. Prepare yourselves for an epic journey far beyond anything you’ve ever known from us!”

Lead singer Rain Irving added: “Never before, have I been so proud to be associated with a musical endeavor. No disrespect to any of our works in the past, but this one is special and worth every ounce of excitement I feel inside. This is the kind of record that will allow me to "rest peacefully" if you will, the day I decide I’m done with my career.”

The cover art for »Suspended At Aphelion« was once again created by Gustavo Sazes (MORBID ANGEL, ARCH ENEMY etc.), and three separate audio masters were optimized for LP, CD, and digital download formats.

WHILE HEAVEN WEPT also reunited with producer/engineer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (RAVEN, DECEASED, DYSRHYTHMIA) at Assembly Line Studios for the recording of »Suspended At Aphelion« 12 years after creating their classic »Of Empires Forlorn« album together, solidifying an already strong team for their most epic of epics!

»Suspended At Aphelion« will be released by Nuclear Blast on October 24th (EU) and October 27 (USA).
