We want new Opeth just as badly as you do, here's an official statement regarding Pale Communion:
Roadrunner Records group Opeth has announced that the release of their highly anticipated eleventh studio album, Pale Communion has been reslated for August 26th.
“Many of you have heard the rumours already and we can now confirm that the release of Pale Communion has indeed been pushed back to late August,” commented Opeth frontman, Mikael Åkerfeldt. “Several circumstances prevented the band from delivering essential tools to Roadrunner in time which are needed to set up the album release properly and release schedule conflicts made us mutually decide on August instead of June.”
Pale Communion, which was produced by the band’s very own Mikael Åkerfeldt and mixed by longtime collaborator and Porcupine Tree frontman/guitarist Steven Wilson, will be heralded by the lead single 'Cusp of Eternity' and available for pre-order starting Tuesday, June 3rd. Pre-orders for Pale Communion made via the iTunes Store will receive an instant download of 'Cusp of Eternity' as well as second album track to be released on July 15th, with multiple configurations also available via both the Roadrunner Records Webstore and O Merch.

Très bon morceau qui à lui seul surpasse Heritage que j'avais trouvé un poil chiant.

Vraiment sympa ce morceau! Pourtant j'ai du mal en général avec Opeth tant musicalement qu'au niveau mentalité mais au moins la musique est vraiment sympa ici

Pas vraiment ce que j'attends d'eux (je préfère Ghost Reveries, etc...), mais si je mets de côté le fait que c'est Opeth, il passe pas mal. Il me fait pas mal penser à Gates of Babylon de Rainbow.

Du bon prog mais cet album à 40 ans d'âge, il y a de l'inspiration et beaucoup de talent mais à quoi bon refaire ce qui a été joué dans les années 1970, pour qui ? La modernité c'était de meler death et prog pas de faire du prog very old school !

Åkerfeldt ne pense pas se remettre à chanter comme sur les premiers albums d'Opeth, c'est visiblement du passé même s'il ne l'exclut pas totalement :

Guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH says that "it's not likely" he will ever write music again that will call for the type of harsh vocals that characterized the band's early efforts.

OPETH took a sharp musical turn with 2011's "Heritage" album and its follow-up release, 2014's "Pale Communion", their complete lack of death growls and relative dearth of heavy distorted riffs seemingly flying in the face of the notion that the band was at the top of the progressive metal heap.

During a question-and-answer session with asQme, Åkerfeldt was asked if he will use any of his "screaming" vocals on OPETH's next album, which is expected to be written and recorded next year for a tentative 2017 release. "I don't know," he responded. "It depends. If the songs that we write, if they need the screams, they will be on there. [But] I have a feeling that I won't write those kind of songs."

He continued: "I've been screamin for twenty years or something like that — more than twenty years. I'm not as good as I was, and I don't have the… I mean, I'm a pretty chilled out person, so I don't really have that in me anymore. I can do it — I can do it when we're playing some of those old songs — but for me to write new music that's as aggressive as the music I wrote ten, fifteen years ago, it's not likely. But you never know. It's not like I don't want to. I just wanna write good songs, and if they need that type of vocals, yes, we will have them."

Il n'arrête pas de dire ça mais à côté il programme des tournées spéciales genre Blackwater Park ou Ghost Reveries où il ne joue que 2-3 morceaux sans growls par concert...

Ce qui n'est pas du tout en contradiction avec ce qu'il dit dans l'interview.

Il parle juste de ses nouvelles compo, il ne ressent pas le besoin d'y intégrer des growls. Il ne dit pas qu'il a l'intention d'arrêter sur scène.
